I used to live in an apartment complex full of 892 electric horn/strobes. They were definitely effective at grabbing people's attention, but inconvenient whenever it came to false alarms.
My high school had the horn-only version of the 201 (can’t for the life of me remember the model) in some places. Most of them were replaced by various devices over the years (mainly outdoors, a mix of older Wheelocks and a few Integrities) but in a hallway by the gym (probably the only place indoors that still had them) I actually got to hear them go off a few times. There were a couple outdoors, but most were dead or dying.
out of the 890 series I do love the 892-6B the best for its sound. Love how fast they flash but they are definitely not bright at all LOL. My school had them with BG8's for pulls, Simplex 4903 strobe plate with 9838 horns. Good combo lol. I THINK the panel was a 4005 or 4010?? Not quite sure on that one.
I've found an old Edwards catalog from around the time they switched out of the 895Bs to the 892Bs, but they mention an 895B-002. Any idea what that one is supposed to be? It says it's mechanical.
i love these speaker strobes of these fire alarms but there are various eletronic, low frequency, mechanical horn strobes of these fire alarms however some building has all various intercom speakers connected to these fire alarms also as well which it was interesting.
The only difference is that the EST genesis synchronizes all by themselves when hooked up to a panel the Edwards 895b-201 doesn’t synchronize when hooked up to a panel

Man them 2903s are so undercooked. Still not enough yeast
That 9838 just annihilated the Edwards horns! Lol
Just ordered the one with the adaptahorn!
Have a crap ton of these at my school, hope I can get them whenever in this decade they get to renovating my asbestos-ridden 1960s school.
I would definitely look into how to decontaminate them before getting any. I believe asbestos has a tendency to get on everything.
I love it!
The 895B-301 is Super quiet for a Fire alarm especially in today’s date
Cool video
I love your awesome fire alarm content. I really enjoyed watching this video.

Why is the 9838 just louder than the adapt
Did Simplex ever sue Edwards?
Personally for me the Edwards GS 895B-201 is like a vintage EST Genasis
You can clearly see the inspiration. Same general layout, same removable cover, but in an extremely compact form factor.
The only difference is that the EST genesis synchronizes all by themselves when hooked up to a panel the Edwards 895b-201 doesn’t synchronize when hooked up to a panel
1:08 1:11 Ah You Got COVID-19

These are different.
@@Fahrenheit4051 ik, it was when you refered to the 2903 having a lens that can be flipped upside down
@@firealarm2903_ Oh, ok.
