Fun fact about Marilyn is that her favorite color of lipstick was orange. With color tv and movies just becoming a thing the colors translated differently and so she actually wore orange which came across as red on film. It’s interesting. Erin parsons (celebrity makeup artist/vintage makeup expert) has a video all about it. It’s fascinating
I was coming her to say the same thing. I love that fact about her because it's suck a common misconception that became a norm over the years so its like a super cool fact when someone finds out.
Honestly products that I’d like to see be made when inspired by the 1940s-1950s is Wooden Light brown & dark brown/black brow pencil. Kohl eyeliner or Cake makeup pan with a black cream that can be used as liner Cake mascara. Cream rouge Powder Red, orange & Pink lipstick. Bésame does it but I want cheaper options lol.
I wanted to come back and comment that the glitter highlight ended up growing on me throughout the day. I wouldn't use it as a go-to every day product, but for special occasions or super glam looks, I think it''d look pretty. Every time I looked in the mirror I ended up going "woah!" with how beaming my cheeks were lol! The blush though... still too much glitter 😬
I love love your story about the paper and your teacher. When I was in high school, we had to write a report about an important historical event in American History. I was told that the Beatles and the British Invasion was a no. Still did it anyway
I wonder if they've gone with the glitter because Marilyn was known for her super glowing skin? However, that glow was created with Vaseline, not glitter.
Your teacher is awful. He was disguising his misogyny by treating Marilyn sub-humanly. I'm so glad you actually stood your ground about her and told him "no, I'm writing it."
I've seen a movie staff worked with her for her late ( the last one or one of her last ) movie saying she was very caring & really concerned if the horses used in the movie were well taken cared of or mistreated . 💘💖👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
@slashedbeauty Yes,I really think she was easily the most underrated actress in the history despite of being the most well known actress universally all time !! I almost feel real bad for her !! And a real star quality like hers ,we don't see anymore !! She was super smart to become Malyrin Monroe as we know of !! She invented herself !! I'm sure with some help from others ,too ! Celebrities got lots of helps from their staff !! But,she was a real deal !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Ooohhh, how fun 🥰. Marilyn Monroe was a brilliant queen. The packaging is cute, but the products definitely could have been better 🤨. How do you NOT nail a Monroe collection?! 🤦🏾♀️
Love that story about the paper on Marilyn Monroe! I had somewhat of the same thing happen with me in high school film class. We had to do a 10 page paper on a movie director. I chose gene Kelly. The teach tried to persuade me not to do him as I wouldn’t be able to do a full 10 pages and I couldn’t do anything about his acting just directing. Well I got 8 pages on just his directing, she was so impressed that I didn’t get docked for not having 10 pages and she asked if she could keep it as an example in her classes. She was the hardest teacher in the school (she taught English too), very rarely would anyone get a b+ let alone an A and I got an A for that paper.
I love Marilyn. Her and I share the same birthday (and my sister.... I'm 7 yrs older)-- June 1st. Ironically, she passed on my husband's birthday --August 4th. Definitely want to grab some products from this collection. ❤ I think a lot of radiance because Marilyn loved Vaseline to give her a "glow".
I think the look turned out Beautifully. I'm definitely going to get this collection. I have a fascination with MM. I'm going to try the white eyeliner on the water line and the brown on the bottom corner of the eye for the famous shadow effect with the white in-between the black and brown wings. You look Beautiful and Thank you for making this video.💄 💋
@slashedbeauty Oh ~ really !? What I have known was a crazy bizarre thing that very difficult to get out from !! I guess there are other meanings ,too, then !? I just googled it after, but it only mentioned what I knew ! Thanks ! I wonder if that definition is a slang ? Not sure ! Thank you ! 🙏 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
I am in love with Marilyn as person❤ and the beautiful rare woman ❤❤❤I am obsessed with anything her image! (Not real fur as animal lover) but she was bright, intelligent and like you said underestimated ! She love glowy complection! I read she used vaseline under foundation! The eyeshadow palette cute, lipglos, liners , even the highlighter! Could be done better and more in this collection! Agree! But i love sparkle! Is like Marilyn ❤She was so radiant like and rare DIAMOND 😢❤❤❤🌷🌷🌺🌺🌺🍀🍀🍀💐❤
Basic eye and lip colors that you can already get from this brand or any othet for 3x their usual prices. I feel like they should've done something a but more fun and creative as well like a freckle pen. Not sure if they have one in their main collectiom but I've got a beauty mark on the same side of my face as hers down closer to my mouth that I like to fill back in. Would have been a neat addition! Won't be picking any of this collection up as it is.
Most of Marilyn's lip colors were more of an orange tint than anything. Considering the infancy of color television at the time would explain us not seeing the actual pigmentation and shimmer unfortunately. Well done on that report tho 👏👏👏That's awesome.
The collection is cute but they’re charging $10 each when their prices are usually $3-$4.50 for the same products without the Marilyn Monroe name. I just can’t see the justification for the price even though I absolutely love Marilyn . From what I know about our lovely , gracious Marylin I’m confident she wouldn’t approve. 😉❤️
Well they’re bundling products together so it’d be 2 products for $10 or the inclusion of a brush, but yeah usually the collabs come with a higher price tag!
Your story about the role model assignment reminds me so much of something that happened to me in college. In film class we had to pick an actor to write an essay about. I chose Daniel Radcliffe and my teacher said 'no, bad decision, all he's done is Harry Potter etc' He had done quite a few more films at that point and the west end/broadway. He was the same towards my friend who wanted to write about Zac Efron. My friend took his advice and chose a different actor but I was adamant and stuck with Daniel and ended up getting an A as well! My friend got a much lower grade and I honestly believe it's because she changed to someone she wasn't as big a fan of/passionate about writing an essay on. Teachers are human and let their own opinions cloud things, they should know when to step back! And also, as students we have to know when to go with our gut! I'm glad you did too!!
Completely agree!!! I don’t think I would have written as good a paper (as good as it could have been in middle school lol) if I wasn’t super fascinated and inspired by the subject. School and learning should be interactive and build on interests children have in order to really make the material approachable in my opinion!
Thank you for pointing out the glitter. So many influencers call glittery face products "shimmery," and in my mind, that means metallic, not glittery. I was about to buy, but i dont like glitter face products.
I will say, the highlight grew on me throughout the day. Not an every day product for me definitely, but I could see myself using it sparingly for a glam look!

I was going to buy the entire collection for my oldest daughter. Mid 20s. Obsessed with Marilyn. I sent her this video. Its a hard pass. So disappointed. She wasn’t much into the glittering looks. This could have been a really good collection if done right…
I've always found it odd when a company collabs with a dead person... especially one with such an unfortunate end. I get celebrating the good things/aspects. But I just find it weird, personally.
Sorry. You are wrong about Marilyn having a matte face. She was a woman who used Vaseline as a face primer. She was obsessed with what we would call glowy skin.
@@antoniac1234 So my statement stands :) Glitter would be wrong for the iconic look they're trying to embody in this collection. Dewy/glowy sure, but not glittery so it's still a miss when it comes to the blush and highlight.
lol then I guess I’m misunderstanding the point you’re trying to make as it seems we’re saying the same thing- glitter wasn’t a part of the timeless look from her era so it’s a bit out of place in the collection. 😁
You should've put a fake mole on yourself like Malyrin !! Lol. To complete with one of her trade marks !! I bet you'd look cute & sexy with it !! I used to hate my mole as a child ,but often thought of her mole & felt good about it !! Lol. As I aged ...lol,it sort of came off ,it is still there ,but no colour !! Weird !! It's been more than two decades ago !! So ,not cancerous. Almost 3 decades now !! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
