- Part 2 of 4, from my recent trip with my Brother, John to Cayo Coco. This time we head out of Paradon with our guide, Amed. Cubera Snapper were our target species, and we definitely hit the bullseye. I also share my top 4 lures for consistently catching fish in Cuba. If you stick it out to the end, this video includes a cool Hyperlapse tour through the City of Moron.
If you are heading down to the Cayo Coco area and are interested in some more cost effective fishing options, you can send my friend Yordan a PM through Facebook, he is a Cuban local and lives close by in the town of Moron. Yordan will most certainly be able to help hook you up, and at very affordable rates: / yordan.fg.39 - Tell him you got his contact from Big Shaun's RUclips channel so he knows what it's about. You can also check out Amed via his Facebook Page, he will be happy to help hook you up too. You can also call Yordan directly to arrange a trip, he can do shore or walk outs and inshore boat charters too.

*Note: You will need to bring down your own rods, reels, tackle and lures to fish inshore as the Cubans are very poor, they also cannot buy any fishing equipment on the island.

Awesome!
Awesome video. The water is so amazing. Man are you blessed with adventures!
Thank you (o:
A friend and I fish the same area with the same boat and captain. Always fun and catch a number of great fish, loose a number of fish and lures.
This year we are using a steel line between the Fluorocarbon and the bait in hopes of reducing losses.
Enjoy watch your shows and we hope to be doing our own in few weeks.
Hey Shaun, took your advice stocked up on all the lures you suggested. Went out deep sea fishing for 8 hours on this passed Wed in Cayo Santa Maria.
I now call the 6.5" Yo Zuri Mag Darter the Cuda Killer.... we caught 9! What an amazing trip! Thank you for the advice!
Thanks Shaun, there is very little info available on fishing in Cuba.
Hi Shaun, just seen your video for the first time. Nice to know there's someone with the same surname across the pond. I've fished Cuba many times over the years but haven't been there for about 4 years. I've also fished with Jordan many times myself. Great to see it's still fishing well over there. Great video brings back some good memories of being in Cuba 👍🏴
Thank you for the lure advise, off to Cayo Guillermo in 7 weeks, so most helpful. We met last last year in Cayo Coco, took me a minute or 2 to realise it was you LOL
Hi Lawrence, I cant seem to put a face to a name, if you are on Facebook send me a friend request so I can see what you look like to jog my memory. Have a great trip. I wish I was heading down again too, lots of snow here still... and bloody cold. Great to hear from you Lawrence 😁😎
Good to o see my beautiful Land!!!
😁😎👍

Another awesome video.... very informative! :)
Thank you (o:
Great video - I have been out to Cuba twice now, unfortunately weather has made it difficult for decent fishing
Thanks Matt. Yes, we have had a couple of trips where the weather has kept us on shore, when you're only there for 7 days it can be very disappointing.
Thank you for sharing your tips🙏. Question, those lures seem light in weight, how could you cast them far - specially on windy days? Do you put a lead off the leader?
we had several corrupted sd cards too. No salt water contact. I think the airport scanners a screening did the damage.
Yeh, it's happened twice to me now, the hard drive was fine but some cards I hadn't transferred over got corrupted.
Heading to cayo coco in a month what size were the spinning rods and reels?
expensive those lures…I can’t bear to think id lose a $40 lure to a reef. I’ll bring my scuba 🤿 stuff.
have you had any luck with pike or musky around Ontario ?
Yes, over the years we have caught many nice Pike on both frozen and open water. There are several really good spots right near the city too. The only Musky I've had out of Lake Ontario were on the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, big fish! Most of the Musky fishing I do around here is about 90 minutes north of me in the Kawartha Lakes, a beautiful area. I primarily fish Lower Buckhorn Lake, Lovesick Lake and Stoney Lake. You will find some videos of the area in the list on my home page.
Do you fish your lures fast Shaun ?
Yes Stewart, incorporating twitches
Hey Shaun, I see you're taking St. Croix mojo rods.. are they 1 pc? Just curious what the airline charges you ? I am flying out with AirTransat soon and am nervous about what they may try charge for my plano tube with my rods in it.
Hi Dan, yes they are one piece. I carry them in a 7ft Bazooka rod case, and I have never been charged by Sunwing, West Jet or Air Transat, they fall under the category of 'Sporting Equipment'. I do buy an extra case for my tackle though, cheers 👍
@@ShaunOutdoors thanks man, I should be golden.

Yes he would for sure, he takes singles all the time. his contact info is in the description below the video. You can also call Yordan, he can do shore or walk outs and inshore boat charters too.

Shaun Rickard thanks for the reply I will call him as soon as I land I will be staying at melia cayo guillermo is he far from there,
Can you recommend and places I should go near there
No worries, he services the Melia Cayo Guillermo. He can point you to all the sites and things to do too. He lives in Moron, no Cubans live on the islands.
And FYI, you may want to call and make plans prior to your trip, if your timing is off and he is busy you may not make it out, cheers!
