Both Houston and Baltimore had several losing seasons and as a result chose highest in the draft. Give them credit for selecting very well in the draft.
Hi Boomer - great to see you! You helped me collect dorm dues from some of the Football players in Harford Hall back in 1983 - I always appreciated that! Do you remember our card game “Killer?” That was me at your door. Congratulations on all of your success, from your lifelong fan 🙏
O's are built by Mike Elias, the GM who also helped build the Astros Dynasty as their assistant GM, you know the team that Boone's Yanks could never beat in the post season? Elias and his assistant GM Sig Mejdal who also came from Houston with Elias are two of the smartest people in MLB. Now they're backed by David Rubenstein, the new RICH majority owner of O's. If you think O's are going away any time soon, you're sadly mistaken.
"The Yankees are loaded, they got great players, All-Stars all over the place...but this pesky little Orioles team." Bro - the only thing little going on in Bmore these days is the payroll...for now. Last I checked, 101 wins last season plus what we've done to date this year, we've got the best record in all of baseball, for an extended period of time, with kids just...getting...started. More on the way. And a new owner ready to spend. If you think one signing, even of Soto's caliber, is gonna get you over the hump this year, or another big splash next year...please, keep doing it. Yankees lineup unbalanced. If you can limit the 1-2 punch of Soto/Judge from doing heavy damage, the rest of that order can't hold a candle to Baltimore's. Every inning the O's come up to hit, there are dudes who can hit. I'm sorry but, yeah, your team is built to take care of the lesser teams out there. And you can beat a team like us here and there, cause hey, its baseball. But in a series situation, which is what the postseason is, the Os have proven in these past 3 straight series, vs the Braves, Phillies and Yanks, that we are built to win SERIES. Consistency. In fact, in case it wasnt known to anyone reading this, the O's set a record since the start of division play in 1969. We just won our 22nd consecutive series against a division opponent. A streak no other team has ever reached. Add that to the over-two-seasons-long streak of not gettng swept...this is beyond a sample size. The O's are the best team in baseball. Yeah, we got swept by the Rangers last postseason, and that has more weight than any of the bragging rights I'm flexing with, I acknowledge that. But that has been the team's focus ever since. We were not ready then. We have treated every significant series so far this season like it's a postseason, and so far, the results speak for themselves. We are ready now. Just some observations.
LOL O's just had their bottom 3 starters pitching in the series and won 2 out 3 after already winning 3 out 4 against Yanks earlier in the season. You think the playoffs will be any different. As they say in sports, you gotta lose before you can win. O's will keep hitting line-drives over Soto's head. They just keep getting better every game. In their last 9 games, they're 6-3 against Braves, Phillies and Yanks, winning all 3 series. Keep in mind that the GM of O's, Mike Elias, is one of the architects who built the Astros Dynasty, you know the team Yanks could never beat in the post season? He'll do the same with O's backed by the RICH new owner. AL East will belong to O's for the next 5-6 years at least. O's are loaded with young talent in their farm system, they can outbid Yanks for whatever they need.
But the Yankees had such an amazing bullpen a month ago.. What happened? Could it be that the bullpen wasn't good enough to being with? I was saying it all offseason. They traded for Soto and didn't fix their biggest problem.. Relief pitching.
Orioles and Astros spent YEARS rebuilding, losing tons of games .New Yorkers don’t have the patience, want everything in a New York minute, fans are too spoiled
As a Yankees fan here is what has frustrated me about Juan Soto in June. The batting average looks great, the on-base percentage looks great, he’s walking a lot, but he’s not doing damage. He has three home runs and seven RBIs in the entire month. We need more from him.
I think Yankees need a deeper lineup that can continue to score.bottom of the lineup is inconsistent..you see the Orioles team is deep and can score through out there lineup
Most of these draft picks are crapshoots. Seriously look at some of the drafts and who was taken ahead of all-time great players. It’s just a crapshoot.
@dbreiden83080 the "they tanked" argument is so lazy.. they revamped the entire org. They didn't have an international scouting department when Elias was hired. Along with that, the farm system was bottom 5 in MLB. Now they just opened up a complex in the Dominican and have the #1 farm.. they signed Samuel Basallo (their #2 prospect) using international funds that didnt exist before Elias. In 2018 the Orioles actually tried to win, didn't work, sold off Machado, Schoop, etc at the deadline.. got the #1 pick and got Adley.
Scouting, Drafting, ans Development. The Os are good at it…not all of their players are early 1st round picks. For example, Ryan O’Hearn was on the trash heap of KC and now look at him and his performance of last year. Development in the Os organization is superior.
Bro the only difference between these teams that sucks and teams like the Yankees is they give more chances to their prospects and remember being drafted #1 or 500 doesn’t mean isht if you don’t get the push through the farm by your team
His take makes no sense whatsoever. Let’s say the Yankees lose in the ALCS. Well, they are no closer to making the World Series next year by losing Juan Soto so what boomer is saying is completely idiotic.
The Yankees should learn from history. Two or three great players don’t make a championship team. Look at San Diego, and the Angels, both teams had two or more superstars and couldn’t smell a championship. The secret to building a championship team is have a few great players surrounded by a good supporting cast. Thats what lacking in Yankee Land.
They don't have a good supporting cast? The pitching staff has been the best in baseball.. They are a top 3 offense. Defense has been solid. Judge and Soto are MVP players.. We brought guys up like Volpe that have panned out.. Verdugo has been a huge upgrade. Gil has been amazing despite yesterday being so poor. Hell even Stanton is hitting again.. What more do you want? No team has consistent production everywhere..
@@dbreiden83080one series and people lose their shit. It’s the regular season, judge played half the series, Cole just returned and the star rookie pitcher had an implode game he’ll learn from. I’m the least bit concerned lol
