      What unit?
I've done about 15 Remembrance day parades.
I was at the 125 Gettysburg an other events, the 125th parade was HUGE!
Nearly 6000 participants! I live an hour from Gettysburg, but we had participants from all over the US as well as Germany, Australia, England and Ireland.
So sad about all the threats and security issue these days.

I haven't been in this parade for about 5 years. Back and leg issues unfortunately. I go to Gettysburg regularly though.
I do SCV color guard, 2nd Maryland CSA, as well as signal corps.
So glad you got to enjoy such a special event.

Next year in April, I'm visiting Gettyburgh or the US for the first time. I look forward to seeing the famous battlefield with my own eyes. Best regards from Colonia Germany

Wonderful to know our friends in Germany will visit and appreciate Gettysburg. I hope your trip will be safe and full of amazing and wonderful people and memories!
My mother's family were Prussian, arriving in Baltimore in the 1840s.
My father's family were in southern Maryland since the 1640s!
I have many family members that foughtfor the Confederacy at Gettysburg, mainly on Culps Hill.
For so many the impact of the war effected us for generations and we love and appreciate our history.
This parade culminates the reenactment season with a great togetherness event of the anniversary.
I am a Confederate reenactor, been to so many Gettysburg events including this event. Thankfully I'm only a short drive away.
Sadly with so many terrorist threats against this parade its future is in doubt. But we will persevere!
Gettysburg is truly a sacred place, hallowed ground. It's also fascinating and interesting, please visit and enjoy the experience.

25 percent of the Southern Army were Barefooted during the March and battle. They were also on average 30 pounds under weight. The average Civil war soldier healthy weighed about 130 pounds. Yet they still marched and fought like demons possessed. The Southern Army was hard to corner becuase they marched so fast. Stonewall Jackson marched his men 6 days a week about 30 miles a day to train them before the war. It paid off in the Shenandoah. Three Union Armies tried for almost two years and never succeeded.
