Nice review ! I'm really hesitating between medium and large size ,I know medium size would be not enough to put in all my clothes but it would be a very practical bag ... What do you suggest ? And what about pockets inside the bag ? 😉
leclanché lacoste medium is perfect size for flying as it's carryon size. Organization is easy using organiser cubes such as Eagle Creek brand and toiletries in a Dopp kit

I have a medium and I pack enough clothes for a 30 day trip on a boat (push barges). The vessel has a washer and dryer, that’s all I got.
@@fromtheflightdeck252 Is the medium carry on size for all airlines (domestic and international)? I'm looking for one bag that will take me anywhere on any flight. This seems to be it but just upset no exterior pockets for passport, ID, etc.

Sadly... If you are looking for Filson garments... They will no longer be made in USA! They are closing down sewing facilities in north west and contracting with factories overseas! Watch the labels! They will ruin the Filson name just like Levi did! Poor quality and poor fabric!

I worked for the factory they just closed the end of October located in Post Falls Idaho. They told us it was financially smarter for them to make there goods overseas. If you look at the labels you will see more saying imported. I have heard that they will... At least for now... Continue to make bags and luggage in US.

I like filson stuff but it's way over priced.
@Heywood Jablome No, it's not like that. For example; you get a Carhartt shirt for 50.00 and a filson for 120.00 or more, both well made. Carhartt is made in USA. Once I got a very good Filson belt, 135.00, A strong but plain well made belt.
I just appreciate the quality of the materials in my new Filson medium duffle bag. Vegetable tanned bridle leather and brass fittings on tan twill canvas make this one perfect travel companion that is designed to fit overhead bins in the airplane. Meets carry on dimensions in great style.
Looks nice. Questions: Although Filson states the dimensions are 20" W x 13" H x 12" D, do you find that it will be ok to carry on flights when fully stuffed? Also, the zipper opening has gotten criticism for being too small to easily pack/unpack/rummage through the bag. Do you believe a U-shaped zipper opening would be better or is it good to go as-is? Thanks for the review.
Lance Hubbard- I'm a big Filson fan and have done my homework on the duffle. The opening once broken in will be easier to get stuff in and out of. "Pack it cubes" are recommended for easy access & organization. The great thing about this bag, is that it's the last you will ever need. It will Patina well with use over the years & comes with a lifetime warranty.
As for the carry on dimensions; as long as it's 45 combined you should be alright, they revised it for that purpose. Just realize since it's not plastic, it will expand on demand, so stuffing to max isn't recommended. Always leave a little room
Matt S thanks for the update for the question. I was traveling and had no trouble as a carry on. The zip is fine. heavy duty but would lose the overall style if they went for a U shape as there is the storm flap to cover the straight zip. I had no trouble getting stuff in and out.

I agree, the storm flap and the way the duffel patinas is what draws me to the Duffel over say the Filson Sportsman or Medium Travel Bag.
