"C.G. Jung, Individuation and the Red Book": Murray Stein in conversation with Stefano Carpani

- Dr. Murray Stein and I met in October 2018 in his praxis in Zurich where once Mozart spent the night and played violin! We talked about C.G: Jung, individuation, dreams, the Red Book and its relevance today.
We also discussed few passages from the original play he wrote with Henry Abramovitch, titled "The Analyst and the Rabbi".
Gratitude for this thoughtful conversation. There is something remarkable to me in here at the very end of the conversation. Dr. Stein defines Love as that which connects. Of course through connection whether material or spiritual, biological or inert, sympathy and therefore empathy is possible... which is the "stuff" that Love is made of. My paraphrasing, but I do believe that Love as connection is astonishing. Connection also creates possibility. I am induced to turn towards the reality principle of Karma. The essence of interdependence being the connection between cause and effect, Buddhism puts it in the center of its system of understanding. Even now, when I think or use the word Karma, I still have a negative priori. It seems to carry a negative bias, sort of like a cautionary tale that is meant to undergird the super-ego. But now, thanks to Murray Stein sharing his idea of Love being the connection, or that which connects, I see Karma as Love. Therefore this "difficult" word Love as he cautioned in the beginning, brings a needed equanimity to the a priori negative bias of the word Karma. Karma could be interchanged with Love. There still are layers though. Karma is still active when connection is seemingly not. For it is always there. So, perhaps Love as the connection, or Karma, requires an acknowledgement, a participation, consciousness. Understanding? Willingness? Acceptance? Perception?
My only criticism of the video is that it’s audio is hard to hear. Otherwise, extremely educational and valuable. Looking forward to more videos like this one.
I would have enjoyed more the answer to the question 'What is the essence of the Self?' and 'How does the Self communicate with the ego and vise versa?' I believe there is a multi-complex mechanism that drives the life of individuals and even nations that is very difficult to grasp, yet with perseverance an understanding of it can bear fruit. As Plato shares with us the analogy of the cave and images flickering on a wall, he also tells us about how stepping out into the light reveals so much more of what our perception could be. This, in my understanding, is what the 'Self' is aiming to achieve on an individual and global basis - for each and everyone it IS different, obviously subjective, but as Stein says about the dream and the active but sleeping mind, human perception of reality has the capacity to see so much more.

@Dr.Murray.Stein. Carl Jung pulled back later in life that his phaternal grandfather was the illegitamate son of goethe, and that sofie ziegler his great grandmother only was a friend of goehtes niese..source: wikipedia.

Is it just me or does his voice sound like a whisper? Much of it is nearly impossible to hear. I guess i'll try to watch it on my desktop with captions on later but as quiet as it is i'm not sure auto captions will work.
