Such a good movie. Haven't seen it since I was a kid. Should watch it again soon. Steve Carell is simply the best.

I can't believe I haven't watched this brilliant mesmerizing movie until last night, right now I'm at my lowest of the lows, ironically enough reading nietzsche and dostoevsky literature, attempting that I might be able to figure a better vocabulary perhaps to express what's boiling and choking me inside. This movie is quite really precious. And so is your absolutely splendid compilation, the relationship these two shared, has a potential of their on featurette film haha. Hope you are having a great 2022, if not, who cares gonna romanticised suffering into character development lezz goooo

Hello, I don't know if this is of anything interest to you or if you've already read it but there's a quote by Dostoevsky that I come back to often when life feels unbearable and maybe it might help you too :)
"And I seem to have such strength in me now, that I think I could stand anything, any suffering, only to be able to say and to repeat to myself every moment, " I exist". In thousands of agonies - I exist. I'm tormented on the rack - but I exist! Though I sit alone on a pillar - I exist!! I see the sun, and if I don't see the sun, I know it's there. And there's a whole life in that, in knowing that the sun is there."

@@Rachel-bb7di hello rachel, i dont think any words would be enough to tame the grandiose grateful feeling i have felt after reading this. This Dostoevsky quote is the second time i'm reading, first was six months back when on an ordinary thursday, in my room i was graduated from college, and even though i am studying some different course right now, the disenchantment i am feeling is always finding a way to creep in.
This quote added some ray of hope, to crawl out of the well of nihilism and let the radiant glimmers of exuberance fall on my flesh.
I am grateful, that you took time to write it and making me heard in the labyrinths of this void haha.
Manifesting at whatever phase of life you are right now, you find a meaning in it and have the curiosity for experiencing the mundane poetry of innocent orderinary gestures universe and nature has to provide :D

The part where he tells him about Proust and his suffering is the best dialogue and scene in the movie, but it’s not in the clip.

I watched the film when I was far too young to understand what any of it meant and had always thought of it as a weird movie, rewatching some of the scenes is mind-blowing...also realizing that's Steve carell as the gay uncle 🤣

I liked this film but also didn't.
Teaching people to go for things they aren't any good at but really wanna do... yea I guess it's a nice message, but still, being a pilot with vision impairment could be dangerous... sometimes ya gotta accept the reality.
When I was 17 I really really really wanted to be the next Kurt Cobain... but I sucked at guitar, couldn't sing and couldn't even begin to write songs... it was sad, it was crushing... but I got over it and found what I am good at.

It wasn't about getting to do it regardless of being unable to, dwaynes arc was all about grieving with the death of a dream and accepting it, finding joy and happiness elsewhere. He found happiness in the silent comfort of just having his family and his sister being there. The movies point is that you cannot always win, and if do you, that's great, but most people just can't win, and you have to move on.

you could have learn how to play guitar, to use distortion on your voice, music theory, rhythm, drugs and all. Maybe you didn't want it that bad :]
