Remembering Eastern Airlines Flight 605 that crashed on Memorial Day, May 30, 1947 BP89 5/30/23

On Memorial Day, May 30th, 1947. Eastern Airlines Flight 605 was on its way from Newark to Miami when suddenly it plunged from the sky and crashed just above Bainbridge and Port Deposit, Maryland. All 53 passengers and crew were killed. The aircraft was a DC-4. And at the time, it was the worst aviation disaster in North America. However, just the day before on May 29, United Airlines Flight 521 crashed while taking off at LaGuardia Airport in New York killing 43 of the 48 passengers and crew. For one day, that was the worst aviation disaster that occurred in North America. On May 29, I visited the crash site where there is also a memorial. This is the vlog I made, which is dedicated to the passengers and crew of Flight 605.

Very informative vlog, Pete! I'd never heard about those two crashes (of course, they were before my time), but to have such a disastrous crash as that of Flight 605 so close to home is a bit alarming. Nice touch at the end to leave the flag!

I only learned about it a week or two ago and found the story fascinating. Plus, since it happened on Memorial Day I wanted to make a vlog about what happened and to pay tribute to those who died. Thank you, Jean✌️

Very interesting about the flight from LaGuardia and then the next day the Eastern Flight crashing just crazy! Thx for sharing, very sad, who knows what could have been!

I just learned about this a couple weeks ago. No one has covered it on RUclips so decided to, especially since it happened on Memorial Day. Two horrible crashes within a day of each other and both planes were a DC-4. Thanks, Vic✌️

Never heard of those crashes. Very interesting. I guess they occurred before the invention of black boxes in planes.
