- My mother, Diane Hoffman, loved two things most - her family and dolls. She spent her life chasing after her dream dolls and the result is a collection that we love to share with the world at the doll shop. Her Madame Alexander Mystery Ladies of Fashion dolls are among the prizes of her lifetime, and it is with great joy that I continue to share. We hope you enjoy this video that we made special for the Virtual Doll Convention.

I just today- accidentally bought a beautiful brunette doll by Madame Alexander 2015. I didn’t know about this brand, just been buying dolls I thought are pretty. I’m happy to see the history behind my doll! Her name is Francesca..
I feel blessed to have a husband that encourages me to indulge my love for dolls and display them wherever I choose. We've been married for 45 years and I could not do any better. Love your mom's collection and I'm happy to hear that your dad has got the time and space to enjoy his own hobbies.🌞
Your very lucky to have such an understanding husband ❤. I also love dolls, unfortunately, I know my husband wouldn’t appreciate, the same as I wouldn’t appreciate a large sports collection/ display in our home. I do have a small collection of little dolls/figurines/miniatures that I call the gang, happily, he has a good sense of humor about them.

Overwhelmingly knock-your-eyes-outta-your head GORGEOUS. 😳 My mother, soon to be 91, has been a rabid, ravenous doll collector for about the past 40+ years, and while she has many beautiful vintage and antique dolls, her collection is not as precisely curated & focused as this. I currently own a collection of Victorian teddy bears and Victorian porcelain dolls at the age of 13. I began collecting vintage toys in general when I was 12 and will be now turning 14 next month. The porcelain dolls and Victorian/Historical interest in general thrives even within the newest generations.

I have been a Doll person my whole life I love them all I spend time trying to restore, recreate costumes, learn to make dolls, I love dolls of all kinds & I love watching your videos more than 30 years ago I was a member of a Doll Guild eventually became the president of this group & then most of the ladies were older & they passed away, there just wasn't anybody that had or has the love of dolls like I still do I'm so really pleased to get to watch & enjoy your videos Thank U so so much!!!!! An absolute beautiful collection.
I have a vintage MA Cissy doll in lingerie that I got at a thrift store. The rubber band broke so I need to restring her and find new clothes but I adore madame alexander dolls. Madame Alexander was the first to use plastic when making dolls. The one that drew my eyes were the pink and purple bridesmaids dresses. The dresses were a very common style of that era and i love them. But the real stunner is the red head in purple. I have red hair and my mom's favorite color is purple. She supports my love of dolls and I would love to have a doll like her one day.

Oh I just LOVE ALL YOUR MOM'S DOLLS!! She had great taste!!! I'm a M adame Alexander doll collector too but I can't afford all the really fancy older dolls. Mine are the 8" mostly but I enjoy all my dolls, and yes I do have a few composition and

This was so beautiful to see. My mother loved dolls also and she introduce me into her doll world. I know she was hoping for her last child, I'm number eight, would be a girl. I made dolls and I purchased dolls to give to my mother. The first doll was an African American Madame Alexander Pussy Cat doll. The year was 1976, I still have the cancel check that I wrote to pay for the doll. I too no longer have my mother in my life, but I still have her doll. Thanks for sharing your mom's dolls. -Gerald-

Gorgeous dolls! Their faces and clothes are so lovely. Favorites: All composition ones. Melanie from Gone With the Wind? Judy Garland from meet me in St Louie maybe ? Queen Victoria? Love the ring boy and Victorian bride and groom and brides maids. Love Debra ballerina and her lashes. I had a friend with beautiful shining red hair and purple was her best color too. Holland Diane is the icing or cherry on top. Thank you and your dad for showing us your mom's exquisite dolls. (And you brought her favorite lipstick - make up too.) My mom and grandma always wore lipstick mine is Burt's Bees lip balm clear but it reminds me of them.

Hi. My mom was so very poor growing up she only ever had 1 doll. My mom and I used to go yard sales, flea markets etc and buy filthy, hairless, pitiful dolls and take them home and bath them, my mom would make wigs from fake fur, she made them dresses as well. Once I was grown and she had a little more money she started collecting dolls. 2 years ago she and my dad decided to downsize and completely renovate the inside of their house. My kids and I were dividing collectibles and my daughter suggested my mom sell “our “ dolls to pay for something my mom wanted. My husband and I Bought my mom’s doll collection. My mom can visit her dolls anytime she wants.

Rachel thanks for sharing your mom's dolls with the world to see for us doll lovers I love those Madame Alexander dolls I have a little bit of them that I got when I lived in Colorado at the outlet stores the Goodwill outlet stores and I love all those composition dolls their faces are so unique exquisite but the Marie Antoinette is my favorite and I think all of them are beautiful but the composition doll faces are more exquisite and fancy their faces are they're just beautiful thank you for sharing this I hope you show more of your mom's dolls with everyone because I love looking at all your dolls and your doll shop thank you have a good day and your baby so cute she's going to be loving to looking at those dolls when she starts walking cuz you can see it in her already she's so cute she's adorable

I really enjoyed this tour. As someone born in the 1970s, I don't really know that much about dolls from this era. The dolls themselves aren't really my style, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship that went into them. Also, the detail of the outfits is jaw-dropping. I am curious how much these dolls sold for, and what that would be in today's dollars?
Thank you so much! I often wondered what it would be. Surely many hundreds, if not more, in todays exchange. It was a lot to spend over $100 on a doll in the 1940s. Glad you enjoyed this!

Beautiful dolls
The lace on those dolls…if someone bought comparable lace and made such dolls today…very few could afford them. I love the costuming from this period! I know they were expensive in their time period, but nothing like they would be if new today. I do so love dolls from this period. Hoping to have saved enough to but one of these Ladies of Fashion next year! If the dentist doesn’t get it all, lol.

Awe!!!! Rachel this was such a touching video to watch. Firstly thank your dad for allowing us to be able to view such a stunning and rare collection of dolls. I was imagining the joy your mum must have had each time one of these beauties came into her hands. The outfits are incredible. I loved the first ballerina with her lace and flowered tutu. The music you played was so befitting . and then came Miss Holland Diane ha!!!! that little girl is so squeezable, I noticed uncle Stanley's strong hands ready just incase!!!!! A very beautiful and precious collection. The 1950s bride doll is wearing a 'mermaid or trumpet' style dress. That seems amazing and fashion-forward when many bride dolls of this era wore ball gowns. Oh, that sweet baby crawling makes me smile ♥

I stumbled upon this video purely by accident. But when I was young in the 70s, my grandmother gave me a collection of older dolls. 8” and from different countries. I have no idea who made them, but these dolls reminded me so much of them. Do you have other videos of dolls from this era in country costumes? I sadly gave my collection away before I had children. But I love old glass and my sweet husband has let me take over our house with glass.

You have the best job, ever! Did your mom play dollies with you? I love to play Barbies with my grand daughters we play for hours and it teaches them about fashion and hair styles ..it's alot of joy to or us.
