The way the group just supports and protects John wholeheartedly is so wholesome. Also, Maggie sounded so disappointed when she learned John had a girlfriend 🤣 but I was so glad she got to heal him.

I saw this before I watched Bloodkeep and I was honestly so confused. I thought Maggie was literally having a bird/human hybrid with John and I was pondering how the hell that happened. This character along with Avanash are the absolute best
The immediate enthusiastic friendship between Maggie and John VS The business partnership turned unlikely brotherhood of John and Marcus is my favourite thing because it, completely accidentally I think, shows the difference and similarity between these two characters who don't have a lot of one on one interactions and therefore there are not a lot of ways that comparison can come across.
What I loved about this was how real this feels. Sometimes you just make unlikely friends with the most random person. But also as a DM myself, your players will bond with the strangest creatures. I am DM-ing Descent into Avernus and all the NPCs on their side are regarded as "yeah okay nice" but not really interacted with. But the randomly conjured skeleton that almost got destroyed by the enemy they told it to fight, that one they love. The artificer dwarf has a crush on "her". As a skeleton she can't talk and technically does not have a soul or own dreams and interests. But ... I can work with this lol. At the same time, John Feathers becomes this really cool NPC and I feel like this is one of the steps those characters take towards "if we all bond together we can achieve great goals". Maggie angrily defending him, Marcus adopting him into the crew, the rest of the vile villains just accepting him joining. John becomes a part of this weird crew and they like him. And they like each other as well. Which is how they save the kingdom of evil.
yes by accepting him and wanting to help him they show that it could not have ended up pvp!!! they would work together!!! and omg ur skeleton npc sounds SO perfect for players to randomly love haha ❤❤❤
@@misti-step I can't even really take credit. There was an invocation in the adventure that summons three skeletons that serve the summoner. They nicknamed them and thought they were funny and sent them into battle but when two got destroyed they got very protective of the third one so in the end, the warlock who summoned them fought to get "her" out of there 😅 The Skeleton got a different status later. Tthe warlock offered an artifact that held a pit fiend to her fiendish patron and since that is a great gift, he turned the skeleton into an undead servant which was my way of telling them (okay she has plot armor now provided you don't abuse the invulnerability by sending her into the thick of it) I'm at the point where I grew fond of her lol.

As a DM, there is no greater feeling than when a player just absolutely adopts one of your NPC's as theirs, and Brennan is a master of this art. I can only imagine the joy he gets to experience daily, and he deserves all of it.
I love all of this so much Brennan is a great dm and having another great dm as a caracter just mskes all of this fun and seeing how they and the other pc's play off eachother it's always enjoyable
This is hands down my favourite campaign. Just perfection. Wonderful to see Matt enjoy the game as a PC, and Brennan is, imo, one of the best GMs period.
