I'd say the beamer, BMW-s have all the essentials you need to build a drift car on. They aren't insanely heavy and have very good power already when stock, the body styles and the space allow for great builds. Plus the aggressive looks on BMWs are very nice. But overall, it all comes down to what car you like, because damn near every car can easily be turned into a drift car.

IMHO the best drift car is the one you are most comfortable with regardless of make or model. Everyone has different taste and preference. It's what makes the car community so great. You could see a mustang lined up with an evo or a ranger lined up with a vw golf. What makes a great drift car (or any race car) to me is something you put time and effort into building and perfecting to your driving style. Keep ripping it.
I more care about Japanese cars for a drift platform but really in all reality you really want something that has a really good weight distribution and it's all really based on preference you also want something that's going to have a lot of aftermarket support in all kinds of aspect performance parts... Also personally I would try to stay away from any car that has a huge following like the 240sx or a 350/370 Z car or even a E30 etc because anytime you find one of those for "cheap" they are usually clapped out POS's or the clean ones unmolested or not will reflect that price due to the shortage of those cars....
So realistically you would want to fill these check marks
1. Availability
2. Your budget range
3. Aftermarket support
Those 3 simple things is what I'd look for in a drift car
Now if it was me personally I'd go for a fox body mustang notchback with a 2JZ swap as I personally think that would be something completely different than what you normally see for some unique style plus the 2JZ can make some great power and is a light weight engine on a very well balanced platform.
Good point and yeah, after reading this, research may be your #1 if you want to get yourself into drifting or cars at all.

For the cars at the beginning, it's the beamer and the Mustang, cause the Mustang is from RTR (specialized in Formula Drift) And the beamer seems like a car from a drifting competition
Mustang because of power/weight balance. Easy to handle and more power to the rear wheels. Almost like a 350z size if you think about it but with a V8 and square body design. Also a very good drift car. At least in my opinion both seem to drive similarly.

I would say Asian has the best car for drifting because in Fast and Furious 2 they used a Nissan skyline R-34. The origin of drifting came from Japan because when you look at the history of drifting, you'll notice that it began in Japan with street racers doing Togue - racing their cars down tight twisting mountain roads. Drifting was formed when some of the more skilled drivers began sliding their vehicles sideways down these roads, keeping control on the very edge of grip.

AE86 is the perfect car to do drift
For me personally it´s the BMW E60 530ds with coilovers :D A lot of steering ration, you will never spin out and very easy to stay in the drift :)
Not 100% but I heard the e60 platform has some type of rear wheel steering for that specific purpose, I own an e92 so my research is very limited with the e60

I personally Drive an FC RX7 and I can't think of a better drift platform than that, RWD, lightweight and the beautiful BRAP BRAP sound from the Dual Rotor 13B engine. Japanese cars have always been known to be great drifters, Mazda RX7, Toyota AE86, Toyota supra, Nissan R32/R34, Mazda Miata, etc. I could name a lot more.
