Its animalistic and amazing it's weird it's like it has a spirit or soul. Guess that's what happens when you put 3 of the greatest minds in car history together.
Ive been very fortunate in life to get my priorities straight...in 1996 i was 21 and made 21k...i saw a magazine at the book store of the 1996 gts viper...it woke me up...long story short the viper motivated me and i decided i have to work harder...in 2010 my hard work paid off...sure its just a car...but it was a motivational experience that paid off...yes i won it in a poker game...but still...the car was a goal...bigger then a tangible object...life 😁
I was gonna buy one when I was 22 but I imagined the repaired costs and insurance plus me loosing all that money if I wreck it... I opted for a firebird instead no regrets still driving it
I always had a soft spot for the first gen cars. I finally bought one a while back, and I fell in love. They are truly fantastic cars, with interesting quirks, and I have never gotten bored of it yet. I have never owned a domestic before, but the Viper is my first, and I'm in love.
My dad was the maintenance manager at Connor Assembly Plant up until about a year and a half ago and I always went into work with him and the amount of pride that the builders of the Viper had was insane. True story; one of the Viper’s road testers complained to FCA that his back hurt from driving Vipers all day (how ridiculous is that?) but rather than tell him to take a hike FCA built him a custom seat set up to prevent the pain. Also I was able to meet Ralph Giles four times, he has a white Viper with the license plate Voodoo and everyone who worked at the factory (including me because I happened to be there that day) signed the inside of the Decklid.
Also, as I was lucky enough to attend the ‘closing’ ceremony of Connor Assembly and I overheard the plant manager tell someone to not be surprised if FCA announced a Viper ‘replacement’ by the end of next year.
It was so cool, the last viper ever Produced was sold to a woman named D’ann Rauh, she owns over 80 vipers and lives in Texas. The coolest part about going to work with my dad (he now works at Warren Truck) was seeing how precise the production was. They only made 3 a day because over 90% of production was by hand. To call it a factory doesn’t tell the whole story, the floors were perfectly polished everyday and there were showcars all over the place. More of a museum really, such a cool place.
List of Vehicles you need to do. Ae86 Sti nsx S2000 Eclipse Charger Corvette Boxter ( re-upload it ) Integra Mr2 Celica Focus/fiesta And just for shits and giggles, Reliant robin
Benji 2600 The AE86 was only for one year though and the rest of the Corrolla line was pretty lame afterwards. The S2000 hardly had any changes and only 2 series models AP1 and AP2 and the final year Club Racer model. They did the Type-R Civic with a nod to the Teggy but there are only two Tegs really to be mentioned the DC2 and the DC5 Type Rs and the rare DB8 4 door Type R which Donut didn't mention, that was the first 4 door Honda to have the Type R badge. The rest of your list would be nice especially the MR2 and Corvette not to mention the 911 which has to be done.
If Corvette lovers keep running their mouths, they may just bring it out sooner. Cuz we all know, Corvette likes to run and hide whenever the Viper comes out. 😂😂
@@KingDeadMan bull According the absolute sheer dominance of the ALMS (or now IMSA) the C6.R Corvette was the best car ever built. If you go all the way back to 97 Corvette has won every single season in their class except 2017 when Aston beat them in the last race due to a flat tire. And they single handedly shut down the GT1 class. Aston, Porsche, and Jag all went to GT2 and Dodge quit
I’m an American (US Citizen to specify which American country) Engineer - my team and I use the metric system every day. Most cars manufactured in the US use metric hardware (Toyota, Honda, Nissan etc) and most US owned car companies (GM, Ford, Dodge etc) while typically manufactured in Canada and Mexico are bi-curiously using hardware from both systems for some insane reason.
+Neg Ative I frankly know of nothing on a 2018 dodge chevy or ford that is measured in inches except wheel diameter, pressures such as tire pressure oil pressure boost and vaccum, and speedo, odo, and mpg. Nothing mechanical besides wheel diameter.
I'm a Corvette guy, fell in love with it the first time I laid my eyes on one...but I have a lot of respect for the Viper as its proved the world wrong time and time again! Awesome looks, Awesome sound, Awesome Name!!! ...and it's American 🇺🇸
@joecugo I don't know. Maybe it was bad marketing, maybe it was bad timing, maybe there were other cars in that period that offered more for less, maybe it was everything above combined. All i'm saying is that poor sales doesn't mean it's ugly. There are many examples of beautiful exotic cars that didn't sell at all. It happens. While the new viper is not as distinctive as the old one, the base shape is there and it's just more angry because people like angry cars nowadays. It's not that it's uglier than the previous models, just different. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway.
and as Chevy has found need to copy, again, the lines of a Dodge, in the corvette, people are feeling good about buying a cheaper, I mean cheaper, car that tries to copy....now lets look at the new mustangs..anyone see a challenger in that back side window???? should i keep going? macsmith2013 i did it almost daily in my 2004 svt cobra that handled like a dream baby but im a die hard bmw fan and am not narrow minded about brands. Saying american cars can't turn tells me 1 you don't live in the greatest country in the world: the U S of fucking A 2 you have never owned a real american sports car Or 3 you don't know how to drive a car to its limits (MOST LIKELY THIS ONE)
I drove one back in like 96 i think. it' was harder to control then a mustang. it had a lot of power more then it could put to the ground. crazy off the wall over steer for no reason 10 times worse then a mustang. it would spine the wheels all the way to 4th gear from a dead stop .it was touchy and unstable in curves. you have to be a real driver to control this thing or it will kill you. hell of a car. we needs cars like that in the world.
Yup, that is the single scariest car on the road, it needed better brakes on the roads, and better suspension, then it would be waaaaay better to drive on the road
It was a death trap that drove terrible on anything other than a perfectly groomed track. But once it got to the track, it made laughingstocks out of everything out there. I saw a 1997 GTS all stock riding on racing slicks driven by an experienced guy humiliate a bunch of new European supercars at New Jersey motorsports park. They are fast....
The viper is my number one car on my bucket list and thankfully I'm getting closer to a position where I will actually be able to purchase one soon. I can't wait.
"Fiat owns Ferrari Chrysler owned Lamborghini Fiat owns Chrysler so technically Fiat owned Ferrari and Lamborghini"...LOL Note even close. Chrysler owned Lamborghini from - 1987

In NFS Carbon, fully upgraded viper had the FASTEST ACCELERATION!!!!!. TAKING OUT LAMBO MURCILAGO, AUDI QUATTRO. I had it (NFS), and when at the starting line I put nos energy and it will rocket to 120 kmph in uper 2 sec !! That thing launches like a rocket when it is launched.
95 Dodge Viper RT/10 was the best car I've ever owned! As someone who has driven over a thousand performance cars my favorite by far is the Viper! It's just unadulterated and raw!
dark crusher1221 I think the world is beginning to move away from huge engines that drink huge amounts of fuel. As much as I want the Viper to return, I think the changing attitude towards fuel consumption (I guess) may stop that from happening. Especially since some countries are planning to ban the use of fossil fuels in the future. I can't see an 8 litre V-10 existing then.
person fishforce yes china, UK, France and California have all stated they are going to move to electric power cars. Maybe an electric viper is in our future? Or maybe im just being to optimistic.
person fishforce Wait! You just gave me an idea! What if they made spin of to the viper! The can get a giant electric motor, with a powerful as fuck battery! And add a semi-automatic. And they can call it the Thunder Viper! (Or Electric Viper) It will be the most powerful electric car on the market! Able to get 36000 rpms and have 1080 hp to the crank!
My uncle was one of the drivetrain engineers on the original Viper. He brought a prototype to our house after work one day. I was blown away. Everyone looked at us like we were driving a spaceship.
If you've ever driven one you would see how comfortable they really are. Driving 500 or 600 miles in a day is no problem, except for the fuel. Fell in love with the first one I ever drove and now I don't see myself ever not having one.
Missed the 1:33 editions and their significance, and the fact that the last generation of vipers had the largest production engine ever built, also boasting the most torque of any naturally aspirated production engine in the world. Other than that, I️ think you covered everything. Great videos.
Krzysztof Dolecki rumors and facts are two different things and yes it is true that the Viper is a dangerous car to drive if you don't know how to drive just like the high-power Mustangs. Just look on RUclips how many people have wrecked a Mustang because they had 500 horsepower at their foot and did not know how to drive properly
Krzysztof Dolecki but then he stated when the ACR came out that's when the Viper really shined 1/16 of 18 races remind you of other cars like the Ford GT40 that Smackdown those European Ferraris and Lamborghinis back in the 60s or 70s as for the new Ford GT I love The Styling but hate the fact that they put a V6 in it even though it's twin-turbocharged who puts a V6 in a hypercar
So, a close frined of mine who also just happened to be my boss at the time owned two different generations of the Viper. I could say, that, it certainly had plenty of trunk space, even though it burned gas, had a very big gas tank, and I thought the stereo in both Vipers were freakin ROCKIN. In other words, if I had the opportunity to daily drive a Viper, I WOULD IN LESS THAN A HEARTBEAT!!! Thank you for your incredibly awesome show.
MAYBE IN ORDER TO BRING BACK VIPER IN SHOWROOMS WE SHOULD STOP BUYING CARS IN DODGE SO THEIR PROFIT WILL GO DOWN AND THEY WILLL AGAIN TO BRING BACK THE VIPER😂 #MOST CRAZIEST IDEA I EVER THINK
fastest h-pattern manual trans road car in the 'Ring. fastest front engined RWD road car in the 'Ring. a sequential manual (like those offered by PPG for the Gen V) could easily put it below the 7:00 mark. the driver who set the record says that it has too much downforce and drag and could have set a faster lap if it actually had a bit less of it. and it was a private effort, set by a car that is actually a real registered production road car and not an engineering protoype.
I love how you slowly see his goofiness come out over time. It’s like we are slowly starting to see who he actually is over time. until now when it’s a caricature of himself 😂. But we all love him anyway bc he’s so damn entertaining. I want to start a petition to remake all the old Supra and skyline and early videos. Especially the JDM cars!!!😮

3:07 it's a myth. Viper's V10 is based on a 360 LA Magnum V8, and have nothing in common with their iron-block V10 besides their similar displacement. At one point Chrysler considered adapting V10 engine for the Viper, but scrapped that idea due to the required amount of work and questionable outcome. 360 Magnum is the powerplant that can be found in Lil' Red Express truck and goes back as far as 1971 and, while heavily modifed and revised, remained in production line as 5.9 magnum until 2003.
"The Viper V10 is based on the Chrysler LA engine family, and appeared with the Dodge Viper in 1992. It was conceived and prototyped as a Magnum 5.9 with two extra cylinders and a longer stroke of 3.88 in (99 mm). Lamborghini engineers revamped Dodge's cast-iron block V10 for the Viper[citation needed] by recasting the block and heads in aluminum alloy. Prototype blocks were cast by Lamborghini, at the time a Chrysler division. The first-generation Viper V10 engine had a displacement of 8.0 L (488 cu in) and produced 400 hp (300 kW) and 465 lb·ft (630 N·m)."

Yeah it was red with no roof when just driving around but then when it went into "crime fighter mode" (i want to say it was called "interceptor" mode?) it "grew" a roof and turned silver. Actually did it grow a roof or did the roof fly in from nowhere and attach itself? Either ways yeah, it was more Knight Rider than either Team Knight Rider or the Knight Rider reboot.
I was obsessed with that show, it's half of why I fell in love with the Viper and eventually got one. It did transform, the roof did kinda grow into place, yes, and the flying part was probably the probe/drone that was launched from the rear (like I said, obsessed)

That's badass.
That's pretty awesome
It was so cool, the last viper ever Produced was sold to a woman named D’ann Rauh, she owns over 80 vipers and lives in Texas. The coolest part about going to work with my dad (he now works at Warren Truck) was seeing how precise the production was. They only made 3 a day because over 90% of production was by hand. To call it a factory doesn’t tell the whole story, the floors were perfectly polished everyday and there were showcars all over the place. More of a museum really, such a cool place.
Definitely I wish I had made it to the factory

According the absolute sheer dominance of the ALMS (or now IMSA) the C6.R Corvette was the best car ever built. If you go all the way back to 97 Corvette has won every single season in their class except 2017 when Aston beat them in the last race due to a flat tire. And they single handedly shut down the GT1 class. Aston, Porsche, and Jag all went to GT2 and Dodge quit

joeforit - 1776 inches spoiler!? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!
Just for youtube
It has slowly trended in that direction but that is an example of both systems in use on the same car

joecugo the car still exists so is
@joecugo The sales numbers can only prove how many were sold, nothing else.

You just suck at driving

With all these electric and hybrid cars we need the viper to return soon!
dark crusher1221 I think the world is beginning to move away from huge engines that drink huge amounts of fuel.
Or maybe im just being to optimistic.
dark crusher1221 An electric Viper just sounds, odd. Maybe a smaller powerplant? Like a V8? Or even a V6??
Lets hope that the viper returns as an affordable electric minivan.

What if they made spin of to the viper!
The can get a giant electric motor, with a powerful as fuck battery! And add a semi-automatic.
And they can call it the Thunder Viper! (Or Electric Viper)

My uncle was one of the drivetrain engineers on the original Viper. He brought a prototype to our house after work one day. I was blown away. Everyone looked at us like we were driving a spaceship.
Also cool to note that the Viper died with the most track records of any production car in the world✌
There is a reason why people don't drive actual race cars around as daily drivers. They are incredibly uncomfortable.
I've got an RT/10, and it's quite comfortable
If you've ever driven one you would see how comfortable they really are. Driving 500 or 600 miles in a day is no problem, except for the fuel. Fell in love with the first one I ever drove and now I don't see myself ever not having one.

but Germans owned Chrysler when viper was born - so it's appropriate :)
Tomasz Kusmierz Not exactly, the Dailmer Chrysler merger happened late in the 90s. The viper came out before the merger.
I remember seeing the viper on a billboard when I was little and absolutely loved it.
Then I went back to staring at an 8th gen Impala in awe.
Missed the 1:33 editions and their significance, and the fact that the last generation of vipers had the largest production engine ever built, also boasting the most torque of any naturally aspirated production engine in the world. Other than that, I️ think you covered everything. Great videos.

Best fucking series on RUclips.
You could cover rumors that they ended Viper because of safety regulations
Krzysztof Dolecki rumors and facts are two different things and yes it is true that the Viper is a dangerous car to drive if you don't know how to drive just like the high-power Mustangs. Just look on RUclips how many people have wrecked a Mustang because they had 500 horsepower at their foot and did not know how to drive properly
Even Rob pobst I believe his name is spelled said it had a tremendous amount of Oversteer
The safety concern is more about the fact that they couldn't fit the proper airbags into the car. (Nitro)
Dom Inic Airbags that have been proven only 51% effective and Can mutilate one.

7:01 Nurburgring time. One of the most powerful naturally aspirated engines ever. Damn what a car.
Liam McKeon and manual only
fastest h-pattern manual trans road car in the 'Ring.
fastest front engined RWD road car in the 'Ring.
a sequential manual (like those offered by PPG for the Gen V) could easily put it below the 7:00 mark. the driver who set the record says that it has too much downforce and drag and could have set a faster lap if it actually had a bit less of it.
and it was a private effort, set by a car that is actually a real registered production road car and not an engineering protoype.

I saw an interview with a member of Team Viper, and they said it is a myth
Let's all go buy one and look 😁
I already did, lol
Actually the V10 in the RAM is a LA/MAGNUM with 2 extra cylinders, the Viper V10 is not related to either engine

@@rubytuesday5684 Well, we are talking about the "VIPER", the production car with more records, more records than Bugatti Veyron, maybe you can't drive with the Viper 180 milles in an hour, but you can do a lap in Nurburgring in less than 7 minutes without paying 2 million dollars for an overrated Ferrari.
Do you know that the "VIPER” kept the record of Nurburgring for more than three years without interruptions?
Nurburgring is the home of car brands like Volkswagen, Opel, Audi, BMW, RUF, Mercedes( the winner of the last 7 seasons of formula 1), Porsche ( that alredy has the record with the 919 hybrid evo) you know, Porsche and Mercedes test everyday new prototipes on the track, the last "VIPER" went to Germany without the suppport of the factory, only a few group of fans collected the enough money to buy two Vipers ACR, without proper tires, without a proper pilot, and without enough time, the Viper got a time of 7:01 surpassing the time of cars like the Mercedes AMG GTR PRO.

It was red, silver and could change from color to color. Bulletproof and the show was called “Viper”. And in one episode, it went off the pier into the water, didn’t let the driver out, then went into “hovercraft mode”
