Really interesting to see the internals of these older pieces of equipment! It seems like they made that bracket so that the only way to remove it was to drill out the rivets. I guess they didn't expect someone to tinker with it 70 years after it was manufactured!

(Sorry to hear the news of someone passing)...Well..an exciting finish there....I feel with friends like the long flat head, and a good steady hand, this project is done and dusted...nothing like a sticky gunge to get a new project pumping,,,good luck with part 2..

I take the whole shell apart and dig out the sticky lanolin. It makes a great ticky tacky substance for holdind screws on to a drivers.

Chris Cuff passed? That's awful... I learned a lot of what I know about record player repair from his channel.
    Rest in peace, Chris.
Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that the inside of the original cartridge is filled with grease for electrical insulation. After so many years, it usually leaks out all over the place. That's why everything surrounding the cartridge is covered in it.
Also, before you do anything with the cam, try and replace/rejuvenate the drive wheel first. The problem with the changing mechanism might be that the wheel is slipping due to age, not the cam slipping.

LIKE number 2 which is a fine hullaballoo. :)

Red wire goes to right channel on the new cartridge, white goes to left. bridge the two remaining posts and connect the black wire to it,. That creates a common ground for right and left.

I did see another video where the owner of an RCA player simply added an extra cable to convert it to a stereo player when he replaced the cartridge.

On the old cartridge, why didn't you just drill out the rivets?
