He mary my mum and me used to listen to you singing this song. she loved the rocks and loved you take on it. she passed away recently but we shared lovely irish moments together didnt have her growing up so the is very special to me dun na gnall
Mary Keenan has an amazing talent . How wonderful that she utilizes it to maintain the tradition of the music of the travelling people, Thanks for this upload..
Tom, just a few days ago Peter Patten of Vermont, USA, sang the Vermont version of this at the Kincora Trad Fest across the lake. Peter is descended from slate-cutters in Castletownarra (Minogues, I believe) who lived up by the quarry and left for America during the Great Famine. He posts on the Tipperary genealogy page from time to time. So in one day I saw your glorious photos of Coum, heard the Vermont version of this song, discovered this woman's remarkable singing, and felt Tipperary beating in my heart. Joann Hinz
