It's people like you who I really come to admire and appreciate, you didn't have to teach us but you did and for that i am thankful.

Great tutorial! instructions were super easy to follow.
I was wondering, however, if it's possible to somehow draw those polygons on a mask which is then applied to the image, rather than editing the image directly? I ask this because I'd like to be able to make changes to the original image after the fact so as to affect the final outcome.
    Thanks!

Amazing tutorial! Helps me a lot. I still have one question: if the quality of the pic is not that high, the low poly will be very blurry and have low quality too. Is there a solution for?

Thanks, I think you should be fairly ok with a low res image.

You can increase the quality of your final image by starting with a new document with the output settings you want (like an 8.5”x11” at 300 dpi). Import the reference image and Transform it so it fits on the page how you want. (Then make a duplicate of your source image just in case you goof up). Proceed to make your triangles and Average-Color them as mentioned in the tutorial. You’ll probably need to fudge the edges, since there will be a lot of blurry transition space (like between the nose and cheek or etc), but focus on making the shape first, and then you can fine-tune the colors. (Ie. Use the lasso tool to select the triangle outline, but before you average the color, use the Eyedropper to pick a color that works for that area. Average the color, then select it again (using the wand tool set to 1-pixel tolerance), and bucket-fill with your selected color. I find this gives you better color anyway, since selecting too large of an area makes for muddy colors.) It takes longer, so I probably would recommend it for huge or super intricate pieces, but you’ll have a much cleaner final image in both size and color. (You can also use a pre-defined color palette to pick from, which makes for nice consistent colors too.)

Oops, made a typo. Meant to say I would not recommend manually-coloring the shapes if you don’t want to spend a lot of time on it. (If you don’t mind, go for it lol :). These can be really really beautiful.)

Does it count as any kind of plagiarism or copyright infringement to do this on photos you find online?

Depends on where you get the image, just check the usage rights. Thanks

Hi, photoshop can be confusing I know. If it goes wrong, you must start again and go through the process very slowly. Keep doing that until you get it. Patients will work 👍
