They're my favorite group. They're just so talented and different, Soyeon brings out the best of them. They're also the most chaotic group, their chemistry is wild and they enjoy it.
Your instincts are right bro. GIDLE is different. They’re fairly unconventional for kpop standards. Their story makes it even better. On paper, they have no business being as successful as they are. It’s a true underdog story. They carved out their own lane in a very competitive class of 4th Gen girl groups.
OMG I love them so much, Soyeon is a genius Gidle is a group known as doing things for themselves, Soyeon writes and produces most of GIDLE's songs and Minnie and Yuqi also write and produce. BUT the main reason for their relatively lower recognition I think, is because Cube entertainment is not a big company and their stretegy for promoting their artists is sometimes questionable. (G)I-dle is (mis)managed by a rather small entertainment company. There are pro's and con's with that. The bigger companies don't allow group members to write/produce, but (G)I-dle Soyeon, Minnie, and Yuqi all write/produce all of the groups music. They change styles and concepts for each album. Now that they are adults (all are in their early to mid-twenties) they are making more mature music. The first 3 albums were not made with mass appeal in mind but still had some big hits with the title tracks. You get a lot more diversity in those songs.

Gidle loves to break stereotypes trought their music, i think that is what makes them so diferent, and that they are involved in every aspect of their music so maybe that is why they are not everywhere because is not like "normal" sound and concepst. Gidle is actually doing really well in a way. Its just that the kpop we mostly encounter as a casual listener are equivalent to the blockbusters like a Marvel movie. But kpop is actually large enough to have different spaces/niches/etc. Gidle started in a relatively smaller space, like a mid-budget TV show, and the fact that they have actually broken out this far is quite an achievement
Always happy to see more people discover (G)I-DLE! They truly are one of a kind. Soyeon (leader, rapper) composes and produces like 95% of their songs, Minnie and Yuqi write and produce the other 5%. It’s cool to see a girlgroup in kpop have this much input in their own music, cause that’s really rare! This EP especially wasn’t written or produced by any of them, probably because it’s an english release and they already received it ready to record. I hope you can check their other projects. They produce the majority of their songs. But this EP isn’t. But the girls still slay. Soyeon is one of the best K-pop rappers ever (personally without “one of”). And Minnie Yuqi had been writing songs in recent albums also.

I love their vocal range! Soyeon (the leader/rapper/writer/producer) made an effort to keep their voices true to who they are as individual singers while in their vocal trainings. I think you will enjoy their Killing Voice to really see their vocals and a sampling of their title tracks!

The album is so good. I know some nevies were worried that US producers wouldn't be able to get the best from the girls like Soyeon always does, but I was hopeful and I'm very glad to report that my hope was well placed lol. They definitely saw something in Miyeon because my girl is EATING this album. Soyeon's true talent isn't really exploited here (although you can clearly glimpses of her insane rapping skills) but it's okay, she's so good she can let someone else have the spotlight too haha! (still my favorite person in the world though) Thanks for your reaction! If you're wondering about the lyrics of "Eyes Roll", it's a Meghan Trainor song LOL let's just say I wasn't surprised when I saw it was the explicit song of the album (with I do but we already knew)

Her voice is INCREDIBLE though Yuqi is the main dancer and a sub vocalist, but with her unique husky voice, she does a lot of stuff Shuhua is a sub vocalist who isn't as confident with her Korean pronunciation and her voice although she has a very pretty, clear voice and she got really good at dancing too so that's always good too Miyeon (born January 97) and Soyeon (Aug 98) are Korean Minnie (Oct 97) is Thai Yuqi (Sep 99) is Chinese Shuhua (Jan 2000) is Taiwanese
As far as their popularity is concerned... I agree with you. Their KR songs have been very popular, especially since 2022 but they're just below the top groups at the moment in terms of popularity, but I can tell you they came to fucking Belgium and filled an 8k seat arena without effort, and I've never heard so much noise haha, we made sure to make them want to come back here ♥
I still don't know how to rank the songs as I love them all... Which is something that happens literally every time they release an EP so yeah. Miyeon is just a really, really good singer. She's not always been the strongest artist, especially when she was younger, where by Artist, I mean, someone who knows what message they want to deliver and how to do it. But, she's really coming into her own now. I expect her to have a long, stable career in Korea
I know I don't have the context of the previous work and stuff but as a western/hip hop fan I can say they did this very well! I understand their other stuff is very different, but I'm sure it's dope because even these songs (I Do, Tall Trees vs Flip it, I want that, Eyes roll) and queencard was way different so I'm just looking forward to it all.

I-DLE members didn't composed/written this English EP, which makes sense since it's not their primary language and it's produced by 88rising producers and their collab producers (like Ryan Tedder, Meghan Trainor, etc.) But for any Korean track (their songs or collab) Soyeon writes all their raps. And almost all their Korean tracks are written (= often the main composer & main writer, sometimes co-arranger) by I-DLE members (Soyeon, Minnie, Yuqi) Even 2 of their exclusive Japanese tracks are composed/written by Minnie, and their Mandarin translated songs are translated by Yuqi, since their debut the whole group is heavily involved in the production even the members who don't compose or write, because they had to and wanted to, to make the best impact for each of their songs Since then I-DLE whether they participate in production of the songs or not, they are always deeply involved with the songs, cause they know how to make a song theirs Another interesting example: The K/DA song Pop/Stars for example has been produced by Riot Games Music, with Miyeon and Soyeon as two of four main interpreters, but I-DLE group covered the song for their online concert in 2020 (and several times since) and since then, I personally consider this song Pop/Stars performance owned equally K/DA members and I-DLE members, because they made it theirs completely

Honestly I agree with you regarding Eyes Roll but I love it so much I mean is not everyday we get Kpop idols actually behaving like their age. They are grown women :) "I Never Die" is their fist full album and is an emotional roller coaster 10/10 If you like Miyeon's vocals you should check her mini album "My" and also check Soyeon's mini albun "Windy", Yuqi has also 2 songs and many covers.
Don't get me wrong I have no problem with the lyrics of Eyes Roll, I actually loved it, I was just surprised. Western music is way more explicit than KPop anyway lol. I am excited to explore of their stuff!

Their discography is quite big, but if you're looking especially for Soyeon's rap I recommend: Nxde, Tomboy, Lion, Hwaa, Oh My God, Villain Dies. The whole group raps in a song called My Bag. I would say if you are interested in their sound. Look into their past discography. I just got into (G)-idle this year and I will not look back. I love these girls their songs have meanings and Soyeon, Minnie, and Yugi do amazing with writing and producing. My favorites are Oh My God, Never Stop Me, and Dahlia, but honestly you just can't go wrong with anything from these girls.

I recommend you listen to I never die (it's their 1st full album) I burn, is probably Neverland's favorite. And you can check their solo works: MY by Miyeon, Windy by Soyeon and A page by Yuqi. I think they’re my second favourite group that I’ve seen in the Kpop industry so far… You should consider checking out Dreamcatcher as well! They have more of a metal/rock-ish vibe, which is very unique for Kpop. Also, they are criminally underrated! My favourite group of all time. They never disappoint!

You did fine with the girls names. To get a good idea of their different styles and Soyeons excellent rapping you should check out the "I never die" album and the "I Burn" album. Soyeon usually holds back on her raps for title tracks but lays down fantastic flow raps for b-sides that really fit the song and don't feel like a rap part forced into the song at all.
Refer you like 'Tall Tree' and 'I DO' you may like HANN(Alone), HANN ( Alone in winter), HWAA, Oh My God Many of their B-side tracks are so good, you may see. Put it straight (Regular version, Nightmare version, Halloween Dance practice), Change, X-Files (Dark) And as you base in RAP, you may like OH HO, My Bag Choreography and performance) and I hope you see the Rap part in ' Tomboy' and 'Señorita because many people are so criticised the RAP part in this two song so much. There is no better kpop album than Idle "I never die" its their first comeback after Soojin - the most popular member- was fously accused and kick out before official trial. They chaned to more bald and started functioning like its all or nothing but their song before are great too ( Oh my god will ki** you bc its the best antidrop btw) . Heat is first album where members didnt produced the songs and its a 88 rising colab with them. Soyeon (rapper, leader and main producer) loves to try different genres and write lirycs to make them tell their own story each comeback. They also are part of Riot games in game (LOL) KDA group as voice actors.
I think I have seen a few people suggest Oh My God, Lion, and My Bag but also the album "I never die" and these names are just so cool. I am definitely going to explore this group, stick around!

Quick little pronounciation help, you got everyone right except for yuqi.. it's pronounced without the Y.. "oo-gi" not quite a K sound but it's not a hard G (as in gum and gate) either it's somewhere in between

BUT the main reason for their relatively lower recognition I think, is because Cube entertainment is not a big company and their stretegy for promoting their artists is sometimes questionable. (G)I-dle is (mis)managed by a rather small entertainment company. There are pro's and con's with that. The bigger companies don't allow group members to write/produce, but (G)I-dle Soyeon, Minnie, and Yuqi all write/produce all of the groups music. They change styles and concepts for each album. Now that they are adults (all are in their early to mid-twenties) they are making more mature music. The first 3 albums were not made with mass appeal in mind but still had some big hits with the title tracks. You get a lot more diversity in those songs.

Gidle loves to break stereotypes trought their music, i think that is what makes them so diferent, and that they are involved in every aspect of their music so maybe that is why they are not everywhere because is not like "normal" sound and concepst. Gidle is actually doing really well in a way. Its just that the kpop we mostly encounter as a casual listener are equivalent to the blockbusters like a Marvel movie. But kpop is actually large enough to have different spaces/niches/etc. Gidle started in a relatively smaller space, like a mid-budget TV show, and the fact that they have actually broken out this far is quite an achievement

I love their vocal range! Soyeon (the leader/rapper/writer/producer) made an effort to keep their voices true to who they are as individual singers while in their vocal trainings. I think you will enjoy their Killing Voice to really see their vocals and a sampling of their title tracks!

The album is so good. I know some nevies were worried that US producers wouldn't be able to get the best from the girls like Soyeon always does, but I was hopeful and I'm very glad to report that my hope was well placed lol. They definitely saw something in Miyeon because my girl is EATING this album. Soyeon's true talent isn't really exploited here (although you can clearly glimpses of her insane rapping skills) but it's okay, she's so good she can let someone else have the spotlight too haha! (still my favorite person in the world though)

Soyeon is the main rapper and an extremely capable vocalist but she doesn't really give herself that role. Her voice is INCREDIBLE though
Yuqi is the main dancer and a sub vocalist, but with her unique husky voice, she does a lot of stuff
Shuhua is a sub vocalist who isn't as confident with her Korean pronunciation and her voice although she has a very pretty, clear voice and she got really good at dancing too so that's always good too
Miyeon (born January 97) and Soyeon (Aug 98) are Korean
Minnie (Oct 97) is Thai
Yuqi (Sep 99) is Chinese
Shuhua (Jan 2000) is Taiwanese
As far as their popularity is concerned... I agree with you. Their KR songs have been very popular, especially since 2022 but they're just below the top groups at the moment in terms of popularity, but I can tell you they came to fucking Belgium and filled an 8k seat arena without effort, and I've never heard so much noise haha, we made sure to make them want to come back here ♥
I still don't know how to rank the songs as I love them all... Which is something that happens literally every time they release an EP so yeah. If I had to try, at the moment I'd say

Miyeon is just a really, really good singer. She's not always been the strongest artist, especially when she was younger, where by Artist, I mean, someone who knows what message they want to deliver and how to do it. But, she's really coming into her own now. I expect her to have a long, stable career in Korea
I know I don't have the context of the previous work and stuff but as a western/hip hop fan I can say they did this very well! I understand their other stuff is very different, but I'm sure it's dope because even these songs (I Do, Tall Trees vs Flip it, I want that, Eyes roll) and queencard was way different so I'm just looking forward to it all.

I-DLE members didn't composed/written this English EP, which makes sense since it's not their primary language and it's produced by 88rising producers and their collab producers (like Ryan Tedder, Meghan Trainor, etc.)
But for any Korean track (their songs or collab) Soyeon writes all their raps.
And almost all their Korean tracks are written (= often the main composer & main writer, sometimes co-arranger) by I-DLE members (Soyeon, Minnie, Yuqi)
Even 2 of their exclusive Japanese tracks are composed/written by Minnie, and their Mandarin translated songs are translated by Yuqi, since their debut the whole group is heavily involved in the production even the members who don't compose or write, because they had to and wanted to, to make the best impact for each of their songs
Since then I-DLE whether they participate in production of the songs or not, they are always deeply involved with the songs, cause they know how to make a song theirs
Another interesting example:
The K/DA song Pop/Stars for example has been produced by Riot Games Music, with Miyeon and Soyeon as two of four main interpreters, but I-DLE group covered the song for their online concert in 2020 (and several times since) and since then, I personally consider this song Pop/Stars performance owned equally K/DA members and I-DLE members, because they made it theirs completely
The more I hear about this group the cooler they sound. Stick around I will be checking out their Korean music very soon.

Don't get me wrong I have no problem with the lyrics of Eyes Roll, I actually loved it, I was just surprised. Western music is way more explicit than KPop anyway lol. I am excited to explore of their stuff!

I would say if you are interested in their sound. Look into their past discography. I just got into (G)-idle this year and I will not look back. I love these girls their songs have meanings and Soyeon, Minnie, and Yugi do amazing with writing and producing. My favorites are Oh My God, Never Stop Me, and Dahlia, but honestly you just can't go wrong with anything from these girls.

I think they’re my second favourite group that I’ve seen in the Kpop industry so far… You should consider checking out Dreamcatcher as well! They have more of a metal/rock-ish vibe, which is very unique for Kpop. Also, they are criminally underrated! My favourite group of all time. They never disappoint!

You did fine with the girls names. To get a good idea of their different styles and Soyeons excellent rapping you should check out the "I never die" album and the "I Burn" album. Soyeon usually holds back on her raps for title tracks but lays down fantastic flow raps for b-sides that really fit the song and don't feel like a rap part forced into the song at all.
I'm obviously impressed by them, I can't wait to check out their other songs.
Except for Yuqi, which is pronounced "Yoo-chee ," not "Yoo-key." It means "Jade Rain" in Mandarin.

@@ChainReactionsChannel After Soojin left the group Idle didn't come back for a year and 2 months that time was very difficult for Idle and Neverland So ‘I never die’ has special meaning for us The title Tomboy is one of the legends of the K-pop industry (for me the best album is I burn hope you like it 😊)

There is no better kpop album than Idle "I never die" its their first comeback after Soojin - the most popular member- was fously accused and kick out before official trial. They chaned to more bald and started functioning like its all or nothing but their song before are great too ( Oh my god will ki** you bc its the best antidrop btw) . Heat is first album where members didnt produced the songs and its a 88 rising colab with them. Soyeon (rapper, leader and main producer) loves to try different genres and write lirycs to make them tell their own story each comeback. They also are part of Riot games in game (LOL) KDA group as voice actors.
Plus if u like rap listen to Soyeon solo album and My bag by Idle.
I think I have seen a few people suggest Oh My God, Lion, and My Bag but also the album "I never die" and these names are just so cool. I am definitely going to explore this group, stick around!

Quick little pronounciation help, you got everyone right except for yuqi.. it's pronounced without the Y.. "oo-gi" not quite a K sound but it's not a hard G (as in gum and gate) either it's somewhere in between

They didn’t participate in the writing in this album that’s why it lakes a K-pop element. This album isn’t a K-pop album. It’s an American ep.

Gidle come from a poorly managed company. They don’t have the promotion and hype of other groups. In Korea a group can be popular just because it debuted with certain companies. The girls work hard on every aspect to produce there music. They are popular and respected in Korea, but internationally they don’t have the amount of hype they deserve yet. Like everything with gidle it’s slow growing. Thanks for being respectful in your commentary.
