- Abby had to take the glucose test which meant doing a 12 hour fast until she could complete the test. It definitely wasn't fun, but it was worth it to find out if she had gestational diabetes.

I had lost a pregnancy as well and now I am pregnant again but I got a call that my hcg dropped between blood pulls two days apart, so they have to check that everything is okay next week. I am scared but I’m trying to stay positive.

I had triplets and the drink wasn’t bad at all! I did have the gestational diabetes and bed ridden whole pregnancy . I’m so blessed they are 16 all girls and healthy today!

The glucose test not prego is drink & draw 6x’s to test for diabetes or insulin resistance! After infertility pcos i knew i had to do the the test! & give shots of insulin! Your active & health so your good!!🧡🌺🙏🏼🦋🧡
With my first baby I gave birth at almost 43 weeks .. I was so big and my face and feet were so swollen that I just wanted to get over with it …. The third trimester is brutal😂😂 … but it is worth it … just seeing you makes me wanna get pregnant again ! You are beautiful❤️
I didn’t have gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy and she weighed 9 lbs 4 oz 21.5” long, vaginal birth! FIRST BABY!!!!
Second baby, I had gestational diabetes, plus was on bed rest my first trimester (I was massively bleeding). However, I delivered full term. Zero complications. Girl 10 lbs 4 oz and 21.5” long. A pound bigger than her big sister. I was done after this. Baby factory closed.
For all 3 of my pregnancies, I took the drink at home an hour before my appointment. I don’t know why some doctors want you to be in the office and others don’t.

I just finished my glucose test last week. I am due 7-7 with a little boy as well. Glad we both passed. With my daughter I failed the first one and had to do the second test. I was so worried and this one was a lot easier for me. I'm excited our boys will be arriving about the same time :)

Coming from a phlebotomist, YOU ARE allowed to have water. And even some light breakfast. I mean, unless your doctor actually told you not to due to something to do with your own health then that’s different but that sucks that they made you fast for the rest when it’s not an actual requirement 🤨 I had a lot of water before going in, it’s super important especially during a blood draw. ESPECIALLY bc you’re pregnant but hey, I’m glad it went good and maybe for next pregnancy ask if fasting is really necessary. Best of luck, I’m due in June myself and I’m so anxious to meet baby (we kept the gender a secret) 🙏🏼❤️
I remember my glucose test. We have 4 kids. 21, 16, 14, and 2. Yeah, I know. Our 2 year old was a SURPRISE LOL. I’m so excited for y’all
I had gestational diabetes and had to do the 3 hour test😭 The diabetes wasn’t too bad for me but it’s definitely not fun haha. So glad you don’t have it!

ur so lucky all 3 of my kids I stayed small and all my kids were healthy . my daughter and my second son they were each 5 pounds my first son was 7,11 and I was small with all three I wanted to get big I always was jealous of the girls who got big I was so tiny even in my last month of being pregnant I put a sweater on and u couldn't see I was even pregnant really at all. the doctor said I just held my pregnancys good.
Poor Abby though, exited to see the baby boy!!
I find it so Interesting that every Dr does things differently I was told the opposite, I was told to eat a nice healthy breakfast before my test, nothing sugary just like toast and eggs they told me to have protein

I live in Canada and didn't have to do a glucose test by drinking that stuff. It was all bloodwork. Then again that was 24 years ago. Lol❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤
Hey big fan of both your RUclips channel and tiktok. I'm a fellow RUclipsr and tiktoker myself. Back then I had to do the same thing with no eating or drinking when I had to go for my glucose lucky enough though the doctor told me and my mom that I will never have diabetes.
I'm with Abby. The stuff is not that bad, just drink it and get it over with. Why drag it out for 5 minutes? The three hour test does stuck. I had g.d. with my first child, so with my second, they skipped the one hour and went straight to the three hour.

For me the 1 hour drink wasn’t bad… I failed the test so I had to do the 3 hour test and that drink is the same size but has 2x as much sugar so it’s way grosser 😩😩😩 glad you won’t need the second test!! 🙏🏼❤️

I had to drink the orange one. It was just like a super sweet Fanta. Thankfully they didn’t make me drink the entire thing. I had HG so they went easy on me.

The drink itself isn’t so bad but how you feel after is awful! Girl I dealt with major swelling too during my first pregnancy. It was crazy, my feet and ankles hurt n throbbed the last couple months of my pregnancy! You look amazing Abby!!!
I worked at a lab that administered the glucose tests, you absolutely can drink water and even eat a small low sugar meal prior. (like scrambled eggs) It’s really not safe for pregnant women to fast, so glad you are okay!!

I’m pregnant with my second and I’m smaller than I was with my first and not nearly as swollen as soon. Every pregnancy is different and beautiful in its own way 🥰 also, not sure how bad Abby’s first trimester was but that was the worst time in pregnancy for me. The third this time hasn’t been too bad at all!

My test flavor was orange but I thought that it just taste like a really crappy flat sprite and I got to drink it cold which was very satisfying after the thirst lol! Always happy to hear your little dudes news! 🤙🏼
I had GD last pregnancy, and am crossing my fingers SO hard I don’t have it again this time. I take my first glucose test next week. Wish me luck!!

For sure it is the sugar drink! My Dr told me both times when we were expecting that if I haven’t felt baby wiggle around much for a bit and I’d like to get them moving for my own ease, to drink some OJ :) and poof * baby wiggles commence! Abby you look so darn adorable! We are taking our little family to the Grand Canyon this week for the first time ever! God Bless❤️❤️❤️
So glad you don’t have it. I got gestational diabetes at 24 Weeks pregnant. It was awful, felt nauseous 24/7 and luckily I had the pen type dispenser.
Was able to administer it myself. However the further along I got, I was having to inject more and more insulin. My son was delivered at 33 weeks, he was tiny, so beautiful.
Was awful watching them take blood to test him. They prick under their foot, he would scream.
After we were home, luckily he was perfect and I was off the insulin injections straight away.
I ended up getting Type 2 diabetes, as my overnight fasting wouldn’t lower. When I am active in the day it was fine, but overnight I was completely insulin resistant.
I manage it via a vegetarian diet and avoidance of all things sweet :)

Every pregnancy is different mama! I had symptoms with my first, and didn’t have it, couldn’t finish the test with my second I would vomit every time so they monitored my blood sugary anyway and didn’t have symptoms with my third and had it! The mystery’s of the body! Congrats lady!! You’re rocking the pregnancy glow!
ALSO. No body tells you depends pad underwear is your best friend the first 6 weeks after birth! ❤

I’m 5’1” and I felt sooooo stretched and uncomfortable during my first pregnancy! Tall people feel it too but Im sure it’s a little different being tiny! Lol Hang in there girl!

I'm sitting at my glucose test right now, what a coincidence! They gave me fruit punch and it was not bad at all for taste. 40 minutes to go until my blood test for it 🤞

@@doglover8440 It wasn't awful but unfortunately I was 4 points over the limit so I have to do the 3hr test now, better be safe than sorry though! And yes I got them super quickly, like an hour after I took the test they were available online and then my Dr called this morning to confirm

The drink itself wasn’t bad. It was the nausea afterwards for me. 😅
You can absolutely still drink water before your glucose test! I can’t believe you deprived yourself of water 😅 It will not affect your results at all. I hope that wasn’t an instruction from your doctor. Pregnant women in particular need to stay very hydrated!
They made you not drink water..? I’m pretty sure they just recommend that the morning of you eat normally and nothing with excessive carbs… correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what my experience was like.
I was looking for this comment. Maybe they were instructed no water. From what I've seen plain water should be okay, just no food or beverages with carbohydrates for an oral glucose tolerance test. Lots of foods can have small amounts of carb so that's why they have the rule of no food at all.

@@issabellrevere8205 that explains it then; I was like hmm with my son I was able to drink water and I was able to eat breakfast as long as it was like eggs and bacon or something like that but nothing like a bagel or French toast etc.
@@lizcastlespalace4534 yeah I was told I could drink any CLEAR liquid until midnight 🤷🏻♀️ not sure why clear but I just stuck to water.
Water is the only exception to the no food or drink rule. It doesn’t have any sugar or anything that will mess with the test. It’s crucial for a pregnant woman to have water. It’s too late now but for the next one you don’t have to suffer with no water for night time.
Fasting for pregnant women isn't good... its bad for the baby health and you might have struggles with delivery. btw I'm a nurse so I know all about it. Sara xx

Matt is so sweet!!!!! I had to get surgery on my foot and I couldn't eat or drink for that long either and it was horrible. I feel your pain Abby. I couldn't eat from 12am to 2pm:(
