Prenerf chorus literally removed like 70% of the skill ceiling that a good hivelords hubris player would need to win. Devs really needed people to play that boss.
A faster swinging hivelords (with a far stronger crit) with the highest posture in the game with chip stronger than obfuscation. The devs had to of snorted a few lines before making this weapon
honestly my theory is they did that to encourage people to fight the boss. Stat wise it was clearly unbalanced while right now I would say its fair if not weak since the crit is kinda mid without the hyperarmor and the guaranteed followup

both were cooked, now that the crit doesn't have hyperarmor off rip and now that it is possible to block the weapon, its pretty tolerable to fight
