- I saw this Ibanez GIO listed on reverb.com for $149.00 BRAND spankin' NEW. I know Ibanez makes quality guitars, but how could such a large and well-known company be making guitars like this for so little money? Could this guitar possibly be worth anything? Let's find out together.
FYI: The neck is MAPLE not Poplar. I got it wrong in the vid!
I read numerous written reviews about this guitar and looked at other similar priced guitars up to $300. Ordered it online today. Thought I’d hop on YT and check it out after the fact. Great review!
Excellent review! Currently thinking about buying that exact model and you have helped me make up my mind. Thanks and keep it up
Glad I could help! Enjoy
Hello Andrew! I just bought this as my first guitar and I am very excited. Thank you for the video, it was wonderful and reassured me that I made a good first choice. Thanks a lot, rock on!
thank you so much for this video T^T it helped me a alot! as a fairly new electric guitar player, who's looking to to get into metal songs, i find that ibanez really does the job. this video convinced me more to get it, thank you for the review!!
Glad I could help!

I have seen hundreds of guitar reviews and some hardly even play the guitar and some have so much gain that you can't hear anything but noise. Yours are some of the best out there. If I am thinking about a new guitar, I always check here to see if you happen to have reviewed it. Keep up the great work and rock on!
Thanks man! New one coming out soon actually, stay tuned.
i've actually got this and i feel so much more inspired to play it now!
Would you recommend this as an upgrade?
it's a great beginner guitar but if u want to upgrade any type of guitar and get an all round quality guitar i would go for a jackson j series
@@mattjones5328 ahhh okay. I found a Jackson earlier when I was looking for guitars. Thank you so much!
@@mattjones5328 would you say the Jackson JS1X Dinky minion is a good guitar?
i haven't tried it but any of the j series will be good value
go into more research and rlly find what's good for u
go to guitar shops and try guitars to find ur style
I have that same exact model in Black Night. Absolutely great guitar. A great player after a simple setup. But I hated the pickups and the 5 way switch. I switched mine to low output alnico 2 humbuckers and a 3 way switch with full size pots. It's now a beast. Love the 12" radius fretboard and the Dinky shaped body. Wow, what a great guitar for the price. Thank You Ibanez! And yes, I'm going to buy another one. I think the blue one this time.
Fretboard radius is 40Omm= 15,75“ 😊
amazing review, thank you for doing it right out the box.
Ibanez makes a good jumbo fret guitar. That's why its player friendly. Nice wide frets . Its a good guitar for players with big/long/fat fingers
I will buy this guitar. This will make forth Ibanez.
My 2006 S470 with the ZR bridge system is still a Phenomenally enjoyable instrument. I even had a new neck installed by Hoshino in NJ to repair the common nut bolt crack in the neck wood once and it was definitely worth it since the "claw" adjuster wheel is Genius level fast and easy and the ball bearing mounted ZR bridges can last a couple of lifetimes. The "Wizard" thin neck profile and 16" Radius are rather extreme though and not my favorite.
I own an Ibanez GRX70Q and I just put my Yamaha Pacifica 012 & Glarry GST on Craigslist If they sell I'll get the GRX20Z Keep up the good work
just bought this guitar, thanks for doing a video on it
Hello I got that guitar yesterday it sounds amazing mine came in jewel blue I now own a gio Ibanez
*Can anyone please help me out!* 🙏
I wanna buy an electric guitar but I'm hesitant between the Ibanez grgr131ex bkf which is a gorgeous guitar and this one
Hi, I have subscribed to your channel
I have a question- my fingers are bit small. Do you recommend me to go with this ?
How is this different than the Ibanez GRX20W
How is the action on this out of the box? Would it require any adjusting? I just bought a cheap guitar on Amazon and the action was way to high and to get adjusted the cheap guitar would no longer be cheap.
Yeah, unfortunately getting any guitar set up is going to cost between 60-100 depending on where you go. Lots of "how to" vids exist on how to lower the action, make sure the neck's straight and intonation is right, and others basic adjustments. It's easy, just give it a search. RE: the ibanez, I got it set-up and kept the action where it was out of the box, which was pretty dang low. Good luck man
This or fender squire bullet strat?
Do you think this is a good second guitar? I'm thinking about getting one but not too sure yet.
I actually think thats the jatoba fretboard
The rosewood one looks a lot darker
It is Jatoba :)
i’m getting this and i’m so exitedd
Enjoy!
BOOM 212th sub. You have earned it my friend
thanks man
I want to upgrade my starter kit guitar and I’m not really a beginner. Would you recommend to play in a band?
Yes, I would recommend both.
How much does this guitar weigh?
Please could someone tell me if the behringer vt30fx amp is a good match for this guitar? For metal and dirty tone. I already have this guitar but i need an amp and im struggling to choose which one, also i wanted to buy a marshall but i cant afford it now. So is the behringer amp a good match with this ibanez guitar?
Phill McKnight. Tomorrow at 3pm on his channel he has a livestream where you can ask him pretty much any gear question about any amp etc. I would talk to him, he knows his stuff. I'm using a mini-tube amp, which gives a great sound for recording, without being too expensive. But you might want a solid-state.
@@AndrewFriedberg alright thank you so much!
I wouldn't buy anything Beringer or line 6 and crate is out of business 50watt fender modeling amp is plenty for under 200$ new
Sold in white.graphtic nut?
"I Love Everybody all the time...Forever." Those are some mighty Big words there to live by and...that's why nobody can do that. Nice sentiment though. I don't feel any guilt saying so since I've never even liked Gibson to begin with, so, I'm "cancelled" by default.
Ok may be I didn't tell ya but if I would have know ya ........I would have told ya ...... ibanez make some great guitars! : )
How bout GRX55. ? What's the different
Great video thanks man
I've bought pawn shop ibanezs electric guitars for the last 10 yrs . Ibanez gives you a quality low end guitar that will stay in tune so beginners won't have as much struggle learning to play. Top name guitars do have better hardware installed on there guitars. But your paying 1000's just for the name. You can easily modify a 200$ guitar for under 500$ tuners bridge and pickups. Then call it your own. Thank you Ibanez please upgrade the pots for 5 stars I'm at 4.5
I thought that the neck was made of maple
Yup, noted it in the description. Thanks!
The Neck is Maple not Poplar
Yup, you're right thanks. Put it in the description.
is this a better option than the squire strat?
yes
Depends one what you'd like to do. This is a really fun guitar, faster than the strat, but the strat has some nice clean sounds this guitar might have trouble with .... night not, really depends on the type of music you want to play
Is that better than ibanez GRX70QA pls??
@@lynx-_-abdel7068 They are almost the same guitars, only difference is that grx70 has single pickup in the middle, all other differences are pure cosmetic. Both are good.
Why only one tone knob with two sets of pickups?
Not sure, but my guess is it's a stylistic choice which probably decreases the cost and labor price during manufacturing
1 knob is simpler .why u think u need 2 tone knows? For what?
@@rodneyjones4787 Every pickup has its own colour, and even more so where it is placed (neck vs middle vs body). Every established guitarist knows this so having one per pickup makes life much easier.
is this good for metal
I'd say 6.7/10
This guitar and my js11 are the same size
Hi! Just wanna know which is better between this and JS11 in your opinion? Thanks!
@@jonaduna8918 they are both equal. I had a JS11.
Get the Kramer Barretta Special it's 25 bucks more than this guitar and a way better first guitar than this Ibanez.
That Kramer looks like someone killed the designer before he could draw plans for the neck pickups
@@twistedbunny Fuck that's funny!
That's a maple neck. 🙂
Wooow bro I have same guitar 🎸 ❤
Bro you sound like John Cena😂
I close my eyes and yes I can hear Cena 😀
