I have an Onan CKKB 6 KW genset that I am in the process of mounting on a trailer so I can move it around. These things are HEAVY. However, like several other posters here I would like to know how you wired the electronic ignition and what you used...I want to get rid of the points box in mine as well.....any hints you can give us would be appreciated
You will probably need a boat fuel tank, fuel line, and figure out how to wire up electrical outlets so you can use the power. In addition these are VERY HEAVY. Mine weighs over 300 pounds, so I am having to make a cart to roll it around on. It has no handles so lifting it without damaging the plastic intake or cooling fan duct requires some care and a lot of muscle. It is going to end up being more expensive and MUCH LESS convenient than buying a comparable generac brand new from the home depot. Would I buy a new chinese generator from the home depot.... HELL NO>
Wow i cant believe how quiet it is. Ive been putting off getting one of these, but after hearing the difference between 1800 rpm and 3600 rpm generators, I think it's time to ditch my 3600 rpm generator for one of these low speed onan generators
Really nice job! I'm novice but working on an Onan 5.0 cck . Any chance you can explain or give reference to the on and off wiring. You made yours look so clean and simple. I look at mine and see spaghetti. You do super clean work keep it up.
I am new to these Onan generators but have rebuilt motors before. How much do you have into this restore? Also could you tell me where you got the manuals? I have a line on a 6.5NH for $250, Owner says it ran a few years ago. Is it possible to end up putting lots of $$ into one of these? Thanks, nice video and nice workmanship on the Onan.
Found your link on another video, very thankful :) I'm wondering where did you purchase your electric fuel pump? I tried to read the label but I cannot. I need a new one. I have read on other posts that using propane for a long period of time/majority of use, that the propane will pit the inside of the engine, have you heard this?
that fuel pump (or one that looks just like it) is available from napa, but there are a lot that would work and are available cheap on amazon or at autozone.
So quiet. Nice!

Thanks for sharing

Very good brand but you need an external fuel tank.
Again be prepared to work on the carburetor system
was this ready made for natural gas or is that a conversion?
I like the conversation from the board, would you share the detailed instruction on how to do that.

if available , is there a thread on that really professionally done control box modification. i looked on smokestak, but could find it.
You need to post a video showing us how you eliminated the points box!!
I just picked up a 6.5 NH, I would like to know where you got the parts for the electronic ignition. Also, where is a good supply for parts. Thanks
nice machine.
I have this same generator. How do I upgrade to electronic ignition?
Amazing work! What type of muffler is that??
very cool. I have a 86 onan 5.0 I would love to upgrade to electronic ignition. Could you explain how you did it?
Pardon me for my ignorance. What is trifuel? Excellent video, amazingly quiet engine.
