“Rocking Heels: Live at Metal Church” is the document of a very special concert in the idyllic setting of Wacken Church. Released on August 11th, 2023 on earMUSIC, it is the first release of the live series “Rocking Heels”. It is available as a Ltd. 2LP Vinyl Edition, CD mini LP replica and on Digital.
In front of just 300 handpicked fans, this onetime-only event opened the Wacken Open Air Festival in 2016. Tarja presents unique arrangements of rock and heavy metal classics by her favourite artists including “Numb” by Linkin Park, In Flames “Alias”, Metallica’s “The Unforgiven”, songs by Joe Satriani and Slipknot as well as a Nightwish song and Tarja originals.

This album is a masterpiece. Somebody can explain what she did with all these songs out of nothing?. Just her friend Max, two excellent musicians and her voice. How much talent you need to pull out this, in this quality? Amazing Tarja, amazing.

So perfect! 😍 I love Ave Marias (especially when sung in Latin like this, it gives an extra special magic) and this one in particular, composed by Tarja herself, always touches the depths of my being inexorably bringing tears to my eyes, it feels so magical and ethereal and heavenly and yet so deep and emotional, my very soul feels uplifted and pure elation with her angelic beautiful voice! This is absolute perfection.
Tarja has a natural heavy and dark timbre, which is her trademark, which is what I fell in love with, but I can only imagine how hard it is to “bend” such voice to her musical adventures.
However, the way she perfected her delivery throughout the years, in order to sound this crystalline, this pure, with milimetric precision is remarkable.
My favourite album of her career, bounces between TSS to ITR, vocal wise? Ave Maria En Plein Air without a doubt.
And it was recorded live!
Tarja lives and breathes chamber/religious music.
Tarja you owe us another classical album, we need this voice immortalized, yet again, in its purest form.
Congratulations to these musicians that are just as good as her, Max, please never stop composing and arranging music with Tarja, you are a rare jewel.
