This tutorial will show you step by step how to remove your shifter out of your Charger Magnum 300 Chry/Dodge car. For the sole purpose of repairing the shifter or to just simply replace it. I have reman shifters for sale. Hi I hope you read this. This happened to me 6 months ago and I replaced the plastic part with the metal piece. everything was fine until yesterday. Would not shift. I took everything apart again and everything was fine. The spring was still on and everything. The only thing is that it did not shift unless I hold the pink piece toward the back. any ideas? thanks!
Great video. You should note that if you own an 05-06 model, the shifter know screws on/off, unlike the one in this video.
i try pulling my shift knob on a chrysler 300 touring (2006), no luck. then i start turning it. lefty loosey - righty tighty then wala!! you just gotta turn it until it is loose. just like a papercar aka toyota

Have an 06 charger did everything u said every piece all that but got it loose and all that but still wont come up something in the back is holding it.
Ive seen some thats just stubborn and dont wanna release. You just gotta really pull if its the pull type

will a shifter off a 09 fit a 07 magnum?
it depends on the trans, they both have to have same trans and engine. Meaning if one has a hemi, the other should, or if one has a Nag trans, the other should have.

hey I have a question.. if the shifter moves from park to drive but when I try and move it back to to park the shifter will move but on the dash it will stay in drive what could be the problem
that signal come from the trans prndl switch..depends on what trans you have but that's electrical..You should have a fault code in one of the modules to put you in the right direction
I'm a bit confused you mean the neutral safety switch ..the reason why I can find anytime saying the prndl switch or is it the same thing and its not reading a code on the dash.
You gonna need a chry approved scan tool..All codes will not appear on dash..Plus you leaving out way to much info for me to no exactly what it is you trying to say/do..The VIN will tell tech helpers all they need to no about your car..

Like he said, some knobs screw off which is true! I worked on a 300 built April 2004 and it had a screw off knob. They look identical and there's no way to tell if it's the pop off knob or the screw off knob. So if it doesn't pop right off, Then it's the screw off knob. Just grab it with both hands and unscrew it.
He also said the console has to be removed on some. I removed the 3 screws at the bottom of the storage area of the console and it lifts up an inch to slide the shifter assembly out.

Replaced the pink part, gear selector assembly and brake light switch, still get stuck intermittently

My instrument cluster will not line up in park , reverse, neutral, drive and so on..
I want to thank you. We paid $10 for the replacement part. We could not get the ashtray out, so we removed the 3 screws in the center console storage and lifted up so we could remove shifter.
What pushes in? so i can lift up on the shifter without breaking it. It's hard to see from the video..no light

My shifter knob wouldn't come off no matter what I did. Even with a pickle fork pry bar against a piece of wood. Fortunately there is enough space to pop the bottom of the base and pivot at and angle. Then I pulled the broken plastic piece out and and repaired it.

Hi can you tell me what's the name of this part I'm going to try n put a picture. Will is not allowing me to send a picture but is the black cable on the right side that you used a screwdriver to pop the part out before you pushed it up

You r legit my man. I've watched so many videos that have you twist off the gear knob when in reality on certain models your supposed to lift up on it. Good stuff my man

There is a recall on certain models. Call your local dealer, give them your vin and they can check for you
well I dont have a problem with my shifter sticking in park, just want crank unless I jiggle the shifter. and while im driving and mash the peddle full throttle it doesnt down shift. even if i manually down shift. no idea whats causing this.

Great tutorial, thanks. You say simply do this and simply do that a lot, to my surprise it actually was simple. Your vid and the Billet Custom part is a nice inexpensive fix for the poorly engineered "pink part".
