I always carry a crochet hook. I use it for most of my knots - it's easier when you don't have much dexterity. Surgeons/Orvis knot is a breeze with the hook. I also have a piece of plastic tubing for nail knots with me. Another thing I take with me is UV glue. Smooth out knots, repair small holes in waders and coat the exposed fly line core for example.
@@bobbycrispy5459 The shrink tube and heat gun makes a really neat job. I think i have a video showing how to do this. If not Ill make another. It just means theres no knot. That said, if the knot is neat this method is efficient.
Great video. Lost my braided loop other day on a tree and had to go onto intermediate line as didn't know how to fix it the way you showed.
Great information, I am constantly being asked how do you tape your joints and why. Fancy doing a film about this then I direct them to your site.
Thanks Neil. I'll do this for sure.

You sound like a good friend to have when fishing. Its always good to be well prepared when on the riverbank.
What UV glue do you use, have you got a link please?
Thank you
Best option for a bankside loop. Thank you.
Thanks for that 👍
Good wee tip , where would u buy welded loops from ?
You wouldn’t buy welded loops. They’d either come already part of the flyline, or you’d weld them yourself using shrink tube and a heat gun.
What would u say is the better option using shrink tube with heat gun or just the loop u have shown us ?

👍much appreciated
@@bobbycrispy5459 Your welcome. Im Glad to be of help.
Tie a loop on leader with perfection loop, and then use a sheep's bend to attach leader to line.
