Hi Kelly great content! With the first demo does the candidate have to physically print out the cards and hold them or do they come up on the screen like in your demonstration?
Awesome video! It answered a lot of questions for me. I just applied today, and have already received the email to schedule my Demo class interview. I’m really excited! Thanks for all your tips, etc. I’ve already subscribed to your channel so I don’t miss anything. It’s great! 😊
Teacher Kelly, thanks so much for your helpful video! :) I have an interview tomorrow and I felt so nervous, but after watching your video I feel calmer. Thanks so much!

My suggestion is to prepare according to this and you can't go wrong haha. Be aware they can (and may) stop you at any point though (and it isn't a reflection of performance).
I got a demo lesson on going to the doctor for middle students. There are a lot of incidental language and several sentences. Do they actually want me to say all those words? Is there a speaking ratio? It seems like I would be talking a lot more than the student based on their guidelines.
Hi! BlingABC uses several demo lessons at various levels. The one you got is for a level higher than what I demo here, so you will use more incidental language. Do generally try to follow the teaching guide. But remember at the higher levels, your student should still be talking a lot (using full sentences, answering extension questions, etc), so student talk time should still be high. 😊
great tips, thanks. Do you know if Bling ABC are able to see laptop specs and location ? i think this may have been the only reason i didnt pass recently, as my interview went really well it thought, i had good feedback so was curious about this
Hi! Thank you! 💜 They don't check those things during the interview or factor them into interview decision. You can work from anywhere, so location doesn't matter. And laptop specs are assessed during orientation/onboarding later on.
Teacher Kelly do you have any tips for the mock ?! This is very different than VIPKID 😅 I did my interview last night and got an email saying I was hired! 🤩 now have to submit documentation then orientation and at the end the performance mock (other companies usually do the mock first, then get hired) so I was a bit confused 🤷🏻♀️ 😅
@@jazmindlc7215 Congrats!! 🎉 Your training and onboarding sessions will help you prepare for the mock class. My big advice is to absorb as much info from those sessions as you can. Take notes, take screenshots. Pay attention to details - like how to use the tools and what each does in the platform. Also, have your background ready with the logo for the mock. They grade you on those little things. Otherwise, it is similar to VIPKID - energy, TPR, props! 💜
Teacher Kelly thank you !! ☺️☺️ one last question if for some reason I were to not do like extremely well on the mock, will I get fired? Or is it just to see how it would be when teaching with their platform? And they help us out ? Thank you for replying ! I’ve subscribed to your channel!! Will be checking your videos out :)))
@@jazmindlc7215 Thank you! 💜 You do need to pass the mock in order to be 'officially' hired. You can repeat it once if you fail, but if you fail the second time, your application can be terminated. But you will totally be fine! 🤩

Super helpful!! I have watched 4 times and have my demo tonight. You have a wonderful teaching style, and I appreciate the tip about not skipping the slides that looked "blank" to me. I would have shipped over those if I hadn't seen this. One question; you mention if you progress, you will need the "logo" in your background. Is there logo something you get access to if you pass the demo? Also, is there a color associated with BlingABC? Thanks!
Hi! Thank you so much, so happy to hear this was helpful! Good luck in your demo!! 🤞 You are given the logo later on I believe, but you can also just google it and find it in images there if you want it sooner. (That is what I did!) Colors are purple and orange for the logo. 😊
They just provide a link to a web platform now I believe. (It is essentially a video chat.) They use skype as a back up. The slides typically are not screenshared. Instead, you both just have the slides open and the interviewer follows along as you teach. 😊
Hi Kelly, thank you for the great information. Are you still with Itutor group? The interviewer was not present for my interview today. I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to reschedule.
Hi! Yes I am. Have been with them 2 years. :) So sorry to hear about your interviewer; I am not sure what may have happened with that case. It is totally up to you about rescheduling. I can't really tell you if it is worth it to you - that is a personal call as to whether you want/need the job or not. I love working with them and it has definitely been worth it for me. :)
Hi Kelly, I have a question. I've been an online English teacher for 5 years now and I've had a lot of experience, taught everyone, from toddlers to seniors, 1v1 and huge groups, all levels also. It always seemed to be a problem with new schools when they realize that I am not a native speaker and then they just disregard all of my knowledge, experience and North American accent simply because it says I come from a different country. So my question is - does BlingABC has that same attitude or it would actually we okay to apply? Cheers, Bojan :)
Hi! Unfortunately they, like most online companies, do pay attention to passport over other things. I would definitely suggest giving it a try - maybe include an intro video link as part of your resume that you provide. If you decide to try, send me an email so that I can help. (Teacherkellyuka@gmail.com)
Hi! I don't yet have a demo video made for this one, but am hoping to soon. But principles are similar. The lesson is aimed at a higher level though, so gauge your 'student's' level early on and adjust language as needed. Still use TPR and props of course. Props - I have seen teachers use a 'toy' medical kit, or print medical items (like stethoscope or prescription bottle). Try to have at least 2-3 props minimum. Still have high energy and give lots of praise. Focus on pronunciation and correct errors. (Those words are hard!) And be sure to get your student using sentences when you can. 😊
Hi Kelly, I would like to apply for Blingabc. When I apply, I will need to submit my resume, correct? Do you have any advice about the resume specifically? I also tried to email you at the address you provided and it did not go through. Thanks for your help, Ryane
Hi! Awesome! 🤩 Yes a resume is needed when applying. Send me an email at teacherkellyuka@gmail.com with your resume and I am happy to have a look and give some feedback quickly before you submit. Also in terms of emailing them to connect with me, try blinghelp@blingabc.com. Give them my name (Kelly Daigle) as your referring teacher. If you can, also CC me in.
Hi, I have some doubts about how long it takes from the moment you get hired until you have your first class. I'd really appreciate real info, I've read some comments that several months passed before they got even one single class.
It really varies honestly. No one can give you a definite answer on when you will get booked. They book by semester, so depending when you are hired, you may or may not get booked (or fully booked) right away. They are a great company, but you may need to be patient with them. (I suggest starting with them, but having a back up company to fill hours for income as needed.) 💖
I don’t have my TESOL or TEFL but I have an endorsement on my teaching license to teach ESL in my state and have a year of public school ESL teaching experience. Does that meet the requirements?

No problem! Congrats on getting an interview. 🤩 You will be asked to book in training once you pass and their training schedule usually shows 1-2 weeks out. Not certain if there is a deadline for booking in though. 🤔
Hi Kelly, I have my demo lesson after the weekend. I am in the midst of getting my bachelor degree, in 2021 May. Will that be a problem for this specific company? If so, should I approach the interview as a practice or should I cancel the interview completely?
Unfortunately, it is a problem. For BlingABC, a completed bachelors degree is required. They will not let you begin teaching (or complete the hiring process) without supplying proof of degree. I would suggest cancelling the interview. You don't want to burn a potential bridge, as you can definitely complete the interview once you have your degree in hand down the track.
Hi! There are multiple demo options, with one being 'numbers'. The numbers demo is aimed essentially at the preschool (younger) age demographic. Keep it super simple. There are lots of things you can do with it - have items to count, use flashcards, etc. Simple can still be fun! But keep in mind, you'll need to use lots of repetition with such a beginner level. Still use lots of TPR as well.
Teacher Kelly thank you so much!! There is one slide I am a bit confused with it’s called the warm up and using their hands... could I possibly send you an email?
BlingABC uses their own platform (an app we call 'Roombox'). They previously used Classin, and the occasional class takes place there, but it is quickly being phased out.
I did my interview and i have seen that other candidates get positive feedback, but mine did not. Also. my interviewer did not make mistakes haha! I wonder if that is a good thing or a bad thing!
Haha all interviewers will be different and conduct their interviews differently. What I say in this video is just my experience and things to watch out for. Did you get your result? :)
Very true! BUT that is because there is a guide provided for each slide, not shown, which gives some sentences to use while teaching. I normally do not use so much incidental language personally. But BlingABC does give some 'scripting' for slides. You don't have to follow it always verbatim, but I try to in this walkthrough to show using the guide.
For BlingABC, a minimum of 8 classes is required. (Class slots are 40 minutes, with a 10 minute break between). Available timeslots are 5-9pm BJT weekdays and 8:30am-9pm BJT on weekends. :)
For most, you must actually be a teacher for them first. Often you can recruit using referral links you get right away. But many companies have secondary positions in recruitment too.
You don't market yourself like Palfish with BlingABC. They schedule for you. But it is a little hit/miss as to how quickly you book and whether you will fully book. (Some teachers started last summer and are still un-booked. It depends on a variety of factors - mock result, your availability, what you can teach, etc.) They are a great company, but *may* require some patience in terms of bookings. (As an alternate, have you tried Whales? They are similar to BlingABC, but bookings are usually more consistent and you tend to get them sooner.) Send me an email at teacherkellyuka@gmail.com if you want and we can chat!) :)
Hi Kelly thank you very much for the video. Very helpful. I am very interested in applying I just am very anxious and nervous about it which has been whats stopping me from applying because it's totally new for me, the unknown is scary. Iam one to get as much information as I can and make sure I understand before getting into anything, what has also stopped me is that I feel I ask too many questions just to make sure I understand everything😀🙈 sometimes i feel it might annoy people when they have so much to ask. Lol. Does BlingAbc accept applications from South Africa?
Hi! No problem. Thanks so much for connecting. I am happy to mentor you, and answer all your questions! 🤩 Just email me at teacherkellyuka@gmail.com. BlingABC has not given a clear answer on whether they hire South African teachers. (There are a few in the fb group, but they also hold other passports, like UK.) 😬 SayABC is no longer actively hiring at all sadly. 😔 ButI do recruit for others that hire from South Africa. Email me and we can chat! 💜
Yes you can ( and many teachers do). Investing in a good headset is always a good idea though - it is more professional and gives much better sound quality. (You can get a good set even cheaper than Apple headphones these days!) ;)
Teacher Kelly ok so on the last slide they ask for us to prompt the student to trac the path in the maze for each person. But I noticed you didn’t do that in the clip. any tips/ advice please and thank. you.
@@tpotsstudio5195 That is because in the interview, you won't have the slides on screen to draw or have the student draw. (The slides aren't shared between you!) So I taught with that in mind. I just use it as a review of the vocabulary learned.

Haha all interviewers will be different and conduct their interviews differently. What I say in this video is just my experience and things to watch out for. Did you get your result? :)
this had a great amount of incidental language. You teach the word 'like', but asked 'What are these faces made of?'
Hi. Is there a minimum number of hours you need to work?
For BlingABC, a minimum of 8 classes is required. (Class slots are 40 minutes, with a 10 minute break between). Available timeslots are 5-9pm BJT weekdays and 8:30am-9pm BJT on weekends. :)
How do you become a recruiter for the companies?
For most, you must actually be a teacher for them first. Often you can recruit using referral links you get right away. But many companies have secondary positions in recruitment too.
do BlingABC give you consistent hours every week or do you have to market yourself all the time like on palfish? cause i hate that
You don't market yourself like Palfish with BlingABC.
@@TeacherKelly Thanka a lot for that. i just applied to Whales , ill see what happens :D
@@aliyah7216 Awesome! Fingers crossed for both!
(There are a few in the fb group, but they also hold other passports, like UK.) 😬
SayABC is no longer actively hiring at all sadly. 😔
ButI do recruit for others that hire from South Africa. Email me and we can chat! 💜

Hi Kelly thank you for responding. I sent you an email the same day I posted this I think 😀 already sent. Thanks again
@@user-zd8lf6vx3m Got it! Will respond shortly! 💜
Can you use Apple head phones
Yes you can ( and many teachers do). Investing in a good headset is always a good idea though - it is more professional and gives much better sound quality. (You can get a good set even cheaper than Apple headphones these days!) ;)
Teacher Kelly lol thank you for the advice.
Teacher Kelly oh ok, that makes sense. Thank you for the help, I have my interview today.
Hi Kelly. I had my interview yesterday on the same topic (I like Fruit). I was terrible however i passed! I now have to submit all my tertiary degrees and qualifications as well as an introductory video about myself. Thereafter i will have to prepare a mock class to finalize my application with BlingABC.
My question: Did you have to go through the same process before becoming a tutor with them? Any tips with regards to the introductory video? Your advice will be highly appreciated.
Are you currently working with them?
Hi Kelly Such inspiring tutorial, I would like to ask you to mentor me please. I am busy preparing for SayABC interview, thank you
Hi! Sure thing. Send me an email at teacherkellyuka@gmail.com. :)

Fabulous! Will check shortly and get back to you. :)
Where is One on One English?
It is a Vietnamese company teaching kids. It is largely 1:1 and 25 minute classes. They, however, are not hiring at the moment (as they have been restructuring). If you keep in touch, I can let you know when they reopen hiring.
Are there any vacancies at this time? @@TeacherKelly
Hello Kelly it's a pleasure to write you , I would like to send a email to you about My CV and see if you could help me out, I would appreciate vary much, one thing is that I'm not sure if the company would mind but I do not have a bachelor degree, but I do have a TEFL certificate, and I have 1 year teaching experience with younger learner's in classroom of 13 students and 1 on 1.
Hi! Thanks so much for reaching out. Unfortunately though, for BlingABC, a degree is required. But do email your CV at teackerkellyuka@gmail.com and I can have a look. I am happy to help with other companies that may suit. :)
Or sayAbc
Really really disappointed with Bling ABC, I would not recommend it at all.
Why?
