    The day I found myself in Paris but wanted to visit Luxembourg I realised that country is small.

    Strasbourg, Germany?
    It's definitely not part of my country. At least not anymore after WW2. It's in France.

    I've been there recently, visited the capital. I enjoyed how the old town merges with the modern parts; you can take photos of medieval buildings with skyscrapers in the far background :D. Everything is in walking distance, so we toured the sightseeing spots on foot. I also learned two things: 1) Prices are insane, like, one slice of black forest cake for 9€ (we didn't eat there, lol) and public transportation is free

    Luxembourgish is an interesting Germanic idiom, related to German but with some French downloads as wall as a few germanized French words such as "pompjee" for "fireman", from the French word "pompier" - unlike "Feuerwehrmann" in German. Or "femmën" for "to smoke", from the French word "fumer" - unlike "rauchen" in German. I live in the Belgian province also called Luxembourg (le Luxembourg Belge), a 20-minute drive to the border with the Grand-Duchy. The shopping mall where I usually go is essentially French-speaking because most customers come from our neighboring French-speaking part of Belgium. Just drive 10 kms further to another shopping mall and lots of stores are German-speaking because it's closer to the German border and bordering German-speaking Ostbelgien. In any case you can address the local clerks in either German, French or Luxembourgish, no problem.

    Living in Luxembourg is expensive. You pay 1500€ rent for a 60m² flat or pay 700.000 for 70m². Thats why a lot of young people are moving to the borders in germany/belgium.

    And what was added recently to the "well being" that amazes me still today is the free public transportation. It still feels weird to go on a bus, train, tram etc and you don't even need some kind of card or anything, it is just free. Just hop in and you are ok. And the quality of all those vehicules are presteen (modern, clean and people being respectfull)

    I am Danish but live in Luxembourg. This was a good video for someone not living here. Of course the real estate is super expensive. I live like 200 meter away from Jean-Claude Junker. A normal/nice house here is about 1 million euros (in the north it is cheaper of course). But the rest, like food, gas, cars etc is like the neighbours prices, so yea we are one of the richest country in the world even more so than switzerland or DubaÏ. The crime rate is super low (much lower than France or Germany). Being Danish I know how it feels to be in a good country... this is one of the top countrys in my opinion. Got the permanent resindency and the the nationallity/passpord recently. So if you look at the best passports you can have in the world, I am so lucky to have the Danish and Luxembourgish one :) (probably the 2 are in the top 10 if not top 5 in the world)

    Oh wow You're way past the Arctic Circle! Nice. I've been there 3 weeks. Prices are not so different between Finland and Luxembourg. The difference is that you notice there's a lot of more concentrated wealth in Luxembourg, although there's generally good quality of life, while in Finland it's more distributed, it's a harsher condition to live. About the weather in Luxembourg, it's only 61 days of sun because it's very cloudy, rather than being too up high north. It's a valley.
    Oh Another interesting thing about Luxembourg: it's very very quiet and silent. Finnish people are reserved yes or they speak when they really have to, but in Luxembourg it feels like people whisper instead of talking, they seam to be afraid of speaking or something, even trains and buses have "silence signs". Except portuguese, they talk louder - thank you.
    Things close very very very very early. Restaurants and later shops close at 21:00 (9pm). And everybody likes open markets.
    But honestly is kind of a boring routine country. Good to work and maybe start a family, but not to develop your personality. It's not like the nordics, where there's conformity but you have a lot of things to do differently, you can explore, roam, meet people. In Luxembourg is a bit of pyramidal country - people slightly look down on you (slightly). But it is what it is, there's opportunity to those who stick to the norm. Services and people working in stores etc have a bit of a reputation also for being very bad hosts even among French and Germans.

    And the internet speed is insane even if you have the lowest contract. But you can get so up in gigs per second that I don't see the point anymore (even if you have to upload a ton every day). Abroad I have seen companies that can not get the internet speed of a citizent here. It is crazy that you have optical fiber coming from underground and actually putting this little tiny transparent "cable" directly into your modem (I always think they are so breakable, but no, you can bend them more than you think... just don't over do it hehe)

    If you are looking for a good place for work & live, then the richest in Europe (from workers POV) are following countries: Bavaria, Austria, Swiss, Baden-Wurtemberg, North Rheinland - Westfalen, Tuscany. First 5 of those countries are German countries, Tuscany is Germany only in the name, on the ground it is Italianized.
    Trust me, I'm a Slav (the one of whom word "slave" comes from) I know how to look good place for work with mild overlords.

    • @kefirmroku4494

      They are a little racist, but all the Western nations are little racist (they allow me to travel without ticket because I'm white, Turks and Africans don't have such privilleges). Eastern (Slavic) countries are racist only in speech not in practice.

    • @nosmokejazwinski6297
      @nosmokejazwinski6297 Год назад +2

      Again spreading myths about the etymology of word Slav which has no correlation with the word slave. Slav comes from Slava which means glory
      Also;
      Bavaria, Baden Württemberg, North Rheinland, Westphalia and Tuscany are not countries

    • @kefirmroku4494

      @@nosmokejazwinski6297 1. Definition of country is "a land with counters and distinct geographical and historical features". What they are if not countries, mr Devil's servant?
      2. Open books you illiterate NS sectarian: First, between 1200BC and 520BC, there was Venetic word "cleve" meaning "fame". Slavs who are one of Venetic tribes pronounced word "fame" as "slava", and gave it meaning of "word" - "slovo".
      The meaning "fame" came to being long after Slavs divided into Western and South-Eastern what happened after Alexander Macedon destroyed Scythians/Shqipherians in the Rossolania (Rus). That is long ago established by scientists, just open linguistic schoolbooks.
      Since Romans didn't know sign "Ł" they used sign "U" instead, and so before medieval "B-V" shift "Slavs" were written in Latin as "Suabs". Since part of Slavs called themselfs (due to Roman sources) as Slavs and part as Sklavs, then words "sclavus" and "slave" came to being, after Caesar Augustus hired Teutonics to conquer Germania and capture Slavs to work in chains for Rome.

      If we call Liechtenstein a county, not country, then indeed you are right. Andorra and Monaco are city-states, not countries.
