These mushrooms that you collect are also present in my Poland. Sarcodon imbricatus, commonly known as shingles hedgehog or scaly hedgehog. Its other name is scaly cone, it is a rare mushroom and subject to partial protection in Poland. The pine cone belongs to the same family of boletus mushrooms as the boletus. Scaly cones grow from August to October. They can be found in deciduous, coniferous and mixed forests, more often in the south Polish in foothill forests. It is a mycorrhizal fungus, associated with beech, fir or spruce. Cones most often grow singly.
Eric and Ariel your videos show how beautiful of place Alaska is offering the type of lifestyle that if I were 30 years younger I know that I would have been able to easily decide to make Alaska my home thank you so much for the beautiful scenic shots of the Alaska Wilderness.
Once again, you have created an utter masterpiece of an opening sequence. Thank you for sharing the wonderful wildness of Alaska and the majestic beauty of your home and life.
I’m again blown away by the quality and beauty of your photography. It reminds me of the photographers from National Geographic!! Well done. And the foraging was amazing. You guys are the best!💕💕
Your cinematography is amazing like a professional nature documentary. I look forward to your videos every week. I’m not a garlic lover but your recipe did sound good.❤

Even by your amazing standards, that opening was something really special. The strings made me so emotional, against your spectacular photography. Thank you.
Its great to see all the ways you cooked and dried the mushrooms. There are so many mushrooms that i have never seen. It looks like winter will be arriving shortly. I truly enjoy all the videos over the years. Until your next video, take care and be safe.(Judy NB)🌲🇨🇦

You guys are the BEST example of how mankind should live: providing your own, living of the land and being no bother to others. I can watch this all the time. So much thanks for sharing this with us!
Marinated grouse breast wrapped in bacon and grilled is hard to beat! Super good in the crockpot w/cream of mushroom soup as well! Good luck with the rest of your fall protein gathering!👍🏻
I can't help but admire your ambition and courage. It reminds me of my younger days when I slept in the back of my pickup truck starting my own boreal forest homestead in Ontario, Canada. The hard work and also the fun was well worth it. Enjoy and please show us more. Thanks. Terry
The kabobs looked delicious. Have you ever wrapped the grouse with bacon? I used to with grouse and pheasant gives it moisture and of course , flavor. Another interesting and informative video on mushrooms and the processing. Goes without saying the photography of the wildlife is outstanding. Blessings to you both. 😊🇺🇲
My lord! Such a beautiful begining... for a moment there I thought I was watching a nature show. U are incredible! I had to watch the introduction twice!Thank you!
Thanks so much for introducing us to Toum! We were inspired by your garlic harvest last year and planted some of the same varieties you mentioned. They did pretty well considering how wet the summer was! And now we have "garlic crack" tucked away for the winter! After making it this morning I fully understood why you were so joyful when you sampled it!!
You’ve done it again with the footage. Thank you so much for sharing. You made my day today. The mushrooms looked great after canning. Take care the two of you until next time be safe out there. Love you both✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️❤️
Grouse are wonderful. The garlic dish you made sounds off the scales and I’ve never seen that quantity of wild mushrooms. You two live a charmed life provided by your intelligence and hard work.❤
I'm glad to see you cutting the mushrooms rather then pulling them out of the ground. By cutting the stems the mushrooms will resprout . Ethical harvesting, well done.

What beautiful fall colors, mushrooms and salmon. You always have the most awesome scenery and music in the beginning of your videos. Also I have no idea how in the world the two of you did all that work on the Quonset hut alone…you are in great shape and work so well together.😊

Wow thats a lot of mushrooms and they look amazing! You guys are very resourceful love watching to see what you will try next. And the beginning of your video was so beautiful and peaceful loved it.
I couldn't help but giggle at y'all when it was raining and there stood the hut. 🤣 You have to admit that was a little funny. I always find grouse so interesting during the summer months. They look a lot like chickens, but happen to be dark meat like duck. Never tried grouse that I can recall, but I think I'd really like it since I like duck meat.
Makes my heart sing just seeing all of you……the beauty you capture is so moving……you’ve brought us with you for so long now and I’m grateful for every moment. ❤️💫❤️
Another canning recipe you might try sometime with mushrooms is pickling them ☺️ I was doubtful about pickled mushrooms before moving to France but they’re so good and very nice for snacks or with the French apero 😊 autumn hasn’t started here but I think we’re all looking forward to the heat breaking into cooler days. Enjoy the season and looking forward to a new video !
