The high cost of sending money for thousands residing in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries remains a key constraint in a market featuring different actors with different solutions. Enter the BankservAfrica Transactions Cleared on an Immediate Basis (TCIB) Payments Scheme, a regulated ecosystem of banks and non-banks with the common vision of breaking the cycle of high costs and limited choice by offering broad-based interoperability, among others, and promoting intraregional trade. In this session, we share a view on an African solution by Africa and for Africa, and how TCIB operates within a complex environment of different players, regulatory and compliance requirements, and market needs. We share more about the power of collaboration for harmonising and uniting diverse regional cross-border payments systems.
