You saved the best tip until almost the very end. Your video is very helpful! Still struggling a little bit but I can now see light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks!
Another great one! Wish I saw this video before i got my first front flipper. Front flippers are so fun, after getting over the intial learning curve! 😆
I'm a sucker for a front flipper. My first front flipper was the Assassin and man did I struggle. I didn't think i was going to like them but then I got the Mckenna and my world got turned upside down. I don't have an issue with my assassin now but don't recommend them to a front flipper noob. The knife I love handing someone to watch them struggle opening is the Boker Kansei. They can't even get ahold of the blade and open it the old fashioned way. The Kansei is also a good starter because you also have the back flip option.
Ryan Micklich I agree. As a front flipper it can be a bit challenging, but having the back flipper as well makes it nice so the person can work on front flipping, but also continue to carry and use the knife regularly. 👍🏼👍🏼
Love a front flipper..have many..my twosuns are favs..for sure the ts129 and ts198. That said my favorite front flipper is the Artisan Centauri it is perfect in everyway..clip..detent..ergos.. looks and just a saweet knice blade..good for bigger hands too..or all hands really..
I've really been loving front flippers lately. The McKenna is definitely one of my favorites so far. I've been looking for a larger front flipper like the bigger centauri but i'm still on the fence since they're up there in price. Have you ever handled one?
Nice little tutorial brother, I'm impressed and I don't often say that, so much so I've hit that "subscribe" button! As a knife collector of 30 odd years, I too am a huge fan of front flipper deployment and in particular that of the "fidgit" factor that comes with it! Well done!
Great video as always! I still would love to know why do you prefer the front flipper over back flippers. Is it the quickness of deployment? Or the fact that you don’t need any wrist for it? Or just something about the way it allows you to fidget?
Rony Balagula I just find them to be a bit more fidgety and I also think the front flipping method is a bit more flashy. Front flipping also just feels a little more natural for me.
I would like to add, that there is no big flipper tab sticking out. The front-flipper is slimmer in pocket, and, not having the big flipper tab sticking down while open. The most important thing for me. Is the ability to then place my index finger directly under the pivot-pin. So a choked up position can be taken, without putting a finger choil onto the blade. Which just takes away from cutting edge length.
Thanks for the show! This needed to be addressed, and I'm glad you did it. It's so nice to meet a fellow front-flipper fan. There are still too few of us! I can tell, that you and I are going to get along wonderfully. : - ) I would like ask a favor from you though. Going forward, I would like you to also show the ability of the front-flipper knife to be slow-rolled open, or not. Using the FF tab. I have most of these knives you are showing now, or have had. So you may get a new one(s) in the future, that I have not bought yet. For those of us who use our knives 16 times a day. We get past having to have the fast, loud *thwack* at every opening. Plus, a slow roll open fidget is fun too, and quiet. For those times when she has to be along for the ride in the Truck, and does not want to listen to 200 miles worth of thwacking! Take for example the Bestech Shinkansen knife, that came out about 2 years ago. One of my first FF knives. At about half way through the blades travel to open. The jimped portion of the blade became flush with the handle scales. Knocking my thumb away from the tab. So no slow-roll open possible with it. I was going to Mod it, but when the HRC report came in on the blade, and it was about 56 HRC. So I sold it off, and reclaimed my $200.
Added a little 2" snake knot urban camo peracord lanyard to the back of my Maileah and made it so much easier to front flip with the extra to get a purchase on and it contrasts great with the black and red accents.
@@WaynesSharpWorld had to take scale off to pinch my paracord through but aesthetically it looks great and being able to grip lanyard with ring and pinky finger and clip with middle and pointer it's very easy to use and after deployment there is no adjusting to index the handle
Great video, I just got a micratamorph and it's been kicking my butt. ,I thought to grip it the show side should press the inside of my palm while my fingers tips pressed against the other side. Now to try your method.
@@joeringer4373 good question! I have one front flipper that doesn’t have a pocket clip and I just press my fingers down where the pocket clip would be and that works pretty well. 👌🏼

Kizer Feist W & Kizer De L Orme are my favorite FFs but the Civivi Imperium was my first FF and still holds a place in my heart as my first...
The Imperium is soooo good!!

I just picked up my first front flipper, CIVIVI Exarch. The clip and the downward pressure tips helped a lot. Now I can fidget until my thumb bleeds.
YUSSS 😬👊🏼🙌🏼

Would you reccomend the civivi brass 154cm mckenna or the g10 Damascus version. I cant decide which to buy 🤷♂️👀 any help?

What do you think about that Kizer Feist? Was thinking about getting one, especially that new micarta one. It looks sweeeet
Jacob Fortnite I don’t own one but have handled one and I like it. The micarta version is very tempting to me as well!
Great video . I dont have any FF yet but am in the market .
Oregon Knife Guy the Mckenna is an excellent starter!
G5 Metamorph is probably the best place to start. I jumped right to a model with M390, titanium back spacer, and marbled CF handle.

Is there a technique that doesn't use or rely on the clip?
