About 60 seconds into this and a tears come to my eyes as I see the music from my favorite movie come to life. "What are we supposed to use man? Harsh language?"
VERY underrated score. This movie is one of the Best alien thriller sci-fi movie ever made because of the music and amount of detail making this movie. This movie successfully scared the SH*T out of every man, woman, and child from the very first time it came out in the 70's -- Alien then into part 2 -- Aliens in the 80's and still continues to do it into the future. It was way ahead of its time in special effects before all the green screening and computer aided computer graphics. Everything was built to scale including camera tricks including the elaborate costumes from scratch. Amazing when you see how realistic the Aliens and space station/crafts are. Not at all an easy feat. Sigourney and casts played their role perfectly and made it fearfully believable. This movie was so good in terrifying the masses that it actually helped boost ET and Star Wars into Fame because of its "Good" alien potrayal.
All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? It's another glorious day in the Corps. A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm: Every meal's a banquet. Every paycheck's a fortune! Every formation's a parade! I love the Corps!
The music is way more than a soundtrack. This is modern classical music on its highest level. You can listen to it without knowing the movie and it will evoke strong emotions and pictures in your mind.
“They mostly come at night.............mostly “ I adore the Alien films and the soundtracks for these films are works of art in their own right. James Horner’s loss hit the music world badly, his talent is greatly missed. I have watched these films more times than i can remember but continue to enjoy them! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Imho, this score is one of the most skilfully crafted and composed piece of music in the history of original soundtracks, and it is played so accurately, amazingly, beautifully.
My favorite cue is at 7:35. This is the moment when, while she's driving the ATC and escaping the atmosphere processor, Ripley is suddenly attacked by an alien who climbed onto the vehicle and smashed its way thru the driver's window. Ripley was smart enough to slam on the brakes, throwing the alien off and in front of the ATC, where she then runs it over and crushes it!
I've been trying to figure out for years what made that "clanging" sound in the orchestra, now I finally figure out it's just a hammer & a piece of pipe!
Один из самых лучших музыкальных произведений для фильма.Музыка в такт фильму, раньше музыка была частью фильма.Дирежор и оркестр сыграли безукорезенно, атмосферно, блистательно.
I was 6 year old and after watching this movie I was fucking scared to hysterics. There only two goddamned movies which scared me like this and now 20 years later I still can't watch them without that forgotten childish fear. There are "Aliens" of 1986 and "The Thing" of 1982. These 2 movies are most horror movies in the world
Not to downplay your fear, but have you ever seen a real horror movie? If you like Sci-Fi fantasy and really want to be scared out of your mind hysterical, I'd recommend the movie EVENT HORIZON. And if that doesn't do it for you then HELLRAISER 1 and 2, but I want to caution you that if you thought Aliens was scary then these movies will REALLY SCARE THE HOLY SH*T OUT OF YOU, I mean they are REALLY, TRULY HORRIFYING, SO WATCH AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.
I watched Event Horizon and Hellraizer but in adult age, so it wasn't very scary. Event Horizon is really horryfying, it's a pity I never watched it when I was a child, effect would be much stronger. But Hellraiser I didn't like at all, it is a some kind of rubbish
In regards to both Event Horizon and Hellraiser, I didn't say they were great films, only that they were really scary, at least in my opinion. I think the point I was really trying to make is that In my opinion Aliens is more of a Sci-fi action adventure film than a horror film.
my scariest film I watched was when I was 12 was an American werewolf in London, the first attack on the moor was the most gruesome thing id ever seen at the time
this is quite possibly the best score, from the best soundtrack, from the best composer, taken from the best scene, of the best film written by the best director - ever.
It's so fascinating to see these familiar pieces actually played by the orchestra and see how they are brought into being by all the talented musicians under the conductor's baton. - Played so well, I can actually hear the background sounds like the spaceship hisses, the pulse rifle blasts, xenomorph cries and engine roars.
I had the pleasure of watching Aliens on Haloween on a big screen at Croydon cinema many years ago. This film was the only film I saw in the cinema that had the music as loud as the action and yet it didn't feel too much because it complemented every scene. It felt that the music itself was a character.
One of the best scifi movies of all time. Sigorney Weaver, is the first and greatest women hero of all time. Every other women hero after her are using to much technology and less acting. For me, I listen to the score of this movie and I can see Ripley doing her thing , the way only she can do it . Ripley (SW) kicked it . . Sigorney Weaver was the perfect actor for the role . Her talent is way out there, The sound track is way out there . A perfect match.
This is my favourite soundtrack of going to bed. Afterwards I regret it..... a little. But still this is what this movie makes so special. Sounds from outta space...
Awesome!! Deserves the tribute...I bought Horner's score on DVD back in late 80s. One of first on cd...fell in love with Horner's music since. Aliens score is fantastic and makes movie what it is :)
This music is bloody amazing! I don't know how the audience can keep still at 7:20. I'd be running around with an M41A Pulse Rifle, 10 millimeter with over-and-under 30 millimeter pump action grenade launcher.
This is the essence of orchestra, the way these sounds sound and tell a story you cannot imagine is what does it... The live version is even better than the version for the movie. Insanely good music was written for Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, and Resurrection. In today's world, insanely good music is written every day.
James Horner's magnificent music, bookended by Aram Katchaturian's "Gayane Adagio." Horner was a great composer to pay such tribute to another great (and underappreciated) composer!
I would love to hear Ripley's Rescue performed live like this. On the recording, the percussion sounds a bit overpowering, but this may well be microphone placement.
It's uniquely fascinating watching soundtracks played live. The music is associated with the movie to the extent that you never really consider the mechanics of it - that there are actual musicians playing a composition with parts and time signatures.

Sounds and emotions man . . . synesthesia at it's finest.
It's called an adrenaline rush. Way better than any drug on the market.

Star Wars is PRIOR to ALIEN.
The movie sounds good I'm going to download it and watch it
definately
Mikha'el after Alien franchise, there wasn't a single movie as claustrophobic and terrifying as Alien.
Mikha'el and Horner only had two, TWO, weeks to compose this!! Amazing achievement.
All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? It's another glorious day in the Corps. A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm: Every meal's a banquet. Every paycheck's a fortune! Every formation's a parade! I love the Corps!

I 'watch' alien and aliens once a week, i like to have it running while I read something, the sound appeals to me

Can't believe they make all these sounds with real instruments. these days they can replicate it with a computer, still you still have to compose it.
This is incredible seeing an orchestra performing this music, it literally took me right back to the scenes from the movie
