    A very long time since I made the artwork for that. A lot of it I'd completely forgotten about.

      And excellent artwork it is too! Good to hear from someone who worked on these classic games back in the day!

      @Richy J The Summer Guy Sorry Richy but actually I am the Ivan Horn that did all artwork on the Robocop 2 Amstrad GX4000 and Spectrum versions, plus some ST/Amiga art too. I've been in games dev since 1985 and still am today. I had an interview about that specific game for Retro Gamer a few months. If you want to get into it, I've got a bunch of photos taken at around that time with other Ocean games devs, including James Higgins, Andy Sleigh, Robert Hemphill and Mark Jones (Junior). Tucked in a drawer somewhere I've got a dev cartridge of the Gameboy version of Parasol Stars too.

      It still looks sharp as a tack, Ivan, this was one of my faves back in the day.

      @@danmcdaid Thanks Dan... for me though I look at this old stuff and think "Oh no did I do that" :) Nothing wrong with the art as such, it's just so old.

      All the sprites and backgrounds in this look pretty good. The static screens are excellent given the limited colour palette. You briefly think it is an Amstrad game.

    The quality of speccy games towards the end of the 80's are very good!

    These spectrum RoboCop games really blow me away with how smoothly they scroll detailed backgrounds. The Amstrad versions too work too well. Well programmed definitely. And the sprite detail!

    Well done. Great game. I still manage to finish it too after all these years. Great memories.

    A very polished game, although a lot more difficult and slower than the original. I can't say I liked it quite as much but it was a very good game.
    It could be frustrating at times as some of the jumps needed to be pixel perfect and it could be a little cruel to end up way back at the beginning of a section due to a tiny misjudgement.
    That said though, the Spectrum version is much better than many others as the Spectrum version is far more complex than most of the others as Ocean intentionally made different versions for sets of computers to suit the intended target market. I think they felt that the Spectrum owners were more likely to want a game with more puzzle elements while the C64 version had far more action and less puzzles.

    Great seeing the Speccy version, looks very professionally made by Ocean :)

      Yeah, just a shame that like the mvoie sequel it was licensed to, it sucked compared to the first one.

      +retrogamer33 you make it sound as if speccy games were normally a bit rubbish. Quite the opposite.

    I found this game way too hard. Could never get past the first level. There was a cheat mode that was often repeated in The Spectrum magazines like Crash and SU that said if you pressed the keys GTX at once you could skip levels but it didn't work for me.

    The art and music are really good but I always found it a boring game to play. Certainly less fun than the more run-n-gun prequel.

      @SpeccyHorace 4 года назад +2

      The first game is not a prequel.
