The Massacre

Taken from a live performance:
"The Massacre"
Forever shall I recall the day
The day my spirit
within this broadhearted soul fell
and my heart skipped a beat
when I heard tell.
I heard of the massacre...
of the killing field
brought upon messenger
driven by a black wind
of deeds that should never
have come to be.
Some expressed confusion,
But I knew
exactly what to do.
Some say that things should be canceled
and silence is the best response.
In truth A moment of silence
for the memory of the fallen
is not only needed
but is demanded
it is demanded by ideals and
by the most fundamental morality.
but, BUT...
These are the times
The times in the course
of the lives of men and women alike.
where we show our mettle.
The value of the simple state of being
a human being
This is a time
when those voices now silenced
cry for a voice among those who remain.
This is the very time
when a voice of reason
is needed the most,
In this season,
this time we now live,
A sickness has covered this land
this country this world we all have to share..
It has become stained
stained with blood of the innocent
people ask why
what causes someone to kill
to kill women children complete strangers
that have done them no wrong.
When you hear about the gunmen
the mass murderers with their inane fury.
What is the source of the obscenity
the madness that brings the sadness.
Where does it start? where doe it begin?
It starts with you an me my friend.
It is time we do become our brothers keeper
It is time we do call for equality of law.
The reason whites are the ones who do these things
is because of inequality of the justice system
it is time the rich who operate above the law
and the lawyers who pervert justice
be held to the same level of accountability
It is time that justice was the same for all
it is time that the law should be blind.
It is only then that a persons true colors
will ever bee seen before it is too late.
To whom much is given much is required.
So just remember when you pint a finger
don't forget the three that are pointing back at you.
So don't tell me what is not required
much is required or more more will asked later.
So write, speak and pass on the words
that will champion this truest of causes.
We are the bards,
we are the voices
we are the poets.
and the world needs us
and morality demands of us
to excise i gift of
the turn of a phrase and of gab
to not elevate ourselves in vanity,
but raise us all in unity as one world
one race... a common human race.
not to impose our views
as a superior perceived intellect
but to instead relay that elementary truth
that all men have in their heart
that all good people know,
what is the right thing to do.
but because of sorrow
have forgotten
need only to simply be reminded of.

and word smiths Your bothers and sisters
await
