For real lol...I noticed this too watching other CCs reactions. Everyone has like 0 attention span. They open by explaining the setting right from the start, but it just goes in one ear and right out the other and a minute later they're somehow puzzled. It really doesn't require multiple watches or bit by bit analysis (apart from some small details), when they literally start with the explanation.
I'm used to it at this point but it does get slightly frustrating when reactors pay so little attention to the content they're reacting to, not necessarily this person specifically but just in general.
But anyways, this was a nice animated short. Best of luck if you're pulling.
Yet again, ive seen several ppl watch this and apparently so many ppl just dont pay attention, and then they ask all these questions, clueless about stuff, when the answers to their questions are in the short they just watched , they would know them if they just paid alittle more attention and its not like the story is complicated
How about instead of being condescending, you could just explain? Im not a lore guy by any means, I just like to watch and see cool shit, so “my bad” if I didnt understand everything. Im not sitting here and analyzing everything, I watched it once, it looked cool, and that was it.

So the previous "mother" made all the kids fight each other to make them stronger, and kill off the weak. Young arlecchino friend was the biological daughter of the "mother". When arlecchino walked into that fight room, after being forced to kill her friend, the "mother" was holding the potted flower that was wilting. She said its better to prune them young than watch them wilt, as a metaphor for forcing the kids to fight each other to the last man standing. Thats why arlecchino got so pissed off.
It is also whyvshe goes by father instead of mother. Mother pretended to be warm and caring but was brutal and evil inside. Arlecchino wants to be harsh and cold exterior while secretly cares for all her orphans.
