There was so much that led to this moment. Finn being the first football dude in the Glee club. Kurt feeling like his dad liked Finn better because they had football in common. Finn being torn between being kind to Kurt and the Glee kids and the peer pressure from the rest of the Jocks. Burt coming to terms with his son's sexuality. The guys becoming brothers.
This was a beautiful moment that stemmed from so much growth on everyone's part.
