My son has wanted to be a police officer since he was 4. When I asked him why he said, " Because he wanted to help people. Last year he told me that he no longer wanted to be one. When I asked him why, he replied," Cause everyone hates them now.

I am a veteran and love my country. I also served 27 years in law Enforcement. I simply cannot understand what has happened to our country. It breaks my heart.

Simple - It's called 'Loss of Common Sense' Far too much 'Freedom' & all about money. People need to stay within the law and stop being mindless thugs. Far too much mental health issues on the streets - solution:- Treat everyone the same, If a cop askes someone acting weird to stop and they look to assault, shoot that person in the leg (taser or bullet), then cuff them. Round mobs up and detain for offences against public order (peaceful protests are fine - but no violence, standing in someones way, assaults, stealing or destroying property, loudspeaker screaming, etc - if they are instructed to disperse when acting violently and do not - then Taser the entire mob & cuff them ALL- soon stop then).
What’s happened is the radical alt left liberal Democrats are now too corrupt, criminal and powerful to stop. Now they control all 3 branches of government and are systematically destroying the US.
After 33 years I tapped out last week. Was hoping to stay two more years but it’s just not worth it. It’s like a huge weight off my shoulders.

I grabbed a greyhound bus and moved to a small city that I had never been to before. Left my important stuff in storage and gave away or sold my furniture. Never looked back and don't miss anything.
@arse stain you dont have to be rich, you have to be willing to start over. im in the same process and its not easy but where i am is not getting better. i just saw someone shot a few days ago. which gave me a reminder that im doing the right thing. i have everything boxed ready for storage. i will be losing all of my savings by doing this. but i know if i ever have kids or a wife or gf i could never feel safe with them here. i need to do this not only for me, but just in case i have a family someday. im going to take a huge loss downgrading to a small house and selling my home for way under price. but ill get my sanity back and sleep. and if i was in a apartment it would be easier, i would have less stuff and be able to move easier to another apartment in another state or town. with all the stimulus and extra unemplyment given out and the amount of places hiring because people dont want to work its possible

It's something I wish we would see all mayors do at some point. I'm sure he knew he was putting his life on the line by doing it, but even if advocates trying to call attention to systemic racism also push back against you and other leaders, the right thing to do is to still acknowledge systemic racism and fight for the cause of equality. He hasn't handled the situation perfectly, but it's also clear that brute hamfisted force only pushes people underground and buries serious tension and bottles it, only to allow it to escape into a much more pernicious form later. As an example, allowing CHAZ to take place in Seattle resulted in two deaths over 2+ weeks, which while tragic, was a far cry from the results of many of the other protests around the nation. Sometimes more pragmatic approaches work.
