Love the med bottle trick! I've had that happen before, too. I suspect in my case, the light got turned on with something pressing and holding down the button. Both pumps look great, and I'm impressed by your patience at filling a pad 56 times!
My tiny one worked great for 7 days on the trail. I love not having to blow my pad up at the end of the day. It is a solid little pump, but I wouldn't want to added weight of the bigger one. Great review!

Good info, I see that you only stated inflation xx's. Are these units capable of deflating. I have old Flextail rated @3800mAh but w/o-light that deflates as well.
