I own a MDX Type S. Its a phenominal car. The attention to detail and effort to make it a true Type S is soo impressive. In Comfort it is the most cofortable car I have owned and in Sport+ it its a canyon carving rocket. I would prefer a mild hybrid MDX Type S over this just to boost milage and fill the turbo lag gap. That would be perfect and get you 5K towing and better dynamics than a blazer based chassis.
while the MDX Type S may have some features which make it a unique offering in the MDX line up. This offering has come very late into the game. Look at a standard BMW X5, look at the basic straight inline six with minimum 335HP, if you go hycrid it bumps to 375 and never mind if you decide to go for the X5 M Competition which has over 600HP. so in the grand scale of things the TYPE S- MDX has just barely enough power to move from 0-60 in about 1 second from the basic MDX engine line up. the Air suspension + SH-AWD is a great option to have but Acura has poor fuel efficiency on the MDX going back to the 2nd generation of the original MDX. I love my 2011 MDX with SH-AWD but the fuel efficiency is 15-16 MPG for city driving. I dont give it up cause I love the handling for such a big SUV and while its slow the 300HP give you a fun ride and power whenever necessary. Its a shame Acura cannot make cars like the way it used to make cars back when the Legend was offered in 1987. The have lost their mojo for sure!

I figured with everyone pumping the brakes on full electrics, Acura would backtrack into hybrids. They know buyers are willing to pay the premium on performance mild hybrids, they could easily take the lessons they learned from the NSX and apply them to Acura models. I heard rumblings that Mr. Ikeda was moving on from the brand, so could Acura finally be pushed into the luxury category instead? I thought they were going to ditch FWD models, but it wasn't mentioned with 25MY MDX announcement. Also with the Civic being leaving the 1.5T in the rearview (CRV probably not far behind), where does that leave the Integra? The ADX is still a complete mystery, along with the facelift or redesign of the RDX (which im praying for the redesign), Acura SUVs are going to be the bread and butter for the brand. As for the ZDX, it's nice enough but I'm not expecting it to be a sales giant, luckily they are sharing cost with GM. Honestly, I think Acura would have been better served creating a larger 3-row SUV and creating a hybrid version of the 3.0T. take your blazer back to the garage and keep it there! Cause its overpriced and lack luster. Put this car against a X5 M-Competition and you talking 600+HP out the door, which will leave the Acura/Blazer in the dust. Bad enough the MDX and RDX still dont have hybrid=options, they have the worst performance given what other competitors are doing now,
I believe like the last ZDX this one will flame out. First of all the chrome trim along the roofline makes it look like a hearse. What the heck was Acura thinking. For my money I’d take the ICE MDX Type S all day over this oddball offering from the “Precision Crafted” brand….and I don’t mean Cadillac.
This is more of a fit between the RDX and MDX. I hope down the line Acura makes their own. If lease deals get ridiculous I might replace my Camry with this. I will probably get the ICE MDX while it lasts. It’s going to be interesting to see if there’s a run on ICE MDX’s in 2027 when that product reaches the end of the line before EV conversion.
