I highly recommend 1 Box of Delaque Gangers from Necromunda. You have long coats, lots of bits and creepy poses. This single Box gives you basically every charakter as cool and REALLY narrative looking Kitbash.
Genius suggestion! I’m planning an XCOM inspired GSC army and Delaque fit perfectly!!! (if you don’t know the game they look a lot like the thin men in the first XCOM)
This video is really informative on how to bash characters for GSC. Kitbashing videos are how I got into the hobby and since I'm not near a store to play my main joy is making horrible monstrosities out of cheap kits I find. And since GSC is basically "some dude with 3 arms, sometimes" they are my favorite little children to create. I'm making my characters separate from my base units by bashing the Neophytes with a box of Necromunda Ashe Waste Nomads (I'm a sucker for their aesthetics). In addition to the unique silhouette it provides, the box also gives a lots of bits for the base cult: weapons (sniper rifles, claw hand weapon, chainglaive, autopistols, spearcannon), greeblies (O2 Tanks for bombs, Shrouds for banners, and Backpacks for heavy weapons), and the heads can work in a pinch for regular base infantry or (if your deranged like me) as colored and trimmed to be improvised grenades and bomb markers.
The trucks are really easy to magnetise, so they can be used as both variants needing only the turret gun options and mount for the dozer along with autocannon mount for the regular doing. The front mounted dozer blade will stay on with friction
One way to make your Genestealer go farther is to abuse the fact you're going to have tons of spare arms and heads. This might mean using a bit of plasticard to create hatches or manhole covers, then glue the arms and heads peeking out from under it. Which is very appropriate from an army all about insurgents crawling out of the woodwork from seemingly nowhere. Stick a few of these in every unit, and suddenly them coming in from reserve (or coming back to life) now has a diagetic explanation. They all sprung up from the manhole cover that the opposing army just didn't notice before. If you're good at making some special effects, or just buy 3d printed parts, you can make it look like spare heads and arms are coming apart due to an explosion. So they're modeled as a cultist mid-death. Or else litter the base with the bits, around a blackened, possibly smoking crater. Or stick them on a mound of clay or hot glue, as if their bodies are being dissolved by acid. (This one is good for matchups against Tyranids, in a sort of "betrayal battle" scenario).
This is not for everyone, I know, but the extra heads and arms work very well with 3rd party stuff too. You can get a box of Les Grognards from Wargames Atlantic for the price of a box of neophytes where I am, and it is 24 bodies you can just stick weapons and heads on, and they look great. I am making them as a 20 man neophyte blob of infected Vostroyan Firstborn, and used the extra bodies, and some acolyte arms for Primuses, and a Nexos. (not the same box, but their heavy weapons squad kit, which I use for Brood Brothers has an arm with a telephone in it, for even better Nexos design. They also have a cavalry squad, which I use as Attilan Rough Riders, so all my Brood Brothers are done up as Vostroyans)
Im painting mine as if they came from Callisto Protocol. So Neophytes have blue/green guard clothes, Acolytes have red/brown miners outfits, and Aberrants have orange prison jumpsuits. All wear the black armor. Genestealers and Patriarch are Xenomorphs from Aliens. But I did convert a Primus to look like RJ MacCready from John Carpenters The Thing lol

Welcome to the cult! Bladed Cog is fun - one arm metal, one arm human, one arm alien. It is the cult I have. Kitbashing GSC is not only one of the easiest factions to do it with - because the characters cost so much it is a necessity
I've used older Caidians as stand in models for Neophytes before, if you paint them the same color scheme you have to really look to spot them, i put a few in each unit as auto rifle guys so i can use the proper neophytes for special weapons, so i can trade out who i need for wysiwyg. Thank you so much for the character conversion ideas. I was looking at this from a perspective of the Wyrmblade Kill team which is allowed to use a Locus a Scnctus (either kind) and a Kellermorph and with Neophyte boxes being $65CAD and each character being $28 CAD it was an expensive prospect to make this team but if it was possible to convert characters out of extra unused Neophyte bodies then I'm all for it.
With all the conversions all those ideas are very close to the original model as well, as long as they are well represented character conversions can go many places so long as you don't make them confusing. I love when there are options and different things you can do to make characters and unique looking guys from baseline stuff. I just bough two of the Combat Patrol boxes to build the core of my GSC army. If I had enough money and there were enough kits I would have grabbed a bunch more for my IG and Chaos armies as well for conversions.
Many people seem to missunderstand one thing regarding army building. You absolutley can field an unlisted size of models per unit, you just have to pay up to the next listet points if you go over the minimum. For example, the said unit at 06:16 You can field a unit of 6 Arco-flagellants, you just have to pay the price for 10. Even the Battleforge in the 40K app works it out like that. That it is not ideal and points are wasted is clear and another story, but you CAN field a unit of 6. If it was stated otherwise by GW directly i have not noticed it and apologize for the wrong information, but i heard it like i said it.

Updated sisters version?
My sisters version is only a few weeks old so it should still stand at least until the codex arrives

I picked up 6 Combat Patrols to start my GSC recently, so much value not to!
I bought four boxes... 😳
How many box do i need for ever option?
I think only 2 combat patrol boxes. That will give 5 acolytes/5 metamorphs; truck/rockgrinder; magus/other character; 40 neophytes that can be made into anything
The rock grinder you can switch the guns and take off the dozer to make it a truck roughly a few magnets really pull it off
Wth Quebec mentioned??
First
Just play necromunda
