Steve...Speaking of firefighters, when I was a voluteer FF in our rural area we used portable tanks that we would haul water to in order fight a fire, because there were no hydrants. A water vortex was a problem when we would start pumping water, it would allow air into the system and cause the pump to lose prime. In order to combat this, we would throw a 6" plastic ball into the tank, it would "plug" the top hole of the vortex. Thanks, Love your videos!
lmfao Blending it. lmfao. I'm british and found this guy by accident...I've never looked back. He reminds me of my science teachers from high school. Go steve!!!
I used the original caps of the bottles, used a soldering iron to put a hole between both, duct tape both the caps and unite them, and there you go!! you got your own science toy ready for no additional cost at all!!
My brother and I always put glitter in our tubes. We didn't have the little plastic piece so we had to drill a hole in both caps of the bottles and used hot glue to stick them together. These are some very good ideas and I may have to try some of them!
I originally saw the "empty the bottle" trick on the Nine News segment with your sons. I was looking for something for a weekly spot I do with Kids On a Mission at church. I grabbed a couple of 1 liter and 2 liter bottles. Had the kids test the "Glub-glub" method against the "Swirly-guy" method. They loved it. My wife had the tornado tube and the fountain tube, so we showed they kids those too. At the end of the demos I had quite a lot of water to clean up.Lots of fun.
Hahahaha loved the guy sitting in the pantry! Also "Where's the spider..SHI-beep!" and the Blendtec Parody. Plus the fire tornado was really cool! Awesome episode!
This whole episode was amazing. I always think I'll get bored watching these videos, because even though I find the subject interesting, on most shows it's usually explained in a dull way. This is so much fun. :) And the ending was just awesome. :P
I think I saw the "spin the bottle to drain faster" trick on Bill Nye the Science guy! I actually use this trick regularly to refill my water bottle in the mornings.
The washer can be picked up from any local hardware store, or the Tornado Tube can be ordered online from several retailers including Stevespanglerscience. com. I hope this helps you:)
I was already really glad that I subscribed to this channel, but once you brought out the Blendtec blender I was even more glad that I am subscribed here.
Actually, the vortex trick it's really useful. Rescue teams and volunteers who assist during tragedies (like tornadoes or earthquakes) where people don't have access to clean water, carry water in big jugs or bottles and dump them into individual containers. This vortex trick helped supply water faster to those who need it. After an Earthquake, we carry over 200 jugs to communities without water or power. How long would it take to dispense 200 jugs using the old method?
This is probably the funniest episode so far, i didn't expect the "Will it blend?" reference/parody there xP You really have a great show here Steve. I loved SpanglerScienceTV and i didn't expect The Spangler Effect to be so high quality and entertaining, but you really did it. This show is without a doubt international (Discovery Channel) tv worthy (i say international cuz i live in Holland ;) )
God, my teacher loves these videos, steve. I found you a few months ago, and my teacher bases some of our labs so far from your videos. The Balloon cars, and the Sandwich bag bomb. Thanks for making those awesome videos :)
Epic sauce. Science is so much fun, I enjoy watching the Spangler Effect because it explains scientific ideas and prinicples in ways ive never thought of them before.
Watching this after i wached this like when im 2 or 3 years old
When you said "Will it blend?" I literally cracked up! XD
i nearly died at the will it blend parody

And here the algorithm brings us together once more
Best thing to add is two different sizes of glitter.

Steve Spangler was my childhood hero. I was a massive science nut and still am. Can’t believe this video is 10 years old now.

Nice idea! We will try it.
The way I learned to empty a bottle quickly was to put a straw in it and blow air into the bottle, forcing the water out.
