My parents had an excel spreadsheet and we got paychecks every two weeks. We also had to pay “taxes” when we did things that were bad, which was mostly getting a bad grade (C or worse) for us. Getting straight A’s was $300.00 (a hefty sum in the 90s)
I have 4 kids under 7. Paying kids is a form of positive reinforcement. So, yes it works. But, I also use negative reinforcement and more often punishment. The goals are to instill productivity and work ethic, teaching responsibility, and giving parents a break
We got paid for A's and B's on report cards. A's paid more. Ha. I think household jobs that benefit the whole family are something to be considered for paying kids. Mowing the grass, doing the family dishes, taking out the garbage, washing/folding clothes, all on a regular basis and WITHOUT COMPLAINING. Cleaning/straightening your own bedroom does not benefit the whole family. Sometimes if we really wanted something, parents might agree to pay half, but we had to earn the other half. Made us appreciate what we purchased more when part of it was our own money.
in THE EARLY 1970''s y sons got paid $100 a week for doing their chores (making their bed, cleaning their room, helping the kitchen etc.) I opened up savings account for the at the credit union. I taught the this; put .25 cents into the church basket 25 cents into the savings account 25 cents to spend as they wished and 25 cents to save for a "large purchase" They got introduced to how money works how the credit unions works, how it feels to save and so on y sons grew up highly money savvy. This worked well for us
When my kids were growing up, they had some chores because thats what you do as family, but other chores they did get paid for and learned how to manage their money.
I appreciate this information & advice. Should we require (ages 12 & older) to record what they have done in order to be paid? Can you please give any advice? Thank you!
!I am at the beginning of my "investment journey", planning to put 285K into dividend stocks so that I will be making up to 30% per year in dividend returns. any good recommendation on great performing stocks or Crypto will be appreciated.

how would you recommend i enter the crypto market? I am also looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach? and How can i reach her, if you don't mind me asking??
I gave my kids a deadline to finish their chores. If they missed the deadline they didn’t get paid. If they did only the chore that was asked to the bare minimum, they got a little bit of money for it. If they did their very best and it was a clean as I would have done it, they made more.
I don't know any kids that ever got paid for chores for their own home. We did had jobs or did chores for people outside our home. We were taught differently back in the day. We take things for granted and have respect for our parents struggles. I miss those days ❤

I go one step further and give my boys extra money for being safe drivers.
They love it
I love it
And the insurance company loves it.
For my kids, no pay for their own chores, but I will pay them if they do my chores.

I dont believe in kids having cell phones
We never had kids but agree with your thinking. We are 59/60 years old & our folks followed your advice.
When I was a kid, my siblings & I didn’t get paid for doing chores. But we did pay for not doing chores by getting spanked or grounded.

Good video
Some kids don't even have chores. 🥴

look up her name on the web for her website.

There are way better ways to induce positive reinforcement. Paying them ain’t of of them that’s for sure, be prepared for spoiled teen years

I just want to say that I've never asked my mother for money because of chores.
