Examples: Diddy, Eminem, Kid Rock, Pitbull (all of whom were at one time winners or nominees for pop/rock male). Today's artists need to show a little more respect for the pioneers, man.
True, he's a rapper! Your point is valid. He's not Luther or Teddy Pendergrass or Al Green. But the charts don't lie. You have to admit that the music of this era is a lot better than what is out there today. They'll nominate anybody with a pulse and street credibility.

He got two groups of background singers, two set of drums, horns, background dancers and a hypeman. No other hip hop artist can pull this off then and now. Hammer is, I believe, one of the top ten best performers of all time. He knew how to put on a show and entertain the crowd. Clean entertainment, I might add.

I met Hammer back in the '90's after the release of "Can't Touch This!", at The Good Guys in Santa Clara. He drove up in a old Ford van 5 mins before closing with just his body guard. While he was there, he took pictures, signed autographs, and taught some us his dance moves in one of our sound rooms. Bottom line, he is a really humble and giving person. No matter how famous he got, he always treated everyone the same.
Junella Segura the young lady dancing to the left of Hammer have done well in the world of choreography . She have choreographed many videos , awards shows , tours & went on to choreograph Beyoncé & Destiny's Child ! She also teaches dance @ the Tupac school of arts in Stn Mountain Ga.
