      Ed, just about. And its not even a door - its just the outer skin. Imagine Ford or GM employing old guys to hand panel beat out the defects, as this mob does, when making 300,000 units per year - a typical run that's about 1200 per 8 hour day. Even the floor area required for the panel beaters would cost too much in real estate. It makes you strongly suspect that paying a contract production engineer to re-jig their process would dramatically improve productivity and quality, giving a positive cash flow within a few weeks, even at their very low volume.
      Someone should replace that squealing worn out drive belt.

      These are traditional societies where men and their knowledge still have their place. If people don't have jobs anymore because of robotization, who will buy the productions of the robotized units?

    • @keithammleter3824
      @keithammleter3824 2 года назад +1

      @@bebertdattagre9280 : That old nonsense argument has been regurgitated ever since the industrial revolution began in England 200 years ago. It's never turned out right.
      As for robots - robots have been used in car body production in western countries for over 40 years. What has been the result? As a fraction of yearly salaries, you get a lot more car, a far better car, for much less of your salary. Here in Australia, in 1965 average wage was about $2500 and a car cost $2000. Today average wage is about $120,000 and cars cost ~ $40,000. So we have a lot more money left over to buy a whole house full of consumer goods - stereos, breadmakers, microwave ovens, high definition TV's, etc - so while a lot less folk work in car factories now, vastly more people work making products nobody had heard of before robots.
      In another Pakistani video, they show the production of hand-made cement mixers. They posted the price - it happens to be approximately the same as an equivalent capacity cement mixer retail price here in Australia, even though wages here are huge compared to in Pakistan. That's why Australia is rich compared to Pakistan - automated production.
      Factory automation lowers prices - better affordability - money goes further - everyone benefits and employment remains.
      Back in teh 1970's people were predicting the coming availability of cheap computers and numerical controlled machines would either lead to drastically reduced work hours or widespread employment. Neither happened.

    • @bebertdattagre9280
      @bebertdattagre9280 2 года назад +1

      @@keithammleter3824 I live in France and the average salary is $40,000. The average salary in Australia is $60,000, not double. You are not too well informed about the economy. France used to produce cars and the relocation to low-wage countries combined with robotization have literally destroyed the mechanical engineering job sector. There are millions of unemployed people and half of the population is on the poverty line. You're talking nonsense from the bosses and when a machine does the work for an employee, the employee is left out in the cold and that's the reality of things. So I maintain that robotization kills jobs and that despite the social benefits sprinkled on the lower class, they will not be able to buy a new car.
      je vis en France et le salaire moyen est de 40000$. Le salaire moyen en Australie est de 60000$ et non le double. Tu n'es pas trop bien renseigné sur l'économie. La France produisait des voitures et la délocalisation vers les pays à bas coût salarial conjuguée à la robotisation ont littéralement détruit le secteur d'emploi de la mécanique. Les chômeurs se comptent par millions et la moitié de la population se trouve au seuil de pauvreté. Tu racontes des fadaises distillées par le patronat et quand une machine fait le travail à la place d'un employé, celui ci se retrouve sur la paille et ça c'est la réalité des choses. Je maintiens donc que la robotisation tue l'emploi et que malgré les aides sociales saupoudrées sur le bas peuple, celui ci ne pourra pas s'acheter de voiture neuve.

    • @keithammleter3824
      @keithammleter3824 2 года назад

      @@bebertdattagre9280 : Where did you get your figures from? I suspect you did not read your source properly. The average salary (2021 data) for Australian males is $120,943/year; for females it is $102,965. The average personal income is about $60,000 - this includes people on unemployment benefit (which is only ~$16,000/year - below the poverty line, and about what I spend on food), disability pensions, and default age pensions ($23,155/year). We have considerable numbers on the default age pension.
      I retired 15 years ago as a full time senior professional engineer due to age. My salary at that time was $150,000/year. I only work part time now as a consultant, and still, due to inflation, earn about $150,000/year. Many trades people earn quite a bit more as there is a shortage of trades people.
      I don't know much about France, but in Australia (population about 25 million), unemployment usually runs at, and still is, about 4 to 5%. There is however a significant underemployment problem - that is quite a few people are not working in jobs that their qualifications should lead to. Never the less, average salary here is still around $120,000/year as I said.
      We also lost our car manufacturing, due a combination of Chinese and Korean competition and government meddling, but it made hardly a blip on unemployment statistics - jobs in other industries were created.
      Note that I was quoting in Australian dollars. The US dollar is worth quite a bit more.
      You have confused two very different factors: a) automation/use of robots, and b) transfer of manufacturing to cheaper countries.
      Automation improves productivity and creates wealth and thus jobs.
      But transfer of manufacturing to lower cost countries is having a serious impact on western counties. This is in almost all cases not due to these cheaper countries using automation or robots, as western counties have been using automation & robots in major industries for decades. It is due to several other factors, e.g.:-
      # The USA have priced themselves out of business by over-the-top regulations about safety and pollution;
      # The low cost countries generally don't worry about safety;
      # We for example work an 8-hour day in Australia. In China they work a 12 hour day.
      # The low cost countries find ways to support industry, such as low tax special regions;
      # Countries such as the US, Australia, UK, sometimes inject subsidies when they detect a problem, then the them away again. The low cost countries generally decide on a policy and STICK to it.

    Most all of your videos and the people in them know their stuff, but that skin was *covered* in overspray. If I were ever to do that to any skin, or anything at all that I was painting ... I'd be there stripping it down and redoing it on my own time. That was terrible. One of the few things I've seen in your videos that was bad craftsmanship, but one of the most noticeable. Not to mention how thin that paint was, was almost spraying it with tinted paint thinner.
    Keep the videos coming though mate, most enjoyable to watch these craftsman work. 👍😎

      @@alxace I agree, but the problem with overspray is how much work it adds to paint prep. Honestly, he had all the right gear to put a decent coat of paint, may as well do so. Sanding overspray is such a time consuming job, considering you just want to get the bumps off and not remove anything else, so the surface is flat. Anyhow, point taken. Have a nice day.

      It is easy to judge when living a comfortable life in a "1st" world country... in these kinds of countries the "government" subsidizes schools arn't worth s**t and the "good" private schools cost alot of money. And asking your parrents to pay for your studies while they have barely anything to eat is ridiculous. So the only chance they have to make something of themselves is getting an apprenticeship like these kids have done. Believe me when I say that these kids have fought and worked hard to get in, not unlike you working to get into your favourd school/uni.

    Pretty rough, anyone spot thee big crease in the panel top left side after painting? Speaking of paint high gloss enamel on bare steel ! Ever heard of primer?

    • @johnfisher747
      @johnfisher747 2 года назад

      I worked in the trade, often the new skins we ordered would arrive full of dents and creases which we’d have to repair so no big deal. And they’d always come in black primer, maybe not gloss but who’s to say.

    • @sevenscounty409
      @sevenscounty409 2 года назад

      They came with enamel anti rust coating paint, then you can apply your primer etc.
      As for creases, thats the job of body fillers.

      @@ericbivins8014 We are used to working at floor level. It also allows use to use our feet , example holding the ruler in place while you draw a line.
      Traditional Japanese wood workers too work on the floor not on benches.
      They use their feet to hold wood while sawing and other processes.
      If you're are accustomed to it is no problem.
