If they meant retina only, they would explicitly state it. But no, they state on their website just mid-2012 and older MBP. So, yes, non Retina MBP from 2012 is supported.
I do home automation using HomeKit. I am physically disabled. I can invoke home automation devices hands-free using Siri. However, to set up devices and make changes I need the help of an able-bodied person. I'm excited the Home app Is coming to macOS Mojave. I can control macOS hands-free using Dragon Professional Individual (DPI) for Mac. Having the Home app on macOS should allow me to manage my home automation myself.
A great WWDC for people that can’t affort the iphone X, a smart HD TV, or the latest macbook pro. Lots of things I’ll use as a teacher 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Great video.
Is it a slight upgrade of the dock when you open stocks at 3:55 cause I saw a strange behaviour or just a feature of High Sierra that I missed out? By the way where do you get that Gmail app 6:21? Thank you
i think i found a bug, whenever you go into fullscreen on any video, netflix or youtube, it turns black and the video stays at the normal size in the window :( thats the only bad thing though, can someone please check it out so I know its not just me?
It works fine on my Iphone se but when I try to go full screen on my macbook pro, it just turns black and I can't cancel it or anything? But the video keeps playing in safari in the window.
for sure, I was tempted to just go for it because it has so many features I've wanted but what's the harm of waiting for a few weeks to try the public beta?
Hi Aaron! Oh your video always comes along timely, just when I downloaded on my Mac and your video tutorial is brilliant! Thank you for taking your time to do this another keeper for me!
Running the beta and activating full screen on youtube videos creates a new full black screen. The video keeps playing in the previous window but the new blank screen that's created cannot be closed unless you close the tab with the original video. Guess that's glitch number one
Apple mentioned new file dialogs -- any chance you can show those? Also, great video with one nit... you speak of what you can do in "Preview" -- but that is QuickLook, not Preview. Still, great video.
One thing I noticed in your video is that battery life doesn't seem to be too great. Is that normal battery life for you? I only ask because I thought MacBook Pros got better battery life than that.
How do you find the battery life and performance? I am fully aware that this is a Dev Beta, but still I am curious to see what I can expect for the final release.
@zollotech, I was wondering if Notification Center also turns dark in dark mode. That's one of my big gripes now that even with the menu bar and Dock, Notification Center is still light. Maybe apple will add an auto feature like TVOS has where dark mode turns on and off base on time of day.
Saw all the stuff on the keynote already what about things that were not announced on stage. Any improvement or smarts to mail app to help illuminate spam and group mails topic together for triage? Scene and object recognitions any better in photos app… Is there any OCR systemwide that will recognize text in any photo or scan document? Any other hidden gems in the new Mac OS?
Can you please check if in column view in Finder “Right Size All Columns Individually” option is persistent when you browse through folders/files or not? I hope Apple finally makes it work.
How stable is the beta so far? I did the Yosemite beta and had to wipe my computer because it sucked so bad. I really want to try this out, but I can afford for anything to crap out on me.
Am I missing someting? I thought the idea is that it automatically switches between normal mode and dark mode depending on time of day... Is it possible?
as much as I love the dark mode, I wish they had kept the option for just dark menu bar and dock but normal windows and stuff.. also, think the contrast between the window background on some of the apps could do with some work. maybe a little lighter to differentiate between the title bar, side panel and window background a little easier..
HomeKit on Mojave still needs some tweaks. At this time, I am not able to use images in place of the three very generic wallpapers. This works and syncs just fine on my iPhone X and iPad Pro. Note: All OS and iOS are current.
I really like these features in Mojave. I currently have a laptop PC, and planning my next upgrade, I have seen some reviews of the I-Mac 2018, (and this year is the 20th Anniversary of the I-Mac), including a redesign of the I-Mac, 6 core or 8 core (I am hoping 8 Core), it has a max of 64 GB of Ram, the current I-Mac has 8 GB of video Ram and 1, 2 or even 4 TB SSD. I can't find that in the PC laptops and desktops. Also, Two Thunderbolt ports and 4 USB 3 Ports (I am still seeing USB 2.0 ports on the PC side - which I don't know why, because the USB 3.0 is downward compatible). Most PC's barely have may 256 GB SSD. Possibly the I-Macs will be coming out in October, and I heard Mojave will be coming out by the end of September or early October. Can you import a file that has your Bookmarks from say Edge Explorer? I found out how to export my bookmarks from Edge Explorer in an HTML file format.
Susan Pratt IMO you don’t need top specs to enjoy OS X. It’s instant on, very responsive, has soft clear fonts, accurate scroll on touchpad and quiet fans even on slowest macs. I have iMac 2014 and air 2017 both run great. Ram and ssd are important but the OS is the biggest difference. Just scroll any site on any Mac laptop. You can’t buy this accurate tracking in Win no matter how many ram and cores you have.
Unless they update bootcamp APFS is an issue for me. I noticed on my 2012 Macbook Pro when in Windows 10 when I go to the bootcamp program I can not see my macOS drive to switch the boot drive back to Mac. I know you can hold the option key when booting to get the menu but I use a Microsoft wireless keyboard on my iMac and holding the option key doesn't seem to send a continuous signal when booting to reliably get the menu and if I don't time it right with the chime I don't get the menu. I just hate apple keyboards and mice though I do like their trackpad and use it everyday. I have also had issues with MacOS updates breaking things and not seeing those things fixed until the .3 or .4 release. I really had some screen freezing issues on High Sierra on my 2013 iMac until the 10.13.3 release. Apple seems to getting just as bad as Microsoft as far as releasing bugs but at least Apple doesn't try to force them on us.
To help you out, it’s sorta both. The background changes throughout the day. It’s the same thing but you can see the sun slowly rise, go across the sky, and set from day to night, almost like a video of the location. In day you have light mode, at night you get dark mode. I want an option where you can have the background do that while only having dark mode.
Apple finally understand that everyone loves a dark theme. This is basically just an update to High Sierra, it should be marketed that way. And why are some basic apps from Windows and Linux only just being added to the OS!?
Not sure i want to try this one.. i Love colors, lots of bright color and this system seems dull and lifeless looking..maybe its just the darkmode...the other thing that has concerned me since the sierra update is that firmware seems to get done ,without warning, and whatever is updated firmware wise is Not reversible, even if u have backed up in advance, everthing may restore but the new firmware remains...this makes me reluctant to test any more new systems becuz things get changed that cant be fully put back to b4...
Beatiful naration with good voice timbr and intonations. (Most of other speakers on YouTume I am anable even finish listening. Espessially I hate Linus with his o! ye! stile of speeking and his permanent teeneging panicking mode... but this is out of subject...)
Hello Aaron, i need help , I have MBP mid 2012 i5 with 4 gb and 500gb, and I wanted to upgrade it to 8 gb and 240gb ssd. Plz let me know should I upgrade it considering Mojave and future upgrades? My main task like software dev (Android and iOS )and photo editing. Currently I’m running High Sierra but it is too slow. And let me know about should I upgrade ram to 16gb?
zollotech thanks for the advice! Would you say mojave serves the same function as iOS 12 in the sense that they’re working on making the os more stable and speeding it up?
Loving this dark mode tho
Mojave is running great on my 2012 MBP i5
Kyle Wright is it MBP late 2012 ?
Uday Eega nah its a mid, 8gb ram & 240gb ssd
Can i get it on my MacBook Pro late 2011 ?
so just to confirm, it's the cMBP and not the retina, right? :) if so that's so great news - my mac will be supported until 2020 fall as it seems. :)
If they meant retina only, they would explicitly state it. But no, they state on their website just mid-2012 and older MBP. So, yes, non Retina MBP from 2012 is supported.
The take photo option is so underrated its life-changing for me honestly.
I assume the Mac will be able to act as a hub (as an iPad can now) for Home so we can automate tasks remotely?
Also "software update" is now a system preferences option just like on iOS, it is not inside the App Store anymore.
EddyGraphic finally .. it doesn‘t belong into the App Store
I remember the good, old days when Software Update was an app of its own. It's good they did that.
That is good, it was so annoying to go into the app store to update.
A great WWDC for people that can’t affort the iphone X, a smart HD TV, or the latest macbook pro. Lots of things I’ll use as a teacher 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Great video.
Great video. you should have showed the safari favicons though.
Is it a slight upgrade of the dock when you open stocks at 3:55 cause I saw a strange behaviour or just a feature of High Sierra that I missed out? By the way where do you get that Gmail app 6:21? Thank you
Very nice, I live close to the Mojave desert here in California, so this is actually cool.
i think i found a bug, whenever you go into fullscreen on any video, netflix or youtube, it turns black and the video stays at the normal size in the window :( thats the only bad thing though, can someone please check it out so I know its not just me?
Works ok for me in RUclips on iPhone X
It works fine on my Iphone se but when I try to go full screen on my macbook pro, it just turns black and I can't cancel it or anything? But the video keeps playing in safari in the window.
wow ...
just wait until the end of the month and get the more stable public beta release. If you install it now it could work just fine or brick you're mac.
for sure, I was tempted to just go for it because it has so many features I've wanted but what's the harm of waiting for a few weeks to try the public beta?
Hi Aaron! Oh your video always comes along timely, just when I downloaded on my Mac and your video tutorial is brilliant! Thank you for taking your time to do this another keeper for me!
the new wallpaper set up is really cool, looking forward for the public beta program : )
thanks for the video. Does Final cut have any issues with the beta?
great video, fun to see all the new stuff in macOS Mojave
literally love your vids, I never really watch all vids to the end but I do on yours! keep up the excellent work.
Thank you! I really appreciate it
Just a question is there any update for the touch bar ?
“Done” I want an iPhone x
Everyone showed ios beta noone went for macos and watch os!!! You are great zollotech !
Running the beta and activating full screen on youtube videos creates a new full black screen. The video keeps playing in the previous window but the new blank screen that's created cannot be closed unless you close the tab with the original video.
Guess that's glitch number one
Let me know Fcp 7 will work in this version?
It will be nice if all iPhones has dynamic wallpaper
Another GREAT video! Thanks Arron
Apple mentioned new file dialogs -- any chance you can show those?
Also, great video with one nit... you speak of what you can do in "Preview" -- but that is QuickLook, not Preview. Still, great video.
What app are you using to display your ram, CPU and memory usage in your menu bar?
The dark mode on a specced out iMac Pro is a true life goal. For us. The Mortals.
Thanks, great video. Very disapointed that MAIL have not been changed. And I thnk it could be good with a video on Photos functionality in Mojave.👍
Hey Aaron, do you think this would run good, or even improve a 2012 MacBook Pro?
At least run better than High Sierra?
One thing I noticed in your video is that battery life doesn't seem to be too great. Is that normal battery life for you? I only ask because I thought MacBook Pros got better battery life than that.
Excellent overview. Thank you.
I’m running the new betas on my iPhone X, MacBook Pro and Apple Watch! Delighted to say that they actually run really smoothly and I love them
Can't wait to have this on my 2012 MBA
is speed improved since high sierra
how did you record the screen? its cropped and doesn't look like the normal size
How is the performance. I am using a 2015 MBA
Maybe apple will add an auto feature like TVOS has where dark mode turns on and off base on time of day.
can you use this as a daily driver? only use my MBair for storing files and browsing
will that news app work on high sierra ?
How did you get the second Line Seperator in the Dock? Next to the Home App
Hey they always had a very bad video codec for screen recording, can you tell us the metadata of the codec after a screen recording?
Can you please check if in column view in Finder “Right Size All Columns Individually” option is persistent when you browse through folders/files or not? I hope Apple finally makes it work.
hey tells us about the apps that are there in your status bar at the top !!
How stable is it? Is it safe to do it on a shared/family Mac?
How stable is the beta so far? I did the Yosemite beta and had to wipe my computer because it sucked so bad. I really want to try this out, but I can afford for anything to crap out on me.
Purchases is missing from App Store, any ideas?
nice review, very exciting for this OS, can you tell me what the app you use that showing the statue of SDD memory CPU. thank you
make a video on how to update to Mojave
what`s your cpu, men, ssd widget ??
Is there any news in Photo apple like brushes or Rating
Can you review this on the MacBook 12 in 2015 please. Thank you.
How to back up in news app iPhone 6plus arone sir
10.14 is running great on my hackintosh
Am I missing someting? I thought the idea is that it automatically switches between normal mode and dark mode depending on time of day... Is it possible?
did you watch the video?
as much as I love the dark mode, I wish they had kept the option for just dark menu bar and dock but normal windows and stuff..
also, think the contrast between the window background on some of the apps could do with some work. maybe a little lighter to differentiate between the title bar, side panel and window background a little easier..
my thoughts exactly! or make it app specific or give us a toggle to adjust how dark it gets.
HomeKit on Mojave still needs some tweaks. At this time, I am not able to use images in place of the three very generic wallpapers. This works and syncs just fine on my iPhone X and iPad Pro.
Note: All OS and iOS are current.
iMessages and FaceTime on my MacBook are not working . if your could help or assist me to get them back to work .
Will it will work on iMac'27 2011?
will this run on my Mac mini??
When will it be released to the public?
TC Conner some time in September
I really like these features in Mojave. i have the first retina mbp 15" how will this affect the performance?
I am still on Yosemite
It’s great so far
zollotech do you thibk i should upgrade my laptop from Yosemite to this?
My airbook not allowing - says (enroll Mac)
how do you get your mouse to go white when you click things?
I use Screenflow to record. It's an option
Thus far would you say it's useable for daily use?
So far it is much more usable
Love your videos
This is really great all around.
Love pink color and new app store.Support.
Has The Mojave beta been stable thus far?
Stacks is not a new feature, it was part of dock bar..
It’s a new feature for the desktop
Anyone on the beta with a safari problem? Mine won’t open up :(
Mohave looks pretty good so far.
Unless they update bootcamp APFS is an issue for me. It looks pretty stable for a beta, but can't tell unless i got it myself.
Any incompatibility with Norton antivirus or other apps or instability with this beta?.
No idea. I would never use norton on a Mac. So far all my other apps work though.
Hi Aaron. Is Dark Mode the default setting in macOS Mojave or an optional setting?
Brian Clifford did you watch the video?
Yes, I did watch the video. And your point is??
In the video he said that you can choose either to use dark or light theme
In the video he said the background of the wallpaper will change according to which theme you've got and will adapt between day and night time.
To help you out, it’s sorta both. The background changes throughout the day. It’s the same thing but you can see the sun slowly rise, go across the sky, and set from day to night, almost like a video of the location. In day you have light mode, at night you get dark mode. Apple finally understand that everyone loves a dark theme. This is basically just an update to High Sierra, it should be marketed that way. And why are some basic apps from Windows and Linux only just being added to the OS!?
Thanks for this video!
Will Mojave return the support to RAID 0 or 1 bootable?
They haven’t said yet
zollotech what apps would you recommend for MacBook Pro? I just picked up one and am a new user coming from windows.
finder is nice now , looks dope, disapppointed that there is no split screen on IOS 12 a litle
There is still split screen. It was added in previous releases
You forgot the BIGGEST FEATURE ! Favicons support now in Safari 😂
If they show up in the favorites bar i can finally dump Chrome, which is a battery hog 🎉
Based on your breathing, you are secretly very excited
Lol
Which system statistics app are you using?????
Istatmenu
zollotech
Thanks Ahron, you are the man!
Keep it up..
your status bar gives me the creeps
Is amazing on my 2014 MacBook Air and 2012 MacBook Pro. Very smooth
Beatiful naration with good voice timbr and intonations. (Most of other speakers on YouTume I am anable even finish listening. Espessially I hate Linus with his o! ye! stile of speeking and his permanent teeneging panicking mode... but this is out of subject...)
Thank you
I.... can't....wait....to get it on my MacBook!!!!!
Is it okay if i update on my macbook pro retina display 13” late 2013?
But my ram only 4GB :(
No. You need more ram.
Awesome video! :)
I think you are awesome i love your videos
I keep getting the "UIKitSystem Quit Unexpectedly" error. Anyone else getting this?
Yes, I have the same problem too unfortunately.
If you find a fix or at least a way to hide the window describing the error it would be nice to share! I am going to try to boot in safe mode.
When do think the PUBLIC BETA will be released? all I care about is dark mode...
A few weeks
Wish they did dark mode on iOS 12 as well
Can somebody tell me how can become a developer so that I can try the beta version Mojave?
Register as a dev, throw $99 at Apple in the process, done.
What is Xcode all about?
Code
Can i get it on my MacBook Pro 13 inch late 2011 ? i hope so i love the darkmode so much
Nope, they cut support from 2012 and earlier models.
nobody :(
If you are interested you can find your purchases in the App Store by clicking on your photo in the bottom left corner.
Where can we download the Beta version??
Only people with a developer account can download the beta but Apple will also release a public beta later this month!
Okay, thanks.
The SSD will make a huge difference and get as much RAM as you can afford
zollotech hey thanks for quick reply, Ok I will upgrade it soon. 👍🏻
When will mojave officially come out?
September
zollotech would you say it’s stable enough to install on my primary laptop?
I would never do that
zollotech thanks for the advice! Would you say mojave serves the same function as iOS 12 in the sense that they’re working on making the os more stable and speeding it up?
