  • Icon Rocklear Vs XPEL PPF scratch and toughness testing, PROOF it works!
Since posting that my business Wicked auto styling is selling Icon Rocklear installations we've gone viral on IG and Tiktok but mainly due to the massive amount of extremely emotional detailers getting angry over a product they've never tried or can't afford the buy in. We've been called scammers dozens of times now and been asked for proof even though we don't really care about proving whether a product works to a bunch of whiny internet detailers, but we do care about proving it to our customer base! So here is a test done by another Icon Rocklear installer demonstrating that it took the same amount of force to damage the Rocklear as it did to damage the PPF. I would say that is incredible strength for a coating that is only a fraction of the thickness of PPF. Ceramic coating will 100% not do this.
Here is proof that this amazing new coating technology is indeed as tough as they say it is at protecting paint. it may not be PPF or be the same thickness but it can handle a lot before actually damaging your paint.

I don't see much point to this test. The real test is the paint damaged when you pull off PPF. Will any of it self heal? etc.

It’s to show how much force it takes to damage paint theology this stuff showing how strong it is in comparison to ppf.

This was a great test. Good job.

Hello sir, I have a new batch of polishing machines recently. Would you be interested in helping me test them?

I’m not sure of the scientific benefit of this specific method. 10 pounds of pressure at the tip of a nail is only representative of a key as far as I can tell. The coating also lasts 15+ years. There’s a clear winner here when comparing the benefits of both, but weighing them to the cost. PPF film won’t fill in any scratches and swirls either.

Ppf is not invincible either so a nail will do damage, ppf does also hide swirl marks and defects as well

Terrible test, more puncture than a scratch test :( Attach metal brushes onto the same rig to drag across, then compare.

lol so negative “terrible test” Why use metal brushes when trying to show the amount of force it takes to penetrate through this product vs how much it takes to penetrate and damage the paint beneath under the ppf. Metal brushes will only leave fine surface scratches.

Take the ppf of and show how much there is actual damage in the paint.

@@jetu82 it went through, you can see in the video the scrape marks. Although I’m
Not sure how you expect us to just take it off 😂 the video is already filmed, many months ago.
