When you use your boxs in the vertical position how do you hold your traps in place ?

I just wedge the trap in place using the springs.

Have you had any plastic ones get brittle/shatter from the cold, maybe after some action or disturbance, or just in a few seasons of use? I see in your videos you make your own short wooden martin/fisher boxes mostly... do you think the plastic ones would warp or anything say after a freezing rain or improper storage, maybe cause a hangup or foul the set?

No to all that BUT I have found that the traps don't stay well inside of the box on a vertical set which most of mine are. The plastic is slippery and when the critter tries to climb into the box he slips so he uses the trap to pull himself up. Sometimes with fisher the trap comes out of the box and the critter escapes. I use them just on leaning poles now and I just had one where a tree fell on a plastic box. Warm it up a bit and it went back to shape good as new.

@@TrappingIncTV Nice, good to know! I'd like to start getting into Martin and Lynx up here in Alaska. Fishers would be neat, but I guess they don't make it as far up as us. I have reached out for some rules regulations from the trappers guild in Fairbanks..gotta find some land and make sure no one else has an established line in the area, make sure it follows park rules or Game Management Unit guidelines... maybe next year I'll see you down the line! I appreciate all of the insight Rich, thank you!

Have close to 100 plastic boxes like them because they are light and don’t take up much room. Tie them on a horizontal pole between two trees. I store them in shed over summer and in winter I put beaver meat in back of box when it is warm and it freezes there. Have Savageau and belisie traps with foot pans. Yes this is a bit more work to set up but never had a fisher caught by nose or leg and all Martin are suitcased and hanging in air to keep fur damage to a minimum.

@@philipjean1086 can you use the plastic ones in a vertical set or too slippery? I currently use plastic square boxes I get free from Co-Op but would like to switch to the green plastic so I can hang vertical as not always easy finding good lean too tree.
