Lol... I found this out on my own, but I had no idea how easy it was. I inspected the up butten, went to event listeners, opened main.js, frose the code, stepped a million times, and then run in the console: c.value = 8 when I could easily just delete one element.

You can just take the Chrome Music Lab link from someone's shared song where they did the 8 octaves trick, then just clear out all the old notes and you're good to go!

Song maker came out years ago and they haven’t patched it. Also they can’t really do anything about people using Inspect Element

Likely because Chrome Music Lab was made for children, and 8 octaves would overwhelm them.

I just put a bunch of notes in a row when I need a long note, there’s no feature to extend notes.
Worked but I accidentally put the octaves down to 6 when trying it out and it wouldn’t go up back to 7
you have to go back into the menu where you got it to 8 to increase it again

Just make sure the rest of the settings are at or below their normal limit, and the octaves are at 8 or below.
