This song is so dope. Shadow killed it. I remember my boy and I got faded at work one day, and we came back to the office, and it was on ebay, so he jumped on it, and had to have it. He ended up buying the record for $156. The next week, a copy sold for $20. Boy was he dumb.
Oh my God I never felt this way before, I just can't explain the feeling while listening this song...it's just epic. Tomorrow never comes until it's too late..fucking awesome.
This is not true, they are all still alive. Not famous as they deserve, but still active. Brian Farrell (the main head in the band) have a personal RUclips acount in wich you can see some home videos and amateur footage from recent shows.
actually i thought both dj shadows remix and the original version were about nuclear war especially when one line croons "feel the shaking of the ground, a million candles burn around, is it your birthday?" I have a feeling that whoever wrote those lyrics would have made a great novelist and satirist.
To each their own, but the Shadow/ Mos Def remix is one of the best merging of two different genres of music all time. Mos Def is an intelligent artist, as is DJ Shadow, and the message of the original song still comes through loud and clear...enough to even make me look up who sang it originally...and now I'm also blown away by the original as well. Get past the fact that it's hip-hop and actually listen to Mos' lyrics...hopefully you'll see it's just a different kind of amazing.
Men made everything lol & nuclear bombs are the only reason there hasn't been a 3rd world war yet & they are really the only way to achieve world peace due to them being such a dangerous deterrent.
A friend played this last night at a party, it really got me, it's been in my head all day. He told me a story about this band and their group suicide, apparently they all agreed to shoot themselves in a car, and went through with it. I cant find anything on the internet about it though, anyone else heard that?
Recently just discovered we had the wrong band haha, was still a good story though, fit well with the music at the time was sort of creepy and intense. Thanks!
i would rather say it's a song about a war which will last only 6 days till the whole world is dead. on sunday everthing and everyone would be vanished. a short time which we ignore an think tomorrow will everything better. imho
DJ Shadow didn't remix this song he just sampled it, and that's how I found this song so even if you don't like what DJ Shadow did with it, at least he brought more attention to it
I never found out, some cult band that were around the same time as Colonel Bagshot, there is nothing on the internet about it so kind of difficult to know if it was just an interesting story told at a party, or fact.
you know what i hate? people down-rating each other simply for having different tastes, DJ shadow did a great job with his remix, and the director of the short that goes with it does a great job re-imagining a song about war to a broken relationship. Both songs are amazing, so lets not be petty here.
this song is the original definition of EPIC
I wish I had found this earlier

I like the original better than the DJ shadow remix -it's haunting in its simplicity.
It's amazing how descriptive this song is with just a few lines of verse.

Ain't it funny how men think, they made the bomb, they are extinct.
Favorite part it's so true 👌😭
Not really. We made the bomb, but we are not extinct.
Not yet...
Men made everything lol & nuclear bombs are the only reason there hasn't been a 3rd world war yet & they are really the only way to achieve world peace due to them being such a dangerous deterrent.
Still not extinct!

Is this song from the Israeli point of view?
I also think this song is underrated and should get more attention.

Nothing against this, but I'm curious what is the reason to receive mainly comments in Turkish? :D
And I don't know about the movie.
Yes, but besides the movie, there's also a turkish singer who has a cover from the song, which is pretty good, her name is Deniz Tekin.
Not Dezin, Deniz Tekin
@tortaloni esa es la única respuesta correcta
Used to be a $5 to 10$ 20 tops record at the record shows ten years ago. DJ Shadow samples it, now it's 50 lol
