DIY Walnut Bath Caddy

- This week I show you how I built my fiance a bath caddy out of a single piece of walnut for Valentine's Day. I really like the look of this project and the way it flows down into the bathtub. It's a relatively simple build with the right tools.

Nice project, Aaron! You've probably noticed already that the handle can also serve as a holder for a small towel for wiping the hands before plunging into a good book.
One suggestion I'd make to the shaping process would be to put a stop on the table saw and use a dado blade to take away that 3/4" from the edges. It would get tricky to get it done on the middle section, and would still require further finishing, but wouldn't compromise the width of the piece.

Looks amazing! I am going to be building a similar caddy for a friend, but I was worried about what finish to use because it will be so close to humidity etc. Have you found that tung oil was a good choice? Thanks!!

Will tung oil be sufficient as finish? Or is it to be reapplied?
Yes. I would do several initial coats and May have to re-apply in a year or so depending on use.
