We have gone full circle lol. When I was a kid it was all about Frenching, shaving I'm just generally cleaning up the vehicle to give it a more smooth look. Arguably the Ford Ranger did a pretty good job right out of the factory minus some emblems. I think it's pretty cool and pretty clever but you are putting in a little heritage style back into the truck.
@@AtomicReverend They do say things always come back full circle lol. But I agree definitely traditional mini trucking was always about frenching/shaving everything. To my defense, I did flip the handle on the back side :). When I paint the cab I plan on shaving the 3rd brake light as well as I have something special planned for the fender badges. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@paule01 i really do like it, it's pretty hard to do something original to a Ford Ranger, Chevrolet S10, Ford Mustang, a Ford Model A, a 1932 Ford and a VW bug as everybody has already done just about everything to them. I love hand fabricated owner built rides and from what I have seen yours is top-notch for a home garage build. I can only hope my 95 ranger comes out half as nice.
@@paule01 it's funny I was thinking about buying a stepside bed... I got a pretty good lead on a 1998 stepside bed for 250 bucks... I just keep going back and forth if I really need it. I do think it would look really good on a pretty low truck
Very nice work! You say it now needs lots of filler (plastic), so in my mind I would have saved a whole bunch of time and used panel adhesive (plastic) and had the whole job done in a day.
Fantastic work i love your ideas on the tailgate and roll pan are you gonna put a handle in the tail gate? I have a 98 ranger myself loving it and your giving me inspiration
Damn man I love your work it looks factory to me I would really love to do that to my 98 ranger I recently installed whole new wheel assembly and suspension it’s getting aligned and should be ready by tomorrow keep up the great work man really good inspiration
Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words! Glad what Im tinkering around with can be some sort of inspiration and goodluck with your 98, Im sure its going to be sweet when you get it back from being aligned!
Ive got a 1994 splash project that hopefully is ready for paint when it warms up again. Your truck looks great, would you mind telling me if thats a ford color and if not, the paint code?
Your doing some good work. I hate to be that guy it may be how I'm looking at it. The filler you welded in (handle spot) the line is not as sharp as the rest of it. Sorry if it's me just let me know and I'm not a keyboard cowboy. Hell I wouldn't try to do what some of you guys do. I did sub unless you don't want me to let me know.
Thanks and you're absolutely right, I struggled a ton with the filler piece for the handle. The line isnt as sharp and lt need a good amount of body work to fix. When I started this project I didnt have very much tig welding sheet metal experience so that handle filler piece being the first piece of the project I think shows that lack of experience. And thanks for subbing also, constructive criticism is always welcome!
@@endall6783 if you just need to weld steel there are some pretty cheap tig machines that have some good reviews. I have an Everlast welder that has been good to me
I wish Ford would have made the tailgate like that for the Ranger. It just looks better!
Craftsmanship at its finest!
Your work is amazing!!!!
Thank you for your video!
Incredible custom fab job looks amazing!

Thanks! I hope your paint job goes well and this colour is a factory Ford Ranger colour. Paint code is E4
Ok thanks, Im familiar with that code.
What’s the year and model of the tailgate you used?
Not 100% sure on the year but it was off a Ranger from the late 80s
I want get this done. What is this called to be done to my tailgate?
Not sure what it would be called but you can show the shop this video and see what they say
