Yuma Hize has a strong will to protect everyone. As a rookie investigator of SKIP, the Scientific Kaiju Investigation and Prevention center, he works hard every day on his job to prevent, investigate, and deal with kaiju disasters. Then one day, Shu Ishido from the Global Defense Force shows up...
They soon find themselves in danger while going after the kaiju Shagong. That's when “he” appeared in front of Yuma.

Can we just appreciate the fact that they integrated the translated writing into the show itself like the news report or the writing on Yuma's childhood Arc drawing! (In the original verison, they are in Japanese) Most professional english anime releases don't even do that!

Yeah! I can imagine how much effort went into it but it also worked so well to do so.
That 3-minute single shot fight scene was great! And I like that they're not starting with an origin story, but having Yuma be someone who has already transformed and fought a few times.
The dub cast did a great job, and I'm so glad this is an option for us English speaking Ultra fans. Can't wait to see more!
Still there are those who clamor for origin story like uncivilized people.. yeah, I looking at those people who complained about uktraman rising

I love how arc breaks the shield and stabs the kaiju, creative like ace
I can suspect Arc will have all kinds of fun techniques based not just on Yuma's imagination, but his own creativity too to fit the "Unleash your imagination!" premise. :)

Anyone working in an office can relate to what Ishido did. In Coromon, coffee is refered to as "Motivation in a mug"
Immediate first impression upon finishing the episode:
Man, this introduction wastes no time putting its foot down on the gas and flooring it! Hopefully we’ll get some moments to breathe later down the line so we’re not left in the dust.
The kaiju fight was damn interesting, though. Seeing the timer show up in the corner (and seeing it tick on during the fight!) was cool. Loved the Obari pose at the end!
I wish Kamen Rider would get this kind of dub support. It would probably become even more popular in the west than it is currently if it had a channel like this to upload both older and newer seasons on.

@@Dawnelldo2 Yeah. It would also make it much easier to get the new generation in on the series. My nephew recently turned 10 and he's really into superheroes, but I know he's not much for subtitles. But I know he would probably really like Kamen Rider if there was a good dub.
I agree. What they need though, is to find a Kamen Rider series to choose to dub first. Gundam didn't get popular in the US until they dubbed Gundam Wing. I think Build is the perfect series to start with.
@@DocLantern85 I'd say Zero One would be a good first choice. It's not too complicated to follow, but still tells a good story that actually hold relevance in today's society.

@@caswellweird Zero has had 4 VAs. Sean did Zero because he's part of a dubbing company that started doing English dubs for Ultraman. Prior to that, TsuPro just hired English VAs living in Japan. TsuPro current VA for Zero is Eric Kelso.

I see a lot of comments mentioning this 3-minute thing. Has Ultraman fights always been only been 3 minutes?
@@tomboyraider1015 originally when Ultraman first aired. They opted for him to be on screen for only 3 minutes. So the shows back then had this segment where he can only remain on earth for 3 minutes. If 3 minutes pass and the monster’s still up, he dies
Later on this became a prominent part of the series. Both to keep stakes high and to allow appropriate timing for each episode’s pacing
Hence yea, the 3 minute rule. Hope that explains it ( ᗜ‸ᗜ )

4:36 The original version does not include the notations "HISTORY", "RIN", "CHIEF", and "GRANDMA". It was added for the English dub. In particular, "GRANDMA" subtly explains Yuuma's personality. It may be explained in more detail in the story in the future.

Tsuburaya absolutely clowning on Toei with this amazing dub.
fantastic first episode, the camera work is stellar, the fight scene was mesmerizing and the global story is intriguing! There was also a big "Showa feel" in some shots, like with the electric tanks scene or Yuma regrouping with the other SKIP members while screaming "HEY!", great shout out.
Shagong is really cute. I also liked YouPi too, he is so silly.
I can't wait for what Arc has to offer next!
They also did a great job with a Heisei vibes as well, and the opening theme sound like a anime, and also the scene reminded me of Ultraman Taiga.
I want to say how much I appreciate the little touches for this English version, such as the headlines and monster titles. As for the episode, I’m a little torn on the team, but goodness gracious, that BATTLE!! Arc has me VERY intrigued 😁

YouPi’s defiantly a new favorite Ultra robot. I also love the semi-classic and simple design of Arc. The idea that the main team isn’t the one that fights the Kaiju is great (I assume this isn’t the first time it’s been done, but it’s different from the usual, so that’s nice).

_Ultraman Orb_ also had a proper Science Patrol expy, but IIRC the majority of the character drama was with Gai Kurenai (or "the Crenai Guy" if you read the machine-translated intro booklets from the Mill Creek BD release) interacting with a bunch of paranormal investigators-slash-cryptid hunters.

The time limit is roughly 3 minutes. Doesn’t have to be the exact time.

Not all Ultras follow the time limit rule. Ultras from the Neo Frontier universe somewhat follows that rule but they can extend it through their sheer will. Some others have them act like a healthbar.

As much as I like the original Japanese track, I think I enjoy the dub more, not least because Paul Castro Jr. basically turns Yuma into a Shonen hero 😂
I really like this ep!!! Mostly some scenes and fighting like Using shield and attack,Yuma Imaginations,Beam finisher like ace,and sword summoning and slashing finish that was so coool and i really like flying rainbow arc

I’m loving this series! Especially with the opening, the song feels it gives hope at 2:11 with a kid drawing of Ultraman Arc follow by Ultraman Arc transformation.

According to the opening where Ultraman Arc's will-be/future opponents were featured, Kanegon will be there (but will that be good or bad?) while the rest are new person or species.
At least the henshin items aren't coin-shaped this time around, so it should be fine.

Nice of Tsuburaya to create an english channel for Ultraman fans who are not Japanese or in another country. This episode went as far as translate the larger text of course the smaller ones remained the same. Shows Tsuburaya's dedication to the worldwide fanbase bringing Ultraman to the world to see. Course then there is me who will stick to JP because I grew up kind of watching it that way and it's just how I roll.

I didn't realize it the first time watching, but the final battle being shot as one continuous take was an obvious nod to Ultraman Jack's battle with Muruchi in the famous episode 33.
very nice, really like the new monster, shagong is pretty cool and did not expected a kamboes neck but either way really cool, also ARC was very cool, also didn't not expect him to flipping stab shagong like that , over really great ep, can't wait for the next one!

It's more likely they'll bring over all the ultra series that have dub tracks first [like blazar, Z and Trigger] and then release dubs for the rest, with the idea being to make a purely english dub channel for ultraman.
